Anyone have a slipped band and just live with it?
faithinjesus replied to faithinjesus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My barium swallow showed the same thing. I have had this happen twice now. So the doc said that because it is continuing to happen everytime the band is filled, then I need to have it repositioned. What board did you get that from? I would like to read the comments he received. Thanks, Tina -

Thanks for the info. My biggest fear is that I leave it as is and I gain all that weight back and will have thrown all that money right down the toilet. I am praying that my insurance will cover this. By the way.....If anyone is interested.... Dr. Powell in Richardson did my surgery. I went to another person for follow ups and fills, this person was too agressive. Every time I had a fill, I had to go back in and get some taken out. The only time I was ever loosing weight, I was throwing up and in pain. I should have stuck with Dr. Powell. Live and learn. Thanks, Tina PS, Hi DeLarla!!! -
Anyone have a slipped band and just live with it?

I would like to know if anyone has been told they have a slipped band and that it needs to be re-possitioned, and decided not to have it repositioned and just kept the band empty and still had success in loosing weight. I was a cash pay patient and don't know if my insurance is going to want to pay for the band to be repossitioned. The doctors office is having to send a letter to the insurance company stating that it is medically necessary. I won't know for 7-14 days whether they will pay or not. I got to thinking and wondered if anyone has had success with no fills. Thanks! -
Why do adjustments take different amounts of time before I feel them?
faithinjesus replied to Parvathi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have found that it is my menstral period that effects my band. It took me a while to figure that one out, but I finaly did. My doctor has recently put me on birth controll that keeps me from having a period every month. I have one once every three months so this will help me to concentrate on loosing for at least two and a half months and then, if I have to, I can go in and let the doc take some out when it is time for my period and get re-filled afterwards. -
"How is telling an out-right lie not about honesty? I think that if you are going to share something as personal as your vagina that something small like your Band pales in comparison" I agree with vinesqueen on that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dixie, I'm in Cleburne and I used Dr. Powell for my surgery. His staff was wonderfull. He is a little on the dry side. My surgery went well. The only thing I have to complain about is not really about me (well, I guess it does involve me). I was a cash pay patient and I was referred to Dr. Powell by Dr. Maese in Ferris Tx. I had my surgery in November of 2004 and as of yet, Dr. Powell has not released Dr. Maese's portion of my payment to him. They have finally agreed to pay him but I don't know if the payment has come across yet. He tried to say that I wasn't referred to him and came to him on my own will. Well I didn't even know who Dr. Powell was until Dr. Maese referred me to him. Any ways, though you should know that. If you are a cash pay patient and will use Dr. Powell for your follow ups, you have nothing to worry about. But watch out if you are a cash pay patient and you go somewhere else for the follow ups. Dr. Maese was doing my follow ups for free until all this got straightened out. I love Dr. Maese.

I am so sorry to hear about this. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and with her family and husband. Philip, please try and take a little comfort in knowing she is now home with our Lord. May God be with you and your family. Tina

Hi Kelly, I think you are still swollen. I have this issue with every fill I have gotten (3). I had .3 put in on Thursday and went today to have .2 removed because I thought I was dying Friday Night. I too was regretting getting the Lap Band. I couldn't keep even Water down, I threw up so much that night that it scared me. I asked my Dr. about slippage and he said the chances are low because the people who have to worry about slippage are the people who throw up two -three, maybe four days in a row, but since I have only done it on the days he filled me to tight, I should be ok. But now, everything is calming down and I am able to drink now. Stay on liquids for a day or so and then try eating. Good Luck!! Tina

Does anyone know about a bracelet you can get to wear for medical reasons that lets paramedics know that you have the lap band? -

faithinjesus replied to faithinjesus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you!! I am doing great, no pain at all but still limited on my food intake!! Now that I have figured this one out, I go back in a week for another one! Whew, what a ride!!!! -
I was hooked on Dr. Pepper. The other day, I took my kids though Wendy's and I gat an Iced tea and my daughters got Dr. Pepper. Well, by mistake, I picked up one of the Dr. Peppers and took a drink. YUK! it tasted like pure carbonated water!! I asked my daughter if it tasted right to her and she said yes, So, because it has been so long, it now tasts so different. I don't crave them at all. Now I am a tea-a-holic.

I'm not sure what the words are, but I know it is when you throw up,
