  1. God bless you MindiJean. Wow I'm truly amazed by all of the survivors here. I was a bit hesitant about getting this surgery because of reoccurrence, plus other issues but it seems there many survivors here whom have had the surgery. Well they have me on 2 different pills and they told me to stop all Vitamins and supplements. The neurologist also said go gluten and sougar/caffeine free and to hold off on surgery. WHAT? She's buggin out. She said one I eliminate those things then I should lose the weight. Yeah ok. Oh btw, thanks for the link. I love that song. I will be listening to it all day. High five girl.

    anybody own a vitamix substitute?

I have both the vitamix and the bullet. I prefer my bullet to liquefy my juices/greens. So much easier to clean up. You add water to greens to luiqify. My vitamix is better for my soups.
  4. Has anyone ever been told they have Inflammation with a blood exam? If so, has it gone away after vsg? My blood work shows Inflammation and they don't know where its coming from. One of my doctors told me to cut out all simple carbs. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem. (I'm pre op)

    Inflammation - Blood Test

Thank you gamergirl. This is very interesting. Do you get bad affects from yours?

    Inflammation - Blood Test

My Dr. told me it was high. I just hope that my weight may be a factor so that after vsg it can go back to normal. All these different issues coming up right before my last surgeon visit. I guess it's better now than later. Thank you for your post. Very informative. I guess I have a lot more reading and research to do.
  7. Congratulations cancer survivor. You made it this far another week is nothing in comparison to everything you've been through. Good luck on your sleeve journey and many blessings to you.
  8. I'm vsg pre op. I was given a 6 month waiting period on insurance. I was all excited on my first visit back in June (planned on the lap band) and now, I'm scheduled to see the surgeon next month and I'm scared of so many different things. For starters, there is NO long term history on vsg surgery i.e., if you're going to need stomach surgery, or need anti inflammatory medication. I know nothing in life is guaranteed, but it seems the longer I've waited for surgery, the more questions I have and the more scared I am. Also, a lot of people are suffering with acid reflux and some vsg patients have the option of doing gastric - I don't have that option due to having a colon resection. Is anybody else worried? Its funny because I want to be smaller but at what expense? Will I have buyers remorse? I can't get a refund lol.

    Scared of Long Term Affects

I thank all of you who have responded and congratulations on your success. This past has definitely put my mind at ease. I already know there are dangers in any surgery we do but I will stay positive and forge forward.

    Scared of Long Term Affects

Yes the more I read the scary it is. But then you also read the positive stories and just wish you were already there. I can't wait to see my surgeon in Nov. There are several people on here who have postponed their surgeries who are now sleeved and happier than ever, and I don't want to regret not having the surgery now. I guess mostly everyone goes through it.

    Scared of Long Term Affects

Well versed. I work and come home and on occasion I do go out but I'm just tired of being fat, I want to start dating again and I want to fit in a chair and cross my legs. Just like most of us on VST. Thank you.

    New here!

Good for you. I've have a 6 month waiting time. My last visit with my surgeon is Nov. 17th then they should give me a Dec or Jan date. Well good luck. Keep us posted here.

woohoo. Good luck and well wishes. Keeping the energy positive for you.
  20. You look great. I started the process back in June and I have the 6 month wait due to insurance. I've read blogs, watched countless youtube, watch posts here on vst and I swear, this thing is a yoyo. I've never felt comfortable with vsg, but, it seems its the best thing for me. I guess once I'm approved and the surgery date is scheduled, then maybe my true excitement will come through (I hope). I know a lot of people have felt the same way pre op and then once they're sleeved, they get happy. Oh well, I have another month and a half for approval. We shall see. Anyway you look great.

    Am I a failure?

I just googled plication. Seems like a great option. I'm still skeptical about removing 3/4 of my stomach. Its reversible - which sounds a heck of a lot better. Got me thinking. Don't feel guilty for your choice. You did what made you feel more comfortable. As long as you achieve your goals, what does it matter which wls you went with. Enjoy the new you. Good luck. I would love to follow your weight loss journey.
