Wow, I am so glad that you are recovering well now. What an ordeal! I think you are right to post this though and make sure that people are aware that even though rare these events do occur and ARE LIFE THREATENING. In the course of pre- op testing acongenital heart conditon was discovered which I never knew I had. We can never be too careful! Take care! I hope you continue to heal well! -

I feel just like you. I am always doing battle with doctors. Yes, they are the professionals but they are not in my skin, or yours. -

We definitely need to talk more! My husband does not really understand the Doctor Who infatuation that I have. Have you seen Torchwood? Do you like Captain Jack? At least you and your husband can snuggle up next to each other a little while you watch the re -runs and wait for the Anniversary special!! I hope your recovery continues to go well! You can show me how it is done! My surgery is still about 5 weeks away. -

Time off for desk jobs?
Bronco0605 replied to aranders75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work a desk job 100% from home. I teach English Language classes online. I am arranging to take two full weeks off. I am a contracted worker so any time off is unpaid. If I can go back sooner I will but I want to make sure my bases are covered for healing time. My surgery is scheduled for November 19th. -
I am in for sure, I gearing up for surgery in November. This will be a great way to keep me walking! Thanks everybody! Oh and my name is Ann.

What are you doing to prepare for your surgery?
Bronco0605 replied to McButterpants's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for 11/19, we are gonna be so close on dates! I have been doing all my preop requirements since June though. I have lost 21 pounds so far. I have stopped drinking soda and fast food, reduced my sweets and other carbs by alot and increased my protein. I have also increased my activity alot. I have a pedometer with a goal to walk at least 2-4 miles a day. I am still struggling with the no drinking while eating thing, and the eating slowly. My surgeon requires a two two week pre op liquid diet with the expectation that we will lose at least ten pounds during that time. -
Surgery Date Scheduled, Pre op class question
Bronco0605 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for 11/19/13. I have to attend a 4 hour pre-op class a few weeks before. Is this common at other weight management centers? Also do other places allow patients to sample the required liquid diet product before they begin their preop diet? My program requires us to use new directions products. I have to a two week liquid diet. -

Is there a decaf coffeee that actually tastes rich and good?
Bronco0605 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am used to really rich and tasty full bodied coffee. My surgeon has said no caffeine after surgery ever! I have to find a good full bodied coffee for life. Please help! Also please give suggestions for sugar free creamers that taste really good. -

Is there a set number of expected pounds lost per week or month that most people expect to lose and then they don't? I am just wondering what others definitions are.
