Thanks Laura, it's always good to know you aren't alone. Especially when your thinking is kinda muddled.

Can you add me to the calendar too, please? Thank You!

What would I do without you guys? I felt really awful yesterday, not because of what I ate but I think more because of what I didn't drink! I felt so tired and for the first time, 2 of the incision sites hurt really nasty. I feel so guilty because I can't keep up with the house, the job, the everything and I don't want to say that out loud to the family because I am afraid there is a "you did this to yourself" speech lurking somewhere. And the REAL truth is I know that's bull because my family, especially my husband is so supportive. So where is this coming from?! I think I need to go off and cry somewhere and just get that pity party out of the way. Pity party for what though? Maybe losing 50 pounds over the next year. Yikes, that's pretty awful (yeah, right!) Ok, I feel better now. Thank You all for being there.

Hi Diamond, Once my tests were done, I was approved in 3 days and got my OR date that same day. The nurse in the office told me the more doctors that will recommend the surgery for you the better. Like distant0098, I had a letter from my PCP & Cardiologist. They wanted a 6 month diet with my PCP but I brought all the receipts from Weight Watchers, Nutra systems and other online diets that I tried and he said " You did it all and you need this surgery" and signed the form. I have a friend who told me to do that, take all the bills to the PCP as that was what she did and her PCP signed her form. Just followed her advice and it worked. For me from start to banding was 5 weeks. The other thing you might want to do is if they are making you have a battery of tests and they are being scheduled weeks apart, tell them to put you on the cancellation list and then follow that up with a call every so often. You would be surprised how many cancel and they will put you in their place. The truth is, if I didn't do that, I would have just finished the colonoscopy June 29th. I wonder if self pays go through all those tests too? It must be so expensive for them. Good Luck

Hi everyone, I was banded on 6/28/07. I read the posts religiously and appreciate all the info on what to eat and what not to eat, of course, I can't eat anything right now only Clear liquids and I believe I am really getting hungry! My question concerns the Lapband Forum: I get lost! Sounds silly, but sometimes I can't find where I left off the night before. Any instructions for this problem or for using the site.:help: What's a trackback? Thanks, Waters Banded 6/28/2007 Dr George Eid UPMC Magee Women's Hospital Pgh, PA

Hi, I took all my receipts to my PCP, who I see at least every 3 months anyhow. He was satisfied with that and signed the form. Good Luck to you -

How was your recovery 1 week after surgery
Waters replied to too much of me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, I was banded on 6/28/2007. The first night was pretty miserable especially when I had to get up out of bed. I asked myself why would I do this on purpose?! Friday was better once I got home. I told the doc I was too sick to be in the hospital, the beds are horrid and my back hurt so bad. Saturday was good, went to a wedding, as was Sunday (Church)and Monday went shopping. Today, however, is a different story, I have a brick in my chest too and it aches. and I am sure there is a burp stuck. I think I overdid it these past few days. I don't want to go to bed but there comes a time when sleep is recuperative, maybe. Regarding the protien, I ordered the unjury and it isn't that bad. My Doc's PA said to go easy on the protien this first week. So I have been drinking Kellogs k2go or something like that. That burp hurts, it's here again and I am not real happy. BTY, when I saw my doctor the day after surgery, I looked him in the eye and said " I forgot to tell you, I wanted the surgery that DIDN'T hurt" He just stared at me for a few seconds with a look of surprise on his face, then smiled and said "Yeah, you did!" and started laughing. I was glad somebody was laughing! Cause it ain't me today! ***2 more days till full liquids, YUM!*** -
Hey what's wrong with me? I gained 8 pounds in the 2 days I was in the hospital! I hope it was from the IV fluids cause I didn't eat squat!

From June 06 to June 07 I lost 118 lbs
Waters replied to edieparks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am new to this forum and have enjoyed all of the information found here. I was really happy to read your post this morning. It seems that as I find different forums, I only run into all the folks that are disappointed with the lap band surgery. It also seems that these folks haven't lost much weight. I read a post yesterday from a woman who wrote she has lost 2 lbs. in the last several months. Here's the worst part, a very good friend of mine told my husband that if she knew then what she knows now she would not have had the surgery. Seems as though she had a "tough" time with a piece of chicken last week. My banding is scheduled for June 29, 2007 and I am getting scared. I am also getting crap from my husband who is now telling me I'm not THAT FAT! To be very honest, he has NEVER made comments about my weight. He didn't have to, I did enough for both of us. Anyway, he told me this morning that he didn't want me to have the surgery. He's afraid something will go wrong and I will be unhappy. Well hey! I'm unhappy now! Gosh, I 'm long winded today. But Edie, I have a queston for you. Was your road to success filled with lots of problems or just once in a while problems because maybe you were complient with the food restrictions? It's OK to lie to me! I really need to hear something positive, but it's OK to tell me the truth too! I'm tough, I can take it. Just a little shaky today. Thanks For Your Time. Waters
