Hi I’m also in Auckland and haven’t found a support Group as such, but there are people around from NZ on here who are helpful with questions. Happy to email if you have any questions, but I’m 4 years post op and can tell you life does get back to normal and it was worth it for me.

Hi there, I live in NZ and have been sleeved since June last year. Happy to have a chat and share my experiences

How's everyone getting on in the lead up to Christmas? Any tips from those who've been through the festive season already on what was helpful? Haha it's so hard with all the chocolates around at the moment! I'm just six months post op and feeling like my old self again, almost 30 kgs down. The measurements are what really amaze me though.

Undecided - Need honest opnions/ advice

Hi, I'm only 2 months post op, but already I feel back to normal and can eat any meats and vegetables I like, just smaller portions. I don't find I need to chew any differently and the occasional sip after eating so long as you haven't stuffed yourself seems to be ok. I can eat nuts and raw carrots etc, doesn't seem to be any issues with getting stuck. The only thing that doesn't feel so good is bread or potatoes etc, but I don't really feel like that stuff now any way (which I used to love). Sushi is fine too, just been having a couple of small pieces and taking it slow. The weight is just falling off at the moment and I think it's been well worthwhile making this decision. Good luck with your choices. -
Just try to keep walking when you drink, it helps with the nausea and reflux. Lots of people suggested listening strips, and they did help with the taste of the water for me. I'm 2 months post surgery and feeling pretty much back to normal now but i remember thinking how am I ever going to eat or drink again, but you adjust slowly so it will get better soon. Look after yourself.

You'll probably find that once it's finished, within the following week you will loose 1-2kgs. That's been happening to me in the last couple of months so I've just put it down to water weight. Also, I think because we are smaller and paying more attention to the weight loss on a daily basis, (well I am anyway) it's more noticeable than before. Hopefully you will find yourself loosing again in the next couple of weeks.

June sleevers, what are you eating?
Hayz replied to getlownurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I was sleeved on the 18th of June and am now back to eating whatever I feel like in small portions. Any breads or pastas etc are just too filling, so I've found cruskits or poppadom a great if I feel like something crunchy to have spreads or avocado, hummus etc on. How are you guys getting on now? -
"This too will pass" and you will feel so much better in a few days. The first week post op is the hardest, hang in there and hope you feel better once you get home.

When was it comfortable to sleep on your side/stomach again?
Hayz replied to supbanana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, ,it was about four to five weeks before I felt comfortable sleeping on my side or tummy again because the stitches felt tight in my sides and it was uncomfortable. I don't usually sleep on my back either, normally on my tummy, but I got used to it and also found that taking a pain killer like tramadol or paradol helped me get to sleep for the first 3 weeks. Also try propping yourself up a bit with an extra pillow perhaps so that it is easier to get up in the morning when it hurts the most. I found getting out of bed on the left side easier than the right. Hope you get some shut eye tonight -
Hi ladies I also had surgery mid June in Auckland with Stephanie. I'm still on the purée food phase and felling really good 2 1/2 weeks post op. Nice to hear from some fellow kiwis who have gone through the same thing. I'm also central Auckland so if you ever do catch up for a coffee would be interested too.
