Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Good Morning Bandsters, I am glad to report I had a great night's sleep- on my tummy!!! Oh, it felt sooo good, and I did not have to get up for meds. What a wonderful night! Then for breakfast I had a Slim Fast and boy, am I full! I am sitting here regreting drinking the whole thing. OnMyWay07 and Lynette- I have not weighted myself since surgery, and will only weight in at the dr.'s next week, because as Lynette said, one day I might not lose anything and then I will get depressed and might eat due to frustations, that's what I did in the past anyways. For me, walking, gas-x and a heating pad were key to get rid of gas pains. I hardly hurt anymore. NewCC- call your doctor! It does not sound good at all!!!

I am sorry- being hungry is no fun. Try to hang in there while you wait for a fill. It is hard, I know, but try to get your head on the final prize: a brand-new, healthier you! I am not physically hungry but head hunger is killing me- I am craving Cheetos really badly, I can even smell it. And just now I was walking around the house to get rid of some gas and all I could think about was food...my favorite restaurants etc... We all have demons to deal with. I am tired of fighting. I am ready to win the war!

I have never been one to like soups, but tonight I had some tomato soup from Costco that was awesome! Soooo flavorful, yummy. Boy, my tastes buds are changing. DH was scared at me eating the soup, he had plan B ready, but to his surprise -mine- I loved it! What's more, it took me longer to eat my 1 cup of soup than it took him to eat a mountain of past with shrimp, and a ton of bread and butter. First time in 10 years of marriage that he finishes a meal first. I love my band already!!!!

I don't think I have lost much, but am not planning on weighting until I go for my 2 week post-op appoitment. I have been feeling sick at the smell of certain foods, such as fresh bread. This makes me happy, actually, because this way I am not tempted! :rolleyes Good luck at the dr.'s tomorrow!

Good Morning Lucky 7s, I had a much better night, only got up once to take medicine and was able to sleep on my side for a couple of hours. Now this morning is a different matter. I crushed one of my medicines (Glucophage which I take for PCOS not diabetes) and it tasted so nasty, I threw up all over the kitchen. Eww. DH had to clean it up. I called the pharmacy and they do not have it in liquid form, so I don't know what I am going to do. Man, I wish I could get off it. Sunshine, I am having head hunger too. I am not at all hungry, as a matter of fact I am very full after a Slim Fast, but I kind of want to go into the kitchen, grab a bag of whatever junk, and eat it in front of the TV. Old habits die hard.

Bostonchic, I think we would all go crazy if it weren't for this site. I have my DH living with me and tries to be helpful but he really doesn't get it like someone who is going thru it right now. Also, dmjet is absolutely right about the food thing, there is no temptation in your house! Well, today I have my first scare with nausea. DH came back from the store with fresh bread, and immediately the smell made me very nauseous, I started to sweat and salivate a lot. So I laid down, turned on the fan and closed my eyes, it lasted about 20 min. and it wasn't fun. All the while DH was devoring a gigantic sandwich and chips and asking if I wanted something to eat. Uh, no, I am feeling sick!!! Poor thing wants to help but it's just not very good at it. A little while later he heated up some chicken broth and that went down nicely. Then we went for a walk around the block and I burped the entire way, so I am actually feeling much better now.
  9. I was banded yesterday and had my first BM today. I have added Benefiber to my Crystal Light.

Kathy- I used to have the worst neck pain and headaches ever. I took excedrin every day for years. Then I went to the chiropractor and in 2 weeks I was cured! No more excedrins for me. Lynette- I can't wait until I can eat mushies to try out your recipes. Yummy! Dmjet- we have not hit a 100o degree day here in TX. Hottest we've had was 93. Amazing, PA is now warmer than TX! Gladster12- my dr. said I can do it when I feel like it. Right now I think it will be a while, my tummy is sore and super un-sexy with all these bandages.

    Exercise after Banding

My dr. said 2 weeks until I can go back to Curves, light walking before that.

dmjet, at least there is a hint of sun in PA. It has been raining all the time here in TX, we haven't seen the sun in weeks. Plants are loving it, but all the corn and grapes from the vineyards are in jeopardy of being lost. A house in my neighbord got hit by lightning and the roof caught on fire, luckly nobody was injured. A few minutes ago I was feeling hungry so I grabbed a Slim Fastm halfway thru it I felt so full I stopped drinking. This band really is a miracle, an answer to my prayers. And, here comes a bit of too much information: I just had a BM. So exciting!

    Burping?

Banded yesterday (Friday) and having the same issues, my tummy is making really loud noises, and I burp when I walk or stand up. Not to be crude, but I have been passing a lot gas also.

    New AP Lap Band

I have one! Small AP band, 10ccs. Funny because after reading about it here, I asked my dr. and she cracked up, saying I wanted the latest model with all optionals. But of course!

dmjet, my dr. has me on sugar free jello and popsicles ( no fudsicles), chicken broth (I just had a cup for lunch and it was delicious!), tomato soup, V8, Slim Fast, water and Crystal Light for 2 weeks. Then mushies for 2 weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks, then normal foods. So yes, it will be 6 weeks before I am allowed to eat solids. I am doing good on it so far, hope this full feeling lasts!
  18. I got banded yesterday (Friday) and my dr. told me not to drive until Tuesday. Also, I am sore on the tummy and am finding it impossible to bend down, I have my DH doing all the bending for me. Stairs are fine. Good luck!

Jennyl, welcome! You will love it here, everyone is so nice and the support you get is priceless. Dmjet, enjoy your day 'off'! Sunshine- I am sore too, just telling myself it will pass soon and I will so happy and healthy. My dr. told me not to drive until Tuesday, which works for me, I need some R&R time. Chim- I also hurt when getting up and in/out of the car. Last night DH and I went for a walk around the block and it was great. Sleep wasn't so great. I hate sleeping on my back and was afraid the cats would climb on my tummy. One of them made herself comfortable between my legs and stayed there all night. I got up every 3 hours for my pain medicine, I don't do well with pain and enjoy 'drugs' very much Now this morning I crushed my pills and they tasted nasty, so I ate jell-o right after and that made it bearable. I have not eaten anything but jell-o and sugar free popsicles for 2 days now and am not hungry, so I will just enjoy the feeling while it lasts. I don't think I had more than 150 cal. yesterday and I am not cranky or anything, boy I love this band already!!!!:whoo: Now I am thinking I am going to have some chicken broth today to get some nutrition in, even though I am taking vitamins it seems to me I will get mal-nourished on jell-o only. I have set the timer for 60 minutes intervals, this way I know when to get up and walk around for a bit. I have an ice pack on my tummy and a heating pad on my shoulder. Nothing hurts badly at all, but again I am not one for pain.

Oh yes, I forgot to say that my bf called me before I went into surgery to tell me she was thinking of me and lighting a candle for me. So, I was being a big dramatic baby after all. I didn't realize how nervous I was until it was over.
  23. I was banded today and have being brinking craberry juice and Crystal Light, they are both going down great.
