Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

DH just calledme from work. He has been stuck on a project, and said after he came home and ate my awesome meal he went back to the office and had a break-thru. Yeah! At least I did not suffer for no reason at all :rolleyes Now he says he wants breakfast, lunch AND dinner every day. I'd better un-learn how to cook!!!!

Aren't you quite the cook! I can't wait for your recipes as we go thru the stages. Thanks!

Thank you Kathy!!!!!!!! I need some motivation. Here is my list: - Sleep better - Have more energy for my kids at school - To fit in airplane comfortably - To shop at normal stores and take advantage of all those fabulous discounts - Not be embrassed to look in the mirror - Not be so self-concious all the time - When I go somewhere, not having to worry if there is somebody fatter than me ( and saying silently Thank God I am not the fattest person here) - Cross my legs - Be able to exercise longer/harder - Being happy with whom I am and the choices I make - Better sex - More energy overall

Glad to hear everybody is doing great. As I was dreading, DH called me from work today all sweet and asking me to cook dinner for him. Ah! It was painful, cooking food that smelled soooooo good and not being able to taste it. I can't wait to get to solid foods, I know I am repeating myself here, but typing it is the only way to keep me sane during these moments of extreme temptation! Thanks you all for "listening."
  5. This is the induction phase of Atkins. It was my pre-op diet given to me by my nut minus caffeine and soda. I lost 11 lbs. in 2 weeks, and would do it again, but no more than once or tops twice a year, since it obviously can't be good for you.

    Night Before Freak Out

Ditto! I too had a major anxiety attack before being banded, for no reason at all. Everything has been great. If you are religious, pray for your guardian angel to help you.

    In need of an intervention

I am in the liquid stage also, and it is not easy. I am trying to stay busy and saying to myself over and over again that I can do anything for 2 weeks. Then I have the other stage to look forward to, and soon I will be able to eat anything in small amounts. Think about what made you want the band in the first place; do you want to go back to feeling unhealthy? So, hang in there and don't give in. We can do it!

dmbjet- wow! Amazing what 18 lbs. can do! Congrats! Kathy- I am sorry your sister won't babysit. Here in the US they provide babysitters for foster parents to have 1-1 time every once in a while, does Canada have something like that? Lynette- thanks for sharing your experiences with us. As Lindaa said, it will make it easier for us. OK, you know how cigarette ads were baned? I think we need to ban food ads from tv. Man, these Olive Garden commercials are killing me. I went to bed last night with my mouth watering so badly...I may lock mysef in the closet and not come out until all the wieight is off. Temptation everywhere, it can get frustrating.

    Which vitamin?

I take an adult chewable vitamin that is supposed to taste like pinnaple, chocolate calcium chews and orange with a hint of chocolate fish oil spread. Yummy!

    Soo confused about exercise

I don't know about the heart rate, but I go to Curves and I love it! I go there 3x/week,and walk and do dumbells 2x week. It is not much but it's what I can do at the present moment. I do plan on starting more strenous exercise once I am lighter. It's so so hard right now, as I get tired very easily.

    Whats your inspiration?

I want to have more energy. I am so tired of being tired all the time.

Kathy- what beautiful gestures those tatoos are! And yes, prayer works every time. You are so brave for going back to work and doing so much so soon! I have been slower than molasses. Marcy- the blueberries and salmon sound great. I love picking blueberries, and salmon is my fish of choice along with tuna. My granny used to live on a farm when I was little and I remember the chicken slaughter. Sad but not as bad as pigs or lambs. Dmjet- I have not tried any recipes yet because I am still on the liquid stage. I am trying to take advange of the fact I am not at all hungry and have been consuming less than 350 calories/day. I ate some SF jell-o for lunch today and felt so full, I couln't eat anything else for hours. But then DH made rice and shrimp for dinner, and it smells so wonderful, all I can think about now is food. Oh, well, my solid stage will come soon enough.

Caolin- congratulations and welcome to bandland! Katrina- My DH's birthday is also 911. I guess both the name/date make you unforgetable! BTW, has anybody bought recipe books for WLS patients? I ordered a couple today at amazon. Also, bariatriceating.com has some yummy recipes!
  16. I hear you- I just went thru that and it wasn't fun. I drank a LOT of water and slept as much as I possible could. Or I would just lay down on the couch holding a pillow and think positive toughts. It sounds weird but it really helped me. And of course, coming to this site and venting!

Dini- I can't go to Miami :-( because DH and I are taking our nieces to Disney World in Orlando the week after thanksgiving. So, I will be in FL, just wrong place! And with two little one it wouldn't be as much fun anyways. Dmjet- teachers start back on the 21st and students on the 28th. I will go back around the 15th like I always do to organize my room, paperwork etc without the clock the chasing me!

Hi Luckys, am I the only one having my hormones being throw out og wack by the band? I am on the pill, seasonale, that only gives you a period every 3 months. I have been on it for years and love it. Well, much to my surprise I get a visit from AF yesterday, when she is not due again until early October. And, cramps and all like there is no pill. I can only attribute this to the band. Otherwise I am doing really great and really happy (knock on wood) with my recovery so far. dmjet, we are in the 90's here in TX as well. Enjoy your pool! Dini, you are going to be one hot mama! Nurse, I think I am ready to give up the 'diet'mentality. I don't want to follow a commercial diet program ever again. Just eat little bites of everything like skinny people do. But since you already have the products, might as well use it, just don't treat it as a diet.

You will be fine!!! These thoughts are completely normal, I was panicked and freaked out before surgery, all for no reason at all. I am fine, I feel great, and so will you. Good Luck!!!!

    Banded Teachers Talk - BTT

I was banded last Friday and just got a letter from my principal: starting on Monday they are having all sorts of get-togethers, all based on food of course. And, they are going to feed us during all of our in-service days before school starts! AHH..it's so hard to work in a school with a bunch of females. Everything always revolves around food! I will have to be strong and say no no no...but with no fill it will take a lot of willpower. I will start working on it right now.

    Soda

I haven't had it for a long time, and I used to LOVE it- it was the first thing I did in the morning. Then I started reading and seeing in the news more and more how bad it is for you, even diet colas. So I gave it up cold turkey. And you know what? I don't miss it one bit. If I did it, so can you!

NewCC- I know it's easier said than done, but hang in there! Document everything like Frustrated said, and take your meds, you are likely to feel soon better. Lynette has a very good point also, you should not be so hard on yourself because your dr. is unresponsive. If you lose trust in him you should look for a new one. A patient needs to feel confident in her dr. Sunny- I have been sleeping a lot also- much more than usual. Luckly I have the whole week off. Lindaa- how is your family holding up? Kathy and Chim- hope you are feeling well today and nobody is giving you too much trouble at work. Good luck to all being banded today ( I am late I know) and tomorrow.

    Addiction Transfer?

I gave this a lot of thought before entering bandland. I have a major adictive personality and come from a family of addicts. Now that I can no longer eat, I spend most of the time on this board! I also go out and exercise every evening, but I feel I still need to find something else, like a hobby, that I enjoy and that will fullfill me.
