    Question for women only please

I had exactly the same problem. I am on the pill and got a visit the day after surgery that lasted for a week.

I am soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the dr. today and found out I lost 13 lbs. since surgery. So this put me at a total loss of 24 lbs. I told her I am starving and she wanted to do a fill, but couldn't because I am still on liquids. Was on liquids. She told me to go ahead and progress to mushies/softs for a week and start on solids next Saturday. I have an appointment 2 weeks from today for a fill. Also I found out that my new home scale shows 2 lbs. more than the dr.'s scale- I know that because I weighted just before I left the house. So I went walking at the rec. center ( 2 miles) , came home and had cheesy mashed potatoes!!! 1/2 cup of it, it was heaven!!!!!!! Lynette- I am still on vacation, therefore it's easy for me to go and exercise. Let's see how I do once I get back to work. Also, I don't have any kids, so I don't have as much to do at home. Kristin- I have scrapbooked before but would not call myself an addict. I do it on occasion when I am in the mood. Congrats to all on their weight losses!!!!

Dini- I love Curves! I have been going for over a year and couldn't do without. It's 3x/week, for 1/2 hour. I most def. recommend it. I have no restriction so nothing got stuck. I did chew the olives very very well. Chim- I am sorry about your tummy problems! I have not felt very full, so I can't relate. I can tell you that I went to the bathroom after my olives and that felt good. Sorry TMI. Jackie- I have been eating rock salt ( plain) believe it or not, I crave salt so much. My BP tends to be on the low side so I can never have enough salt. Mango- I have been adding Benefiber to my Crystal Light since pre-op and works wonders for me. Kathy- your kids sound delightful, and you are so obviouly proud of them, and in love with them. They are lucky to have you as a mom!
  4. I had not thought of it at all, but I see how it would make sense, especially in the pre-op phase. As others have said I would talk to my dr. first, as some drugs interact with your anesthesia and then things can go really wrong in the OR.

I went to a professional development today and have no idea what they talked about, all I could think about was food, I was starving, as in pre-banding starving. So when I get home I ate a tablespoon of shredded parmesan cheese and six Kalamata olives. I felt horrible but could honestly not hold any longer. I just had to have something 'real'. So now I am not nearly as hungry. But the good news is that in addition to Curves I got a membership to our local rec. center so I can go walking/exercising regardless of the weather. I live in a pretty small town so it does not have a lot of resources, but it does have a walking track and a small weigh room with threamills and stationary bikes- 2 of each. Dmjet and unru- I teach bilingual Sped K-2, and we teachers have to be back on the 21st, students on the 28th. It's coming!!!!

Thanks Ladies for the words of encouragement. I went back in the afternoon after taking some time off to 'digest' my findings, and started to go thru some stuff. I will give a lot of it away, throw away some pretty outdated stuff, put seasonal items in my parents' garage- they live by the school so it'll be easy for me to retrieve items at Xmas etc... I might also buy a couple of extra bookshelves so I have space to put stuff in. I find that if materials are put away too tightly I don't use them as much.

Chim and Lynette- yes, I am planning on giving tons of stuff away, but I still have to go thru it all and decide what stays and what goes. Also I am going to put seasonal items in tubs in my parents' garage, because mine of course is super full. But there are a lot of things bought with district money that must stay in the classroom. I have my job cut out for me that's for sure. Forgve- I know it's very frustating to see the scale going up, but there are a lot of factors to consider and Aunt Flo is a big differential. Just hang in there doing a good job like you have been, and the scale will reflect that in a few days. Shannon- I am glad to hear you have a nice work enviroment also. That's awesome!

Laurend- AC!!! Yeah!!!! Lynette- that's so sweet how they welcomed you back! I bet you had the best day. That's so nice to hear. Me, on the other hand, got completely overwhelmed at work today. I went by the school ( new school as I am moving to be closer to home) to drop off some stuff, and when I get there I find out the older teacher has retired and I have inhereted all of her stuff. 35 years worth of stuff. Plus of course I have my own 52 boxes. Honestly, I don't know what I am going to do. The room is bursting thru the seams, literally speaking, there was no walking space, it was like a maze. I felt like crying, so I just left. And I can't lift anything up yet because of the band. It's going to be a long 3 weeks before school starts.

    Banded Teachers Talk - BTT

Oh, my God, I am feeling so overwhelmed right now. I am moving to a new school close to home and went there this morning to drop off some of my stuff. Well, much to my surprise I found out the teacher who was there has retired, and left me everything she ever owned. I mean, a ton of stuff. Of course I have a ton of stuff too ( 52 boxes) so now I am trying to decide what to do with all that! Aw! I am going to have to hurry up and sort thru all of it, and I can't lift weight due to the surgery, so I just left everything and came home. I will go go to the dr. on Wednesday and am hoping she will tell me I can lift weight again. Anyways, just wanted to vent. Thanks for listenig!

Good luck to all going back to work tomorrow! I have to say I too am a Food Network addict. Watching right now. Torturing myself is what it's, but there is nothing else on. I watched The Bourne Ultimatum today and loved it, I am a big fan of that series.

Lots to catch up on! I am having a very lazy weekend, went to the movies yesterday and going again today with a different group of girlfriends. I told my friends yesterday and they were very surprised, but supportive. They did not know anything about WLS or LB so they asked a ton of questions I was happy to answer. Today I am going to see the Bourne Ultimatum and my friends already know. Hope everybody has a great day.

Caolin- bandter's hell mean you have been banded but still feel hungry because no fills yet. With me it happened on day 6. I am not allowed to eat any snacks, 3 meals/day only, but after being starved I found that an extra 1/2 cup tomato soup made me super full, how cool is that? Kathy- I can't believe they don't have Olive Garden in Canada! Now that's a good business opportunity! Have fun! Chim- hang in there! It too shall pass. Lynette-hope you are having fun in the sun! Jackie- I love the tax holiday also. We will have ours on Aug. 17/18, I can't wait. Well, I bought a new scale yesterday by homedics, it gives you BMI at the same time as your weight, and when you press your number it tells you what your weight was last time. I tought it was pretty cool. Accordind to it I have lost 9 lbs. since surgery, but because it's new I am not going to trust it, I will wait until I go to the dr. on Wednesday and see how close my home scale is to the dr.'s. I am going to go to the movies with a few girlfriends this afternoon. It should be fun except we are going to see ' No Reservations' which is of course about restaurant/food. My friends do not know about the surgery and I am planning on telling them today.

Kathy- so glad you can on a 'honeymoon' with your DH. The card idea is super cute! Have fun!!! Dini- I am sorry to hear about your marital problems. It is a very difficult situation , especially because you have such a young daughter. My prayers are with you. Aunt Phyl- scrambled eggs! I am sooo jealous! It will be three weeks before I am allowed that. Enjoy one for me!

I have been out all day and am competely exhausted. I think I was born to stay home and be pampered lol.... My dr. is very strict with the diet, they wanted me on clear liquids only for 2 weeks but I was able to 'negotiate' and include slim fast and tomato soup on my diet. So I don't have a lot of options and am bored with my food. But the good news is last night I tried doubling my amount of tomato soup and could not finish it, I felt sooo full. Weird.

It's official: I am in Bandster's Hell! Up until yesterday I felt no hunger whatsoever but today I wake up and voila, I am starving! And I have to be on liquids only until next Friday. Boy, it will be a long week. :faint:

Chim- congratulations! 11 lbs. in one week, it's amazing! Keep up the great work! Lynette- sorry to hear about your refi troubles. Why are there so many untrustworthy companies out there? Kristyn- I too think yoga at this stage would be too much. What did your dr. say about exercise? ssankofa- thanks for your opinion. I asked for it!

Where is everybody??? The school secretary just called and said they will be ordering non-shrinking polo shirts for all teachers and wanted to know my size. I froze in panick. What should I say? I decided to say 'large' because I did not want to outgrow my new shirt in no time at all. I am a 2x/1x right now. Did I go too far? Should I call her back and say xl? I did a google search on sizes and it says 12/14 is a large, and 16 is an xl. Help!:help:

I went out of the house today for the first time since surgery and came back completely exhausted. Hats off to you ladies who are back at work so soon. I was out less than 30 min. and came back and napped for 1 h 30 min. ! I think it's because I am not eating very much at all. Next week will be hard because I have workshops and appointments to go to so I won't be able to sleep all day. But, DH and I have been going for a 20 min. walk (very slowly) every day since surgery, so I believe that has helped with gas pains. I am so happy because I have not taken any pain meds since yesterday and don't feel much at all. Kim- congratulations on the willpower to sit in the car while mom/daughter ate at the restaurant! It must have been hard but it's well worth it in the long run.
