    I'm in love

I was that way about milk and those protein shakes did me in. I went in not liking them and went out not liking them though. I too was on the strainer diet and since I had my hatred for protein shake, I ate lots of soup. I found that Chick-Fil-A had the best chicken soup but I only ate the juice. The last week of liquids that is all I ate. I bought a large bowl and ate the juice for 2 meals and then my husband ate the noodles and the chicken. So you might try that for a change.

    Teachers Supporting Sleeved Teachers

I am a Texas teacher. I have been teaching K but this year I am moving to 1st grade. Excited for a change! I was sleeved on June 18th and have lost 27 pounds with pre-op diet. My goal is to get back into some clothes that are hanging in my closet and not have to buy clothes to go back to school this year. I need to lose about 10 more pounds. This stinking stall is not making me hopeful though. I had a 2 day workshop a week after surgery and I was still in so much pain. I was determined that I was not going to take pain meds while at school but on the 1st day at lunch I was in so much pain I asked my principal if it was ok to take them and she said, I was not in charge of kids so it was fine. She has also had this surgery so was completely understanding. Excited about hearing school success stories and weight los success stories! Thanks for starting this topic!

    june 2013 sleevers!

I was sleeved on June 18th and I have lost 27 pounds with pre-op diet included. I just went through about 2 weeks where I lost not a pound and in fact gained about 3. When I stepped on the scale yesterday, I had lost those 3 pounds so hopefully I am on the road to losing again. I teach school and I have clothes that for some reason I saved that I want to start back to school wearing but I need to lose about 10 more pounds to get into them. That is my goal for now.

    Vitamins

All of my vitamins are either chewable, sublingual or smaller than a pencil eraser. My Dr. told me to not take a pill unless it was the size of a pencil eraser or smaller.
  5. I am right there with you. I was sleeved on June 18th. With pre-op diet, I had lost 27 pds. 3 weeks after surgery, I stalled and even gained 2 pounds. I have been in this frustrating period of time for 2 weeks. I better see some pounds coming off soon. I just think if I went to this drastic of measures to lose weight, I had better be losing weight.

    Celebrex - HELP!

The nurse said it was because of the VSG and Cortisone being an anti-inflammatory. I have my 6 weeks check-up on Aug 1st so I am going to ask the Dr. My thought was that I wanted to get all of this Dr. stuff done before school starts back up and before my deductible year ends since it is met and I would pay nothing for the shots.
  7. I did the nothing that would fit through a strainer liquid diet for 3 weeks also. It was absolutely horrible. My problem was that I absolutely despise anything that even looks like milk. I just could not do those protein shakes. The last week I lived on nothing but strained soup. I am so happy to be on soft foods now and my whole diet revolves around getting enough protein at every meal. I feel so much better!

    Celebrex - HELP!

I have a knee pain that I was taking Aleve for each day before surgery. The Aleve helped but I can no longer take it. I called the nurse at my Drs. office to ask about getting cortisone shots in my knee and she said that I could not do that either but did say that Celebrex was what needed to be prescribed. I am trying to hold out to see if getting some more weight off will elevate some of the pain but it makes it really difficult to exercise when my knee is killing me.

    Im so thirsty !

I had my surgery a month ago. I have always been a big water drinker. The chugging thing is a problem for me too. I never feel like a get enough water with this sipping thing. Another thing I find difficult is the not drinking while eating. My husband was always amazed at how many time I would get my water glassed filled up when we went out to eat. I too am glad to hear that I will be able to drink more with time.
  10. I have 1 week left on my liquid post-op diet and I would rather not eat than drink a protein shake or eat soup. I am not milk drinker at all but I have tried to choke down protein shakes. At this point, my gag reflexes kick in when I even put a shake or soup to my mouth, My question is does anyone have any suggestions on something to eat/drink that will get me through this last week of liquids. Thanks so much for the advice!
  11. You know I wondered about the balance thing and surgery too. I was standing in the middle of our den the other night and just started falling all over the place. Fell into the computer desk, the closet door, the wall. I was like a ping pong ball. I got myself straightened up before actually falling but I knocked pictures off the wall, off the top of the computer desk.... Thanks for the reassurance everyone! I think I am ok. I am getting a little more sore as the day goes on my right side but not much difference in the left side and abdomen area. Still tugs but no pain. I am just so afraid that I am going to mess something up and this surgery be for nothing.
  12. It will be 4 weeks on Tuesday the 16th that I had surgery. This morning I was standing on our front porch steps and got my feet tangled up and fell off the bottom 2 steps. When I fell, I hit my right shoulder on a big flower pot at the bottom of the steps. I am not specifically hurting (not even my shoulder) but there is some tugging in my left side and abdomen area. I have had the tugging feeling in the last couple of weeks but it had gone away. Does anyone know if I had of tore something loose from my surgery would I be in terrible pain or should I be worried about this tugging feeling? I really think it is just soreness from the jarring but it scares me.

    Finally!

I had surgery on June 18th and I have not lost a pound in a week. In fact this morning I had gain a pound and a half. I am ready to get over this hump. It really doesn't make sense that I am taking in so little calories and that I gained weight. Congrats!
  14. I was prescribed Prilosec also and after surgery I did not take it but a week after surgery I was still in so much pain that I was having to take pain meds every 4 hours to keep the pain under control. When I would get on this site I would see posts where people were 2 days past surgery and feeling good and I was feeling like crap. I just happened upon another post that said that taking the Prilosec would help with the pain. I started taking it and within one day my pain was completely gone. I am now completely back to normal and feeling great! I asked my Dr. how long I would take it and he said a total of 6 weeks. I had a hiatal hernia repaired also and was taking Nexium daily before surgery. I was told that this repair would mean that I would be medication free so I am really hoping that is the case.

    Week 5 no weight loss

I am at week 3 post surgery and dealing with the same thing. I have lost 27 pounds with pre and post diet but have not lost a pound in a week. I have also started exercising so I am expecting the pounds to be falling off. Glad to hear others are experiencing this!
  16. I had surgery 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I am having a constant sharp pain in my left side. I was having pain in my left abdomen area but it has for the most part stopped hurting. This pain is in my actual side. Has anyone else had this pain? Is this normal?

    Pain in Side

Today is day 20 for me and oh my, I wish it would pop. I may go to do jumping jacks or something. LOL

    Pain in Side

New Mommy: Just curious. Has your stitch popped yet? I went to the Dr. last week and she also told me exactly what you said. Mine has not popped but I am so ready for it to. It doesn't hurt so much any more just feel some tugging when I move. I am finally able to sleep on my tummy which makes me so, so happy!
  19. I am right there with you. I am 17 days post-op and my dr. said nothing to eat or drink that won't go through a strainer for 21 days. I can not stand milk in every day life so getting in the protein has been next to impossible for me. I have tried every kind of protein drink. Ones you mix with juice, the Isopure and then several different kinds of protein shakes. They are make me feel like I am going to throw up if I have to drink them. I have decided at this point that I am 4 days away from eating soft foods and that I will wait until then and I can have eggs, greek yogurt, ground beef, etc. I have lost 25 pounds (11 pre-op) , taking my vitamins and I am feeling good. I will be glad when I can chew something though.

I too am ready for some dissolving to happen. Thanks for letting me know about the pop. I might have thought I had popped something that shouldn't have popped.

    Pain in Side

Thanks for your help! The pain is somewhat better today. Not so much pain in my side but has kind of moved to my back. I have never had any kind of surgery before and I have nothing to compare this to but my recovery from this surgery has been a tough one. I am a person that doesn't give in to pain or sickness and I have felt like a complete wimp with this. When I have these pains, my mind immediately goes to I have done something wrong and I am going to be the person that this surgery does not work for. I go to the dr. tomorrow for my post-op follow-up so maybe I will feel better about my worries. I have lost 23 pounds in 4 weeks (with pre-op diet) so that is exciting. Thanks for your reassurance!
  22. Thanks for the info. I am going to the health store today so I will check into Isopure. I am soooo ready to chew something and absolutely can not wait until July 9th when I can start adding food back into my life. In the meantime, Isopure sounds like it might get me through it.
