Brachioplasty-Arm Lift completed! Dr. Juan Pablo Cervantes
teacher replied to sherry24184's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had this surgery done this last July in the US. I had not worn shirts to show my arms in 20+ years and now I show my arms as much as possible. I had no pain at all. I took one pain pill and only took it because I was afraid not to. I did not have drain tubes either. Easy, easy recovery. I was back to my weight/cardio exercise class in 2 weeks. Best decision I ever made. -
I am having brachioplasty surgery on July 1st. I started thinking about it being a week away and questions kept running through my mind so I was glad to find this post. I am nervous but also ready to be able to wear cute, cool clothes in the summer and ditch the hot 3/4 length sleeve shirts. My husband has to go back to work on the July 2nd. Will I be able to stay by myself the day after surgery if I don't have to lift or reach for anything? I am a teacher and will have to start getting my classroom put back together around the 2nd week in August. Will I be able to put up bulletin boards and move light objects by this time? Thanks for all of the info!

So when does the hair loss stop? I have been losing hair for six weeks. I have stopped up 2 bathroom sinks and the bathtub. Surprisingly, I still have hair on my head. I have very thin hair and I was so worried about this stage of the process and ending up with no hair at all. I also tried everything made to keep this from happening and it happened anyway.

I don't know if having hiatal hernia surgery also made the difference but I had required training this summer 8 days after gastric sleeve surgery but I was in so much pain at the training that I was not sure if I was going to make it through the training. At lunch I had to go home and take pain meds to get through the afternoon. I have a high tolerance for pain and I was dying. -
So when I exercise my shorts are too big and fall down and my panties are too big so when my shorts fall down my panties fall down too. I have always bought my panties at Lane Bryant and bought the high leg. I liked these because I have a big lower stomach from excess skin and the high leg was not too high that my stomach roll fit in the panty and not over it and because they had pretty colors and laces, etc. Well, I was wearing a 14/16 in LB panties and their panties do not go smaller in size. Does anyone have some recommendations for panties that have the same qualities are LB's? I have lost 43 pounds but I still have this excess skin stomach that has to be tucked away.

On September 18th, I was 3 month post-op. I have started a cardio and small weight exercise class and I have found when I do sitting exercises like sit-ups or when I lay on my side to do leg lifts or side sit-ups that I can feel my stomach. It is almost like it is moving around or rolling around inside my body. Is this normal?

I just finished my first week of school after having surgery in June. I am tired but I do have to say teaching is so much easier physically with 35 less pounds. Bending over to tie shoes and to talk to students is much easier. Wishing everyone a great school year full of student success and health success! -
I tried one when I was on liquids and it tasted horrible. I love regular snowcones but the sugar free ones taste like eating ice with sweet and low on it.

Recovery is a b***h
teacher replied to newlifeforme1989's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had terrible pain with my surgery too. In fact, I felt horrible for about a week and a half and was thinking what in the heck did I do. About day 10-11, I turned a corner and started feeling so much better. I teach school so I have had the summer to recover and in the last 2 weeks, I have finally been able to say I completely feel good and have enough energy to not feel completely zapped at the end of the day. -
I am 8 weeks post-op. Why are there days when I have to make myself eat because I am never hungry and then there are days when I feel like I am hungry the whole entire day?

I could eat a horse today!
teacher replied to teacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my eating binge must have done something because I had not lost a pound in 3 weeks and I weighed this morning and I had lost 3 pounds. Woo Hoo! -
At my 6 weeks post-op appointment, my dr. cleared me to eat anything I wanted. My husband and I went to our favorite local Italian place and ordered a medium pizza. I ate 1 piece of thin crust, supreme pizza and I did fine and felt no guilt for eating it. Before surgery we would have finished off the whole medium pizza at the restaurant. That night we took home more than half so I feel that I am not going deprive myself of things that I like. I am just not going to eat the whole pizza.

I could eat a horse today!

I had a hiatal hernia repair when I had gastric sleeve surgery and had horrible reflux before surgery. My dr. said going into surgery that repairing this would eliminate the need for the acid reducer medication. I am doing great with the reflux. My stomach has not growled today. I just felt the need to eat. -

My Dr. told me to quit taking it at my 6 weeks appointment. Why would I not feel this everyday if that was the cause. I have basically been eating the same things for the last 2 weeks. Yogurt, deli meat, string cheese, protein for supper with veggie. Sometimes I eat a few bites and feel so full and then sometimes I could eat a horse and not feel full. -
I am about to ask for a refund! LOL. I am so frustrated! I posted my frustration above on the 11th and I am still in the same boat. I have not lost a pound in 3 weeks and this is my 2nd stall. All of this in 8 weeks! Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!

When was it comfortable to sleep on your side/stomach again?
teacher replied to supbanana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was about 2 weeks for me. I am a stomach sleeper and the first night I slept on my tummy after surgery was the best ever. -
I am 8 weeks post-op as well and I feel your pain. I have lost 4 pounds this month. I hit a stall, lost 4 pounds and hit another stall. Frustrating!

I was cleared for a bath at my 2 week post op appt. I was told no bath or swimming for 2 weeks. I am a bath person and I was so ready to take bath! I did not want to get out of the bathtub the first time after surgery!

First time at a real restaurant .....
teacher replied to dork's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When my husband and I go out to eat, my husband always asks where do you want to eat? My answer is I don't care where we eat but we need to eat somewhere that I can have a little bit of something off your plate. Also, if we don't go to a place where I can eat off his plate, I have a thermal bag that stays in the car and I pack a gallon size bag of ice before we leave home. I live in TX so it doesn't take long for food to spoil in the hot car in the summer so I put my to go container in the thermal bag with the ice. -
Do you ever like food again or want to eat again?
teacher replied to jp143's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was discussing this very subject with my husband this afternoon. I am 8 weeks post-op and I am rarely hungry. I basically eat because I know I am suppose to. When I do get excited about eating something or going out to eat, I get full so fast that eating is over before I start to enjoy it. But saying all of this, I am proud that the surgery is doing what it is suppose to do for me. I have been at a stall for about a month and want to see the scale move again but all in all I am happy with my decision. -
from size 18 jeans to 10 in 2 months 1 week!
teacher replied to Damaris67's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I started in a size 18 jean too and I am 2 months post-op and I have lost 31 pounds but I am a size 14. I have hit a stall and have only lost 4 pounds this month. Very aggravated but I am exercising and seem to be losing inches. I am a person that does not like my clothes to touch or pinch me so I may be wearing my clothes a bit big. LOL -
Getting frustrated with the scale!
teacher replied to bettyb71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I should have measured before I began this journey but with weight loss before this surgery, the scale has always been my motivation. I thought about increasing my calories but I already feel like every time I turn around I am eating and I get so full so fast. -
Getting frustrated with the scale!
teacher replied to bettyb71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand your frustration because I will be 8 weeks post-op on Tuesday and I am in the same boat. I think I have lost 4 pounds this month but yesterday I got on the scale and had gained 1.4 pounds. I am eating about 800 calories a day, which my dr. said to keep it between 800-1000. I am getting in my protein and water. I am walking 2 miles in just a little over 30 minutes every day. I am beyond frustrated. The only thing that is keeping me going is that my clothes do feel bigger so I think maybe I am losing inches instead of pounds but I am have to see it on the scale kind of girl! My dr. did say that if you would go back to liquids for a couple of days that it would jump start a stall. I hated every minute of liquids so I am not jumping on the band wagon to do that but I may have to. I am looking forward to seeing the responses from this post. -
I lI I lost weight the old fashion way many years ago and I was in the best shape I have ever been and I still had the bat wings. I looked into surgery back then but had too many other financial responsibilities at the time and then gained the weight back. I am 7 weeks post-op and hope to have this weight off and have bat wing surgery next summer. I have many flabby areas but my arms are the only flabby area that can't be covered by swimsuit and I only wear sleeves that cover the bat wings, which I hate. I want to wear cute little summer shirts!

How long did your week 3 (or first) stall last?
teacher replied to Chantel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 3 week stall last 2 weeks. I started walking and lost 4 pounds. Now I am at almost 7 weeks and stuck again. My clothes feel like I have lost weight but the scale does not show it. Very aggravated!
