  1. I hit a stall at two weeks that lasted almost 2 1/2 weeks. I lost inches though. My loss kicked back in with a 2 lb. loss overnight and about a pound per day since. It really messes with your head. Hang in there. It will pass! I'm almost 5 weeks out.

    Is 2 weeks reasonable?

I was sleeved on July 23rd. I took two weeks off, the second of which I worked from home (executive level, so time off is a challenge at best). I probably returned a week too soon, but I survived! I spent the next two Saturdays exhausted, but I've been seeing energy on Sundays! The more active I am, the better I feel. Walking regularly helps.

    Anyone on the 23rd?

I had mine on the 23rd! I'm doing relatively well. Getting all of my fluids and protein shakes in and healing nicely. Still sore, but up and around and walking. Glad the worst is over!

New DM onset - a1c is 7.8 - please help

Yes, please follow the advice of your peers and pcp. And know that surgery is trauma to the body. And the body responds by trying to kick back into gear. So, glucose increases! It will likely come back down in a few days or weeks, but it's the body's normal response and coping mechanism. That's why so many have high bgs the day of and right after surgery. Be good to yourself and your body. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

    This is so hard...

I did an oz. every 15 minutes. No gulping, just sips. My Doc had me on protein drinks right away to. They keep the nausea away if you drink them slowly. Hope you feel better!

    Hi

Hi all, I had my surgery July 23rd. I did not meet the weight requirements, but I had an early onset of Diabetes at 29, after having had PCOS. I have been losing weight for years. When I successfully became pregnant, my weight peaked. I have been losing weight since the day she was born 7 years ago. I have been fortunate enough to maintain the weight loss over the years. But, last November, for the first time in years, my A1c was out of control. Neither my eating not my exercise habits had changed. I've always followed the diabetes eating plan which was why I believe I was successful at weight loss and maintaining it. My world crashed as I realized I am only 42 and have a young daughter. I know insulin is the next step to complications. I was already on 3 medications. I also had high blood pressure and low "good" cholesterol, though my bad cholesterol was fine. I also have hypothyroidism. Anyway, my endocrinologist suggested the sleeve. So, here I am! My goal of this surgery is to reverse my diabetes so I can live a long, healthy life for my lil munchkin. I've been very fortunate. I'm feeling very good just a week out. Very little nausea and the pain is starting to subside. I had a great Doctor out of Dallas and I'm following his plan without fail which is why I think I've had such a positive experience. I'm off 2 of my Diabetes meds and my blood pressure med. My glucose levels are getting closer to normal than ever. I know I'm a newbie and I'm sure I'll make some mistakes, I've been reading this site for a couple of months. You all have been instrumental in keeping me motivated and positive. I hope to contribute going forward. Thank you. You've helped me without even knowing it!
