I was sleeved on July 8th. My husband filed for divorce and it will be final this week. Just remember that you did this for you!

July sleevers please check in..

I was sleeved on July 8th. I am down 49 pounds which does include post-op diet. -
Hang in there! It does get better each week. First two weeks were the worse for me. I was sleeved on July 8th and each week has been better.
-
Did you do the 2-week liquid diet prior to surgery? I was sleeved on July 8th also!
-
This question is for the older sleevers. Is taking off 2 weeks from your employment enough time for you and your body? Are you really ready to go back after only a couple of weeks? I am not quite sure how long I should take off. Thanks for any input you can give me. I was sleeved on July 8th, so it will be a week tomorrow and I am still not sure I am getting enough liquids.

That sounds good! Never thought of tofu. About how much tofu did you use?

Knowing What You Know Now, You would/not have...
hvdavis commented on morninflower's blog entry in morninflower's Blog
I was just sleeved on July 8th, and YES, knowing what I know now, in this short amount of time, I would do it all over again. I made the right decision for me! I was on a liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery and am still on a liquid diet. The purpose of being on the liquid diet prior to surgery is to deplete the glycogen stored in your liver, making the size of your liver smaller. This makes laparoscopic surgery easier for the surgeon and no chance of your liver getting in the way. I have not had to use Gas strips as of yet. When I eat to fast, or gulp my liquids it hurts. The bubbles are a killer, like Shelley said. I also have learned a lot on this forum in just the short amount of time I have been on and there is a lot of support here. -
I am a July 8th'er also. I am doing well keeping liquids down, but I am afraid that I am not drinking enough. I am having 1/2 cup of broth and SF Jello, but still do not think I am taking in enough liquids. My doctor stressed protein shakes, but I have yet to find one that I can tolerate at this time. I am going to try the G2. Mornings are my toughest time. I feel the worse; not sure if it is because my stomach is empty, dehydrated, but it takes me a few hours to get myself going. Feeling pretty good otherwise.

I am getting ready to leave for the hospital and am a bit anxious. You will do great!! Just keep positive thoughts and know you are not going through this alone. -

I am on July 8th also! Having a rough time on the pre-op diet also. Soooooo hungry! Have you found a good protein drink? I have been trying but have not found one that I can tolerate.

My upcoming surgery is getting closer. The big day is July 8th. I have been on the liquid diet since last week and I get very hungry at times, but I can get through this! I have been trying different protein shakes and have not found 1 that I can handle. Has anyone had luck in finding a decent tasting protein drink? If anyone has any tips, I would be grateful to hear them.
