I get the sharp pain within a day or two after my fills too. But it goes away in a couple of days and I'm fine.
-
I too had my second fill last week. And I too finally have restriction. And yes, the pain is terrible when it gets stuck so I am truly learning to slow down and chew, chew, chew. Even stuff I thought would go right through gets stuck. I have to be so careful. BUT THANK GOD I FINALLY HAVE RESTRICTION!!!
-
I too went yesterday for my second fill, but I didn't lose, I actually gained a pound!! I told the doc I didn't have any restriction and so that just proved it. Now I do. I have 6cc in a 10cc band. I have to eat slow with small bites. Yah!

Trouble getting back on track

I know I need a fill too. Thank God I go tomorrow morning for my second fill. I have not restriction at all and I think as long as I chew well I could eat a horse!!! -
Are you taking pain killers? Narcotics tend to cause hot flashes in both men and women.

Current Bandsters - Am I over reacting? (Pre-op concerns)-

I can't miss the first few days of the month at work either. Any chance you are in Accounting? I am. Anyhow, I had my surgery on Friday, and was back to work the next Tuesday. I could have gone in on Monday with no problem but I had the time so I took it. I had no problems. -
:cry I have to agree with you 100%! :help::faint:

My understanding is the law did not pass. This may have been another brain storm of our brainless Governor. He has come up with some strange crap in MHO since he took office. GOD help us!

This is the second person I've heard of having this infection. My uncle, 80+ years old, lives with DH & I because he can't live alone anymore. He was just in the hospital with this same infection. Before then, I never even heard of it. They did all kinds of tests and when the results came back, off to isolation he went. This is a very serious condition and highly contagious (spelling). So please, do keep cleaning your bathrooms and wash your hands in soap and hot water as hot as you can take it frequently. Thank God Uncle Bob's infection was caught early enough for them to take proper action and is now home with us again. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm just the opposite. I can eat anything. I had one fill over a week ago and still no restriction. It's frustrating cuz right now I am applying will power like crazy. I'm hungry and want to eat. I admit I eat a bit less than I did before the band, but I have no real restriction and I'm amazed how much I can eat. I go back in 2 weeks for another fill. I'm crossing my fingers this time I will get some restriction. I'm afraid my will power will fade soon as it has always done in the past!

I did and got my Pedometer too. Sounds like the same one from the same company. I have not put it to use yet, as I'm not too bright when it comes to gizmos but I will get it out and have hubby or daughter show me how to use it. LOL

I can't get away from the holiday or the food if I wanted too. I'm cooking for 16 people! BUT, since I'm doing the cooking I control how much butter, cream, and so on goes into the food. I also know the menu so I am well prepared to be choosy about what food I put on my SMALL plate. I will still use a small plate and fork. Dark meat turkey, veggies (fresh steamed grean beans & carrots) and some salad in a small desert bowl. That is it. Maybe later, MAYBE.....I may have a sliver of pumpkin pie which is homemade by my father-in-law. But we will see if I have any room, I don't plan too!!!

I feel like such a fool! Warning this post contains a "break-up" email*

I too agree with want2beme. I feel it is jealousy. I have a friend that for the past few years we were attending weight watchers. Sometimes I'd lose a few pounds more sometimes she did. Although we did not attend the meetings and weigh-in together, each week she would either email me at work or call me and ask me how much did I lose or gain. Then once again as always for me, we fell off the band wagon and gained it all back. Since the day I told her I was going for the lap-band she was against it. Never a good thing to say about it. Well here I am down about 42 pounds total (22 since surgery) and I have not seen her. If I don't call her, I just don't hear from her. So now we talk only once in a while. I'm proud of my weight loss, and anyone who does not care/like it can go pound sand! -

I saw this article on MSN.com this morning. Thought it was interesting since we just recently had this discussion here on the forum. How Barack Obama Broke the LawDo you really need to put your hand on your heart during the national anthem? By Torie Bosch Posted Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at 4:24 PM ET Some conservative bloggers are furious about a photo showing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama without his hand on his heart during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Obama has countered that the photo was taken during the national anthem, not the Pledge of Allegiance—so he didn't have to. Is that true? No. According to U.S. law, a civilian like Obama is supposed to stand up when the anthem is played, take off his hat, face the flag, and put his right hand over his heart. Members of the military can keep their hats on and salute instead of placing their hands on their hearts. The rules of conduct regarding the anthem, the pledge, and the American flag weren't always a matter of law. At first, they were just tradition. "The Star-Spangled Banner" lyrics were originally written during the War of 1812. Later in the 19th century, the Army and Navy both began to use it during ceremonies, but it only became the congressionally recognized national anthem in 1931. Meanwhile, the Pledge of Allegiance was first used in public schools in 1892 to Celebrate Columbus Day and only made it into the law books in the 1940s.

Getting fills without fluoroscopy...
babs0101 replied to christy071707's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill on Tuesday. My surgeon just felt my stomach with his fingers and in went the needle. No pain, but I don't have any restriction either. I'm 2 days from that fill and still no restriction. I have an appointment to get a second fill in 3 weeks, I hope that one gives some restriction. I'm hungry. -
It's 2 days since my first fill and I still feel nothing. I'm hungry! Now I can't wait to go back in 3 weeks to get another, hopefully that will give me some restriction.
-
I had my first fill yesterday morning. I have no restriction. I don't feel any different and have to wonder also if the Doc missed the port. He did not use flouroscope just felt for my port with his fingers and in went the needle. Did not hurt, but I feel nothing, no restriction at all.
-
I had my first fill this morning. No problem. After the fill the doc had me drink some water and it was fine. I don't know how much fill I got, but I sure don't feel any different. I'm liquids for the next 2 days, not clear, just liquids, protein shakes, soups, pudding, that kind of stuff. Then I can go back to solids as tolorated. I go back in 3 weeks for another fill. Hope I can get some restriction soon, I'm hungry!!!

Does anyone go to Pioneer Valley Surgical Associates?
babs0101 replied to iheartcats's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to their office. I was banded by Dr. Fiallo on Oct. 5th. Today I had my first fill. I am down 42 pounds total, 22 since surgery. I feel great. I like them. -
anyone else still able to eat without any problems after first fii?
babs0101 replied to taffiegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I just had my first fill this morning. Back on liquids
for 2 two days. But the Surgeon told me to be back in 3 weeks for another fill. I'm already scheduled. He said I should get "some" restriction from this one, but some people don't until they have had 2 -3. Right now I feel no difference. But I'm crossing my fingers!!! -
Banded 10/5/07 with no faimly support
babs0101 replied to ShhhhDontTell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Shhhhh........Welcome. You've got tons of support here. I was banded on the 5th of Oct too. I go tomorrow for my first fill, I sure hope I do get some restriction. As for your family, the only ones that count the most are those who stick by you...your hubby and your daughter. All other things will come in time. And don't let anyone tell you that you took the easy way out....that is so bogus. Welcome and best of luck!!! -
Did your Dr make you ???
babs0101 replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doctor did not require a liquid pre-op diet. My insurance company required I participate in a 6 month supervised diet. During this time I lost just over 20 lbs. This was plenty for my liver to shrink and make my surgery a safe on. So the surgeon did not require liquids pre-op. I'm so glad of that too!! -
I asked what band I was getting before the surgery. I do have the new AP band.
