Pre-op Weight Loss
babs0101 replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do the 6 month supervised diet too. I lost 20 lbs before surgery. Don't worry about losing weight prior to surgery, the docs submit to the insurance company your starting weight. That is the weight they consider your surgery. Showing you are serious and losing a few pounds will help you, besides making your surgery a bit safer as it will help to shrink your liver. My nutrionist had me on adipex for weight loss. It helped to curb my appetite. -
that pain you get when you dont chew enough...
babs0101 replied to smed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need to learn these new habits as well. I get such terrible pain in my chest when something gets stuck. Think I'd learn by now! -
can hiccuping cause a slip??
babs0101 replied to restrict2008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as I know I do not have a slipped band, and I have been hiccupping since day one. Some times it is mild, but I have to tell you sometimes they are harsh and they hurt. Some have even caused me to PB. Gross! Anyway, I have no real answer but will keep my eye on the responses because now I'm concerned too! -
Lots of restriction and pain, still hunger...
babs0101 replied to nicey in WA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too have pain when I eat. It's been a month since my last fill and I think I am tighter now than I was 2 weeks ago. I try to eat very slow and chew well, but the pain will start and then I run for the bathroom, up it comes. I don't usually have a problem in the morning getting my coffee down, but certainly no food. Not until almost lunch time. Then I'm tight again and can't eat dinner. I called my doc this morning and they suggested I wait till monday and call back if this does not improve. The tightness in the am and pm is very normal. But I shouldn't have pain and pb all the time. So I was instructed to keep chewing very well and see if there is an improvement. But if it gets worse, then I have to call right away. -
Has anyone had this done in Massachusetts?
babs0101 replied to LSF's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm in western Mass and had the banding done in Springfield by Dr. Fiallo. -
Since I had myself added, I'm down 10 pounds! 16 more to go and I will hit this goal. Of course, I'll be setting another!

Hi! I'm new from North Jersey
babs0101 replied to Jersey Boy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Jersey Boy! It's me, Barb. Anyway, this site is fantastic for all the info you will need. Your time for the supervised diet will go by quickly and before you know it you will be banded. And when we see each other in October, we won't recongnize each other!! LOL Give me a shout if you need anything! -
unsupport from my boss...need advice.
babs0101 replied to JennaJ221's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a "jerk of all trades". I work for a small company and my hats change every minute. My "title" is Accounting Manager. I also handle all Personnel and Human Resourses. I have been doing this for many many years. Your boss is so out of line. I have plenty of employees coming to me for numerous reasons, they are sick, some with cancer, some with issues not so serious. My point is, I would NEVER EVER give advise on their situations. I try to help when asked, but I never give my personal opinion (and believe me, I have plenty!) Go to someone over her head and discuss the situation. Or confront her directly, she is violating your rights! -
How to eat mushies and still lose?
babs0101 replied to citygirl4616's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This might sound gross, but I have to tell you it sure tasted good! When I was on the mushie stage, I'd put just about anything into a blender or grinder. One of my favs were hotdogs. Yup, I'd grind up a few hotdogs along with the onion, relish, mustard. No bun, but I'd mash the baked beans on the side and eat that for dinner. Sometimes even the saurkraut went in. It was yummy. -
Hi everyone, I"m 49, just turned on the first of this month! I guess I only get to post here for one more year!! I'm doing well with my band, down 50 lbs since starting this process. I feel good, and if I do say so myself.........I look good!! LOL Best of luck to everyone!

Your weight is sitting in a different place. You may have more belly fat than before you had your baby. Don't worry, they will fit sooner or later, hand in there!

That's awesome!! Keep up the good work! I go for my fourth fill on the 29th of this month. So we will see!!!

Where are my ?? going!
babs0101 replied to parrot0927's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost a bit in the boobs too. I've gone from a 46DD to a 42/40DD. I'm loving it. I hope I lose enough to get the cup size down to a C or D. That would be just fine with me. Only thing is they are deflated!!! LOL -

I'm usually pretty tight after a fill too. Within a day or so and wham, I'm tight. Warm liquids such as hot tea and broth seem to help ease any discomfort for me.

I too have to APS. In my 10cc band, my first fill was 3 cc. This did nothing. I told my Doc that and he gave me another 3 cc. I just last week had my third fill this time only .5 cc's. So now I have 6.5cc's and I have restriction. I'm loving it, such small amounts of food keeping me happy, I still can't believe it!

Cannot Eat During The Day Have Had 2-unfills
babs0101 replied to sandras96harley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Julie is right. That is just what I have to do. I am too tight in the morning to eat. I have coffee, some liquids and a protein shake. Lunch I keep to soft proteins. Dinner I'm usually just fine with most stuff. Bread is a no no for me, but i don't really miss it. So far, so good. I stick to this as when I get stuck, it hurts like hell! -
If I eat too fast, or do not chew enough, God help me. I'm in so much pain!!! And the hic-ups start and they hurt like hell too! I have had 3 fills to date, now have 6.5 cc in a 10cc band and I have restriction, good restriction. None after the first fill, some from the second and the third really did it. And the 3rd was only .5 cc! But what a difference! But I am learning slowly to eat slow, chew well. So I suffer more than I should.

Don't worry, if you end up killing your sister, I have four and I'll give you one of mine!! Try not to let her get to you and enjoy the Holiday with the family.

I have a terrible handbag fettish. My cedar chest is so full that I can't close it and that is AFTER I cleaned it out and took out about 2/3 of the bags and sent them to my sisters. But that doesn't stop me from looking and buying more! God help me! I have spent thousands of dollars on just the handbags, not to mention shoes!! Stone Mountain is one of my favorite bags, I too prefer leather over fabric. I do have some nine-west, and goodness knows what else. I check out the coaches, the dooney burkes, and fossils all the time, but I just can't bring myself to spend more than a $100 for a bag. And shoes, oh please. I have shoes coming out of my walkin closet!

anyone bought a medic-alert bracelet?
babs0101 replied to hope36ca's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I always wore one prior to lap-band because I am allergic to Penicillin. So instead of ordering another stainless steal bracelet which I didn't like anyway, I ordered a med-allert charm and had that engraved with my allergy and lap-band. This charm is on a bracelet that my daughter gave me for mother's day last year. I wear it all the time and it's pretty. -
I agree with Jack, call your doctor now!

So Disappointed In Myself...
babs0101 replied to lizzie_07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there!! I too gained. It took till my second fill before I got good restriction. I had none with my first fill, but was able to go for my second just three weeks after. Now I'm perfect!! It will come, yup, it sure will! -
I always start my shopping early and I do most of it during my lunch hour. I'm done by Thanksgiving, including the wrapping. Yes, I know, people hate me. But I've always done it this way and I stay away from the crowded stores now. Just sitting back waiting for Christmas to come
