I never even noticed the friend counter before! LOL

I too know my port is there when having sex. No pain, just know it's there. I have no problem with any positions....so far. When DH is on top I can definitely feel the pressure against my port, but it's not painful.

Have you had any fills? Are you watching your calorie intake? Exercising? Are you finding yourself eating around the band? ie: ice cream, shakes, etc.
-
Sorry, I too missed the meeting. Gonna try the next one. I had a death in the family and I just couldn't put that aside. Glad all is ok with your recovery so far. Keep us posted. We'll meet up at the next meeting, or the Post op meeting. Just let me know which one. You can't miss me, I have long red hair.

I fully understand! I have people at work asking me when I'm stopping. When I tell them in about 40 lbs the look on their faces! A few even said no way, they wouldn't be able to see me! Kinda funny, I still see myself fat!

went for a defill today and I think they took out too much....
babs0101 replied to sizzlingseven's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You may want to wait a week or two before going back in for a fill. 1/2 (.5) a cc isn't really that much. Give yourself a little break, eat healthy, and go back for a fill but maybe start with only .25 (1/4) cc. I was having trouble a few weeks ago simular to yours and I had an unfill. Doc took 1cc out. I knew as soon as he said it it was too much. But I've delt with it for a few weeks. Yes, I eat more than I think I should but not nearly as much as pre-band. I go tuesday to get some fill put back in. Only asking for 1/2 cc. I don't like staying up at night with heartburn. -
I know I'm late on this thread, but I just found it. Congrats on the Grey, they make wonderful pets, I have one. Mine also is a Congo African Grey. We don't know if he's a boy or girl, but we call him a boy. His name is Tatu. We found it online under african names although the name is actually for a girl, but it's the only one we could pronounce!! LOL We've had him for about 8 - 9 years now. He talks up a storm and is quite comical. He's friendly, loves attention. And yes, he's spoiled, but we tend to spoil all our pets. 3 birds (aftrican grey, dusky conure, & blue indian ring neck parakeet) and 3 dogs! Yes my house is noisy!

LMAO. These are great! Keep going! And I so can relate to the scale love/hate relationship. I want a new one! LOL -
I think DH and I waited maybe 2-3 days. I was not unfortable or anything so we were fine. I did ask my doctor and he too said as soon as I was comfy with it. He smiled and said "be creative". No problem!

Coughing and sliming all night...can't sleep
babs0101 replied to Ms. NYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue, but it was nightly. I was too tight, and with it I had reflux, gross! I had a little fill taken out and it is so much better. Nice to be able to sleep again. -

I have little trouble when eating alone....
babs0101 replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will give the spring mix a try. I do love salad so it will be worth the try. As for the fill being back in, I'm torn. I want to be able to eat something, but I did like the restriction as I didn't have to "work" so hard staying on course. When I do go for the fill, I won't have as much put back in as the doc took out. Gonna go slow and steady! -
I wrote it on my calendar, I'm planning on going. I'll bring my 2 daughters who are both looking to be banded and have begun the process. See you soon!

I have little trouble when eating alone....
babs0101 replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I miss salad. I can't eat it whether I take nibbles and chew, chew and chew, or a big ol' bite. Like the rest of you I find my troubles when I eat too fast, take too large of bite, try to "keep up". I was PBing so much, I did finally go have a little fill taken out. Now I don't think I have enough restriction. I can't wait until I go get the fill back in, 3 weeks to go!! -
Is there one thing you hate or miss since having the surgery?
babs0101 replied to Sarah.R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't lose my boobs! I wish I did. I've decrease in bra size but not cup size. Gone from a 46DD to a 38DD. Those boobs are "hanging" in there! OMG I miss alot of foods that I didn't think I would. Burgers, bread, Pasta. I struggle. Red meat (which is/always has been my favorite) chicken breast, no white meat for me, I have to have the dark now and only small amounts chewed very well. But most important is not what you will miss, but what you will NOT miss. I don't miss going up the stairs huffing and puffing. I don't miss not being able to sit in a booth at a resturant. I don't miss stuggling to zip my jeans because I refuse to buy the next size or two up. I don't miss feeling guilty everytime I popped something in my mouth. Like I had no right to be eating because I was too fat. I don't miss the lack of energy. I could just go on and on. -
2 Months Banded in CT, disgusted with Self
babs0101 replied to Eris's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Have you had any fills yet? If not you won't feel much restriction. Once you get to the "sweet spot" your restriction will not allow you to be crazy with food. One thing you have to keep in your head, this is only a tool. You get out of the band what you put into it. I've not lost anything in the past few months, staying the same, yet I'd like to lose another 20 - 40 lbs. Will it happen? I don't know, depends totally on me. -
Regardless of insurance issues, I suggest you get yourself to your doctor.
-
I don't have the words to say anything. I'm sorry for your loss, your friend's family's loss. And for the loss of another American. God Bless each and every one of our soldiers.
-
When is the next support group? I have not been to the pre-banders since my banding and would like to go. Maybe even get to meet some of you!
-
I can see where being obese can contribute to Global Warming. I know that before I lost my 80 lbs, my hot flashes were alot more intense than they are now! I swear I could heat the house through winter with no help! Thank God they have backed off since losing weight!!
-
I have trouble with salad. It's like I can't chew it enough no matter what. I think it is going down ok, then BAM! I'm off and running for the bathroom. So I avoid salad most of the time. Which is a real bummer for me since I love salad. Eating out is difficult for me. I have so much trouble eating so many foods, that I usually just order a cup of soup and leave it at that. Hey, it works. I love my band and wouldn't trade it for anything!
-
Oh Juli, your post had me in stitches. I do exactly that! PB in the toilet trying not to let the water get me.....and then back to the table and debate with myself. I do usually just push the plate away, but a few times, I've continued, and back to the bathroom I went!
-
It is the same for me to. It just shoots out. Gross I know, but I to feel better when it's over, no more pain and pressure.

Actually the 12 step program for addicts does just that. Helps you to deal with the root of the problem that led you to addiction to begin with. You must take it one step at a time. Admit you have a problem, seek support and understanding that you are not alone, recognize your triggers, forgiveness, etc. My daughter is a drug addict. She has been in recovery for some time now, attends meetings regularly, and I've attended some with her. I can easily apply the 12 step to recovery to my addiction to food. In fact, going to the meetings made me realize I am addicted to food. Who was I kidding all these years!
