As much as I try not to judge, I am no better than the next guy and I do judge. IF this picture is correct and the statement is correct that Obama did not place his hand on is heart during the National Anthem, then shame shame on him. The Flag and our National Anthem stands for America. The President also stands for America. If the President has no respect for America, then get the hell out of it. And that goes for anyone who does not respect the Flag and Country our forefathers have fault for with their lives. Stop and think! Freedom is NOT Free. "In my opinion, Love it or leave it!"

First let me say Congrats to your decision to learn to ride your own. Once you get off the back, sometimes it's hard to get back on, even just for short jaunts. I will always recommend a full face helmet. Make sure it fits properly. It can save your life and your face!! (yes, I know from experience) You will learn in class that your bike goes where your eyes go. So be sure to look where you WANT to go. As for bikes, whatever you choose you should be able to sit on it comfortably with your feet flat on the ground. I would not recommend a Honda Rebel as I believe the engine size is only about 250 cc which is really small. You should look for a bike in the 650 cc to 1100cc range. You don't want to buy a bike this year and out grow it quickly and be looking to upgrade next year. Both Honda and Yamaha have great bikes and you can find used easily. Best of luck and keep the shiney side up!!

Have your HR Dept. call your insurance while you are sitting right there and ask the question.

I called my insurance. I wanted to know first the requirements for approval. Then I called to follow up with paperwork when I completed the requirements, then I called when I got the approval letter because I just couldn't believe it!! LOL

Banded 10/1/2007 - IM GAINING!
babs0101 replied to MissKim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on 10/5 and I too am hungry. I've lost 13 lbs since surgery, but now I've gained a pound or two back when I got on the scale last night. I'm on mushies, but can eat more than I think I should. I'm due for a fill on 11/13 and I can't wait! I pray I get some restriction. I'm eating healthier foods, but I am still eating larger quanitities than I think I should be. I think I'm in "banster hell". -
Welcome to Bandland! Keep going to curves, it helps. I went to curves for a year prior to banding, and now I have a membership at the Y. I need to focus more on weights (yuck) so that is where I am.

Well I'm just over 2 weeks post-op. Last evening DH and I went for a ride on the bike. We rode 2 up as he crashed his and he has not yet replaced it. First I rode with him as the "bitch" and all was fine. I was nervous because my bike is heavy (Royal Star Tour Deluxe) and with DH on the bike it is even heavier. But I did great. No problem, no pain. Then it was DH's turn to be the rider and I rode on the back (won't call myself a bitch!)LOL I swear he hit every darn pot hole, bump, whatever in the road! Hitting the bumps did hurt. I was holding my tummy by the time we got home! Glad his bike is coming in this week!

Since I'm on pureed, soft mushies, I put my piece of chicken breast in the processor and let it rip! Mushed it right up, added a tiny bit of FF gravy to keep it moist, also broth works, and yummy! Great with mashed potatoes. And of course cranberry sauce is mushie! That was it for me. One piece of chicken got me 3 meals!

I had no problem with stairs. I slept in my own bed on the second floor right away. I came back to work just three days after surgery and yes my office is on the second floor, and no, we do not have an elevator as our building is old. I go up and down those stairs a dozen times a day (I should be skinny). I have had no issues at all.

Congrats Janet and best of luck. Soon you will be with us in Bandland! -
Should I change my ticker to only reflect weight loss since surgery??
-
I've lost 20 lbs since Juneto my surgery date, 10/5. It was while on my 6 month program before my insurance would approve me. I've lost the other 12 since surgery. More actually, but I don't want to get on the scale again yet. But I feel it. Thanks for letting me in on the convoy! :whoo:

I agree cooking for the family and not being able to eat it is very very hard. But I've only got 2 more weeks of mushies and I can try solids. So I will hang in there!

Hey don't forget me!!! I'm in Massachusetts! I'll travel, I love driving my bug. It's mellow yellow with black top. I want to be apart of the bugtrain! I've been taking nexium for years, my doc said to keep taking it for a while, maybe some day I can come off, but for now I don't have any problems with heart burn or acid reflux. Call your doc!
-
Best of luck Angelica! You will be just fine. Be sure to let us know how you are doing

Yes vfran, it is most likely from the anesthesia. You should be just fine in a day or two. If you should start to feel worst or you develope a fever be sure to call your surgeon. Welcome to bandland!

Good luck and welcome to bandland!

Hi and Welcome Susan. I too was banded on the 5th. Lots of great people hang out in here so grab your protein shake and pull up a chair and sit a spell!
-
I'm with you! I'm going out of my head. Craving some substance. How about a cheeseburger with the works! Tonight for supper the family is having pork chops, I'll actually take the bone and suck on it just for flavor! What I'm going to eat, I haven't a clue. Probably left over mashed potatoes from the weekend. I have no restriction so this is really hard. I'm hungry and I want to chew! 9 days to go and I can start solid foods SLOWLY. (yeah right! hide the cows)

I can't say I've really noticed anything, but my uncle who lives with me says he sees it alot in my face. That made me feel good that he noticed. DH says he feels it more than sees it. When he hugs me he says it feels like less to squeeze (yeah)!

Hey, I too have a convertable VW Beetle. 2006 Standard shift, "mellow yellow". I just love it. It's fun, and I have to tell you..........I LOOK GOOD IN IT! It goes well with my long red hair!
-
I'm hungry too! I've been on pureed, soft, mushies for almost a week and can't be satisfied with just 1/2 c. of food. I want more. Even though I'm not drinking with my meals I get a bit hungry before my four hours are up too. I usually have a little snack, sf pudding, sf jello, yogurt, or protein shake to hold me over until the next meal. I have to tell ya, I'm just dying for a big juicey cheeseburger with the works!!! OMG!

Good luck to you too Amber and welcome back!
