I had a lap band for 5 years and after 3 years I started having extreme reflux. I tried protonix, nexium and had an endoscopy to see if there was a problem with the band. The results showed no problem with the band but i did have a hiatal hernia and was told that I needed to have that repaired and it would fix the problem. I had surgery and still had the reflux! I did not have the reflux as long as i kept the band loose and began gaining my weight back. I paid 14,000 out of pocket for the lap band and just got it paid off when i decided to have it removed and the sleeve done. I went through mexico Bariatric for a revision 7/24/13 and it cost 5,800. I went alone and was scared to death. Everything went so smooth and i was treated like a queen. I am so glad i had it done. I have the unique ability to know what the lap band feels like compared to the sleeve. I have to say the sleeve feels so much better than the band. When I eat the food goes all the way down into my stomach and feels normal. With the band the food gets hung up in the throat after just a few bites and leaves you feeling frustrated. I wish I would have chose to go to mexico and the sleeve 5 years ago.
