    Sleeved 7/19 need some advice..

You should probably contact your surgeon if you are not releasing gas out of your body within the next day or two. I was unable to while in the hospital but I was able to by day 4 following surgery. Are you on pain meds?

    Feeling discouraged.

Is it a clear liquid diet or an all liquid diet? I know I was on a clear liquid diet in the hospital but was on a full liquid when I went home.

    Torn...

I was all for the least evasive and shortest time in the hospital when I first started my journey the beginning of last year. When I went in I found out that they were doing the band anymore and that the sleeve or by pass were my only options, so I put everything on hold because I did not have the time to be down for any amount of time. Jump to Jan of this year, I was diagnosed with PCOS as well as high cholesterol and was told by my dr that I should really consider it because I have 3 small kids and I need to take care of myself to see them on to graduate, marriage, babies ect... So I started my research on everything and found a lot of things are going wrong with the lap band. As hard a choice as it was I decided to start my journey for the sleeve and now I've decided it was the best decision I could have made. Recovery really was not at all as bad as even the hospital made it seem and the pain was nothing that I couldn't control with my pain pump. I am 3 weeks out and I can do just about everything that I could do before. I had surgery on Tuesday morning and came home Thursday afternoon and was out walking around my apt complex Friday morning. I took my pain meds for the first 2 or 3 days home and was able to go off of them except occasionally at night to help with the pain because unfortunately I am a stomach sleeper and found myself rolling onto it in my sleep! Feel free to message me if you have any questions

When we're you cleared for situps?

I was told nothing other than walking until 6 weeks, so I would think you are probably ok

    Is this normal

As long as you pace yourself with your fluids you probably won't feel full because they will go through you quickly, there is nothing there that has to break down. Once you start on your solids you will notice a big difference on what it takes to make you feel full! Congrats!!!
  7. That is really a question you would have to find out based off your insurance company. I never had a 6 month wait period, I just had to have certain appointments in before I could schedule my final appt with my surgeon to schedule my surgery.

    So proud!

    Congrats to both of you!!!

    Regrets?

Regrets I don't have any. Having kids it's hard to explain to them why I'm not eating the same things they are. I'm 3 weeks out from surgery and have lost 21lbs, I have also gone from a 2x shirt to lg shirts already! Getting all of your fluids and protein in right after surgery is difficult but you learn how to manage them into your new day routine. It is a life changing experience for certain! Good luck

    Abnormal ECG?

I didn't have any problems with it, but my husband had surgery on his leg and he had to have an EKG done, the anesthesiologist wanted to see the readout before she would sign off during his pre-admin appt, so I'm not sure if the surgeon would stop it or if it has more to do with that.

You will need to see your primary to get blood tests done to make sure that all of your levels are at a normal level for you to be healthy, plus you will need to be on vitamins. My dr had my levels drawn before surgery so that we have a base line to go off of to see if mine were on the lower side of normal or higher. You may want to see your primary once you have everything set and tell them I really am doing this can you make sure all my levels are normal. The biggest problem my nutritionist had was making sure you are normal now because it is easier to get normal now than to get them normal after your surgery!! Good Luck

    Hey June 25 Sleevers

I was sleeved on 6/25 and I am down 21 pounds since surgery. I didn't have a pre op diet, so that is all since starting weight! I haven't had any complications, I do find it difficult to get all my protein and liquids in though. I came home from the hospital on day 3 and day 4 I was up and walking to the grocery store across the street. I have some sensitivity by my belly button incision but all of the rest of my incisions have healed up. I am supposed to be on a pureed foods diet until week 5, but we don't have a blender so I eat soft foods, mainly fruits bananas, peaches, watermelon, and strawberries and chew them up really good as well as soups.

    Leak test

Good Luck on it! The stuff I had to drink about made me sick. Luckily when I started gagging they said I could stop. Congrats on the next step of your journey
  14. I am 2 weeks out and need to start on vitamins. What are your recommendations on vitamins to take? Since I started the journey of my surgery the only person who has stayed the same is my surgeon and he doesn't deal with vitamins. My nutritionist as well as my primary care doctor have both changed and I don't know either of them so I want to make a good impression and be on vitamins when I go see either of them TIA!!

    Just got the call

    Congrats and Good Luck!!

    Introduce Yourselves!!

Hi, my name is Melissa. I just found this group this morning and am so thankful for it. We have been in the Army for 10 years and are currently stationed at Ft Carson, CO we have been here for 2 years and I just had my sleeve done on the 25th of June so I'm still new to everything. My surgeon was Dr. Robert Wilcox and he is amazing. I had my surgery done on post and have had no issues what so ever with Tricare covering the whole thing. I have high cholesterol as well as PCOS. Nice to meet everyone!
