    5 Day Pouch Test

I've never heard of it for this surgery, so I would talk to your dr to find out exactly what you are supposed to be doing.
  2. It's really not the best thing for you, its just adding more weight on that you have to lose afterwards. You have to put yourself in control of your body before your surgery because once surgery is over you have to have the diet and nutrition plan and exercise all planned out so that you know what you are going to do to improve yourself. You will be able to eat most of your favorite foods if they are still your favorites after surgery. Surgery will surprise you and does more than just help you lose weight, it will change some of your taste buds as well and some things you love now, you won't be able to stand the taste of after surgery. Its a challenge, but you have made the decision to change your lifestyle so it is a chance that you are risking to take. Good luck and I hope you are able to find a way to stop. One idea I can give, is start doing now what you are going to do when you want that food after surgery. You have to have something to fall back on other than food before surgery or you will have a very difficult time coming out of surgery!! Good luck
  3. One of my friends is looking at the surgery but is worried that they don't cover it so she doesn't want to get her hopes up. Anyone have experience with it? TIA

    Family support

Its understandable for them to want to be a support system, but honestly you won't need 4 people to look after you. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and I was back to babysitting 3 kids plus taking care of my own 3 kids the following Monday. This is your new life, yes you will be in a small amount of pain, but you have to be up and active right after surgery in the hospital. They aren't going to send you home to sit and lie around not doing anything for yourself and you are going to have to make all of them understand that you cannot sit or lie around all day while they wait on you. While I love my mom, I am glad that she is 15 hours away when I had my surgery because she could only tell me what to do over the phone and it made it a lot easier to tell her I was following my drs instructions rather than hers and I wasn't going to lay around all day! Good Luck on your surgery!!

    Stomach insicions

There is a good possibility that it is just scar tissue or possibly some fluid build up that will absorb on its own. If it does not go away before your next appt with your dr you could ask him if its possibly a hernia. I would really only be concerned about getting medical treatment right away if there is puss or something similar coming out of it.

    Woo-Hoo I'm proud of myself

That is wonderful that you were able to stop yourself and put it away to eat it at a later time. I'm the same as you in being able to tell I'm losing weight except in my clothes. But it is a wonderful accomplishment and before we know it we will be skinny and asking ourselves when it happened Naturally we can't tell it in ourselves because we see ourselves everyday, but take weekly or bi-weekly pictures and you willl be able to see the difference in your weight!!

    medicaid while married?!?!?!

Would you have to get him involved in it? A lot of times you just need his information and as long as insurance through his job will cover it the clinics take care of everything. You just have to make sure to go to all of your necessary appts.

    I hate eating

You will be perfectly fine, take what you read and use it as a reference. You can never imagine yourself not being hungry until after the surgery. If you stick to what your drs tell you and continue using the board as encouragement and support you will do wonderful!

    Mind puzzler.

I was told when going through nutrition that anything under 800 calories and your body feels you are starving it and it will store everything as fat automatically. You have to watch how many calories you are taking in. Sometimes the more calories you are getting in the more weight you will successfully lose!

    Weight Stall

You just need to look at what you are eating and how much you are exercising and do a little bit more than you are and you should be able to break your stall. Your body is happy at the weight you are at with what you are doing so you need to change your routine a little! You got this!! Go for it

    I am soooo stinking NERVOUS!

You can do it!! Everyone has those last minute jitters right before surgery, I'll admit I had them up until I went to sleep. I started crying as they wheeled me back for surgery, BUT I would not change what I did or how it has changed my life in just the short few weeks its been since surgery. Just remember you are doing this for you!! Good luck
  17. As much as it might hurt continue taking deep breaths and it will end in a couple of days. A lot of the pain has to do with the anesthesia and the gas that they used. The pain will go away, take deep enough breaths that you make yourself cough, it will hurt so hold a pillow over your abdomen but the more you do it the sooner the pain will disappear! That was one thing that was required before I could leave the hospital.
