I'm 8 days post surgery. The first couple of days were the worst. By day 5 I had no pain at all. I am feeling great, being active and have already lost 25 pounds. I know everyone else has said it but it deserves to be stressed: walk, walk, walk after surgery. It will help with any built up gas and help reduce that pain. Good luck on your journey.

I was sleeved on Wed Aug 28th and am kicking myself in the ass for making this decision. I feel like crap and can't tolerate drinking anything either. I'm just hoping it gets better with time.

I saw my surgeon today. They sold me a meal package for the liquid diet. It actually includes chicken noodle soup, cream of broccoli, and oatmeal. Also includes shakes, hot chocolates, raspberry tea, jello, and smoothies. It is making this whole thing a lot easier and I'm not nauseated. Check with your doctors to see if they can offer something like that.

I started mine today and feel really nauseated and have a headache. Hope it gets better as the week goes on.

I started my 2 week liquid diet today. Not really sure how I feel about all this. Was super excited to start but now that it's here it's really hitting me how real and final this all will be. Looking forward to losing weight and being healthier. Just kind of surprised that I'm having mixed emotions all of a sudden. Anyone else go through this?

Thoughts and prayers heading your way. Good luck.

Hi everyone, Wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. My bf had the sleeve a year ago in May and I finally got enough courage up and decided to do it also. We have a 3 year old grandson that we are raising and I want to be around for a long time to see him grow up. Between the obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes I know that probably won't be a reality without the surgery. I had my first surgeon appt on June 12 and am now waiting for insurance authorization for all of my specialist appts. I'm hoping to get the surgery by the end of August because my insurance changes on Sept 1st and the new insurance requires me to see a nutritionist for 6 months before they will authorize the surgery. I am so glad that I found this website and look forward to sharing my journey.

Weight loss before surgery
TerriJ replied to clefofcividale's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
but I fully believe that God will guide me through this as well. If He leads you to it, He'll lead you through it -
I couldn't eat or drink 8 hours before. I also couldn't take any of my meds except my blood pressure meds.

This is the step I was most worried about. It was a breeze. They brought me into the room, the anesthesiologist gave me something "to make this go easier" and next thing I knew I woke up in the recovery room. Just wanted to post this in case anyone else is really nervous about this part.
-
That's exactly how it was for me. I got myself so worked up for nothing. Glad everything went well for you!!!

I was wondering how everyone posts the steps that they need to take and then crosses them off. This appears underneath your posts. I have been all through my profile and cannot figure it out!!!

Thank you!!!

I had a cough and sore throat and they still did mine. I think mine was mostly allergies though. As far as a driver my step daughter dropped me off and they called her when it was time to pick me up. Don't put it off if you can avoid it, that will just give you more time to get worked up about it. Good luck.

As soon as I woke up they let me know that everything looked good!!!

I'm curious about what everyone is looking forward to doing once they lose the weight. Something you couldn't have done if you kept the weight on. For me it is riding roller coasters and scuba diving. Just curious.

Wow, some really moving answers. I wish you all the best of success in your journey and hope all your wishes come true.

I always worry about sitting places. Going to friends houses and breaking their chairs, things like that. It has never happened thank God but still a worry. I imagine something like that will be hard to let go of even after losing the weight.

The endoscopy is the step that I am dreading the most. Thank you for asking the question and everyone else for their feedback. Good luck I hope it goes smooth for you.

Approval waiting period and process for NYS medicaid/amerigroup
TerriJ replied to ShaSha82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance is Medi-Cal which is California's version of Medicaid. I just got all of my authorizations for specialist visits yesterday. They were all approved within a couple of days. Not sure how it works out in NY but can't imagine it is that much different. -
