Beware! woman traveling to TJ
stephanie1678 replied to blindsided's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I agree. I realize this can happen anywhere, including the U.S. But if this is known and repeated behavior, it makes me question the follow through and ethical behavior of the Mexican Medical Board (or whatever it is called there). His license should have been suspended! -
This is so right now surreal

Ok, now that the name is out for all to see, can someone PM me a link to his clinic? I can't find anything about this doctor? -

Ok, that is not helpful either. You missed an opportunity to educate and help someone understand. -
Beware! woman traveling to TJ

I think the issue here is that he was in a position of power. He misused that power by taking advantage of someone when she was vulnerable and unable to make sound decisions. That is criminal. And as such I agree she is a victim. -

I appreciate she was a victim, and as such I empathize with her. She has my support and love whenever she needs it (hard to distinguish a victim from a troll when they come out anonymously and refuse to name the perp). But if I were a victim I would do WHATEVER it took to make sure others knew what to do to protect themselves. If you want to make a statement, then make sure it is one that helps prevent others from having to go through the same. Yes, many women travel alone. Many are vulnerable. Many bring their children. We are all anxious doing this. Let's band together and make sure we are safe and protected. The only way we can do this is by telling thet ruth about the good, the bad and the ugly (no matter where we go). -

I think this deserves an official investigation. For someone to come here, make accusations and claims she is a victim, but then DENY others protection by hiding his identity is wrong and selfish. I am going with my CHILD to have surgery. I would like to think they are safe there while I am recovering. SHAME on YOU for coming here with this story and then PROTECTING the perpetrator. -

Now I am beginning to think you are just a woman scorned. -

That is SO not cool to say. That would imply that a victim is such by choice only. Surprising coming from you..... -

Laura-Ven, we validate the OP by ousting the doctor, THAT'S how you support an accusation that many of you know to be true. What about those of us who still have to go to Mexico for our surgery? How do you feel about the added anxiety that is piled on to us now not knowing if this is the doctor you all are talking about? I need the name. This is not fair to those of us still going... -

Nursegrace, many people have to fly to go to US doctors too. Or drive for hours on end. How is that any different? -

Well, I think ALL of you are contributing to his delinquency by protecting his identity. That is totally not cool in my book. In fact, shame on those of you who will protect this man! -
I love caths. Nothing worse than not being able to go. Have had my share of surgeries, and had one in all of them IIRC. Also had a drain post tummie-tuck that stayed in for weeks. Even went camping with it. Not a big deal at all.

AmyInOrlando, you chose one of the best surgeons you could have chosen. Better than most US doctors IMHO. You will do fine! ♥ -

Nursegrace, flying out of the country is not the problem. There are many excellent surgeons in other countries. In fact, I chose Dr Aceves because I trust him more than any other surgeon here in the U.S. With a budget of $20K I could have chosen anyone, but the technique of some surgeons in the US had me running scared. Do your homework, and don't look for a bargain or assume just because a surgeon is expensive that he is good. For Mexican and American doctors alike, do your research and make sure he is experienced and has a great track record (as close to 0% leak rate as you can get, etc). The more sleeves he has done, the fewer complications are likely to result from the surgery. -
Which airport did you fly into?
stephanie1678 replied to sarii's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr Aceves next month ($8750). Flying into San Diego ($350 R/T which is a rip off, seeing I only live 1100 miles from there. Seems it is cheaper to fly there from FL). I would never drive a full day after surgery. -
