I went to the consult today and was shocked how fast I was in and out of there. I'm scheduled for egd next Wednesday at Victory Medical. He did tell me that if I wanted insurance to cover part of the cost if I have a hiatal hernia then surgery would have to be at Victory. Not a big deal seeing that it would save me $8k!! Funny story...my appt was at 11:45 and my husband met me there. We went for lunch after the appt and who do we see at the restaurant...Dr. Nick. The only table open was right next to him. It was slightly awkward...it wasn't the healthiest of restaurants and it was 15 minutes after talking to him about taking most of my stomach out. We had some chit chat but luckily he left before our food came out. Lol

    Lack of Support

This is the main reason I'm dreading telling my inlaws. You are so not alone. I keep reminding myself that this is about me and my health. I plan on telling them that I don't want criticism or for them to try to talk me out of it..I just need their support.
  3. The girl that dog sits for us came over today to drop of my house key and so I could pay her for watching my dogs this past weekend. As we were chatting she says, "Oh I didn't know you were expecting another little one!" UGG I'm not sure who was more humiliated her or me. I sat there and reassured her that it was no big deal. But then as soon as I walked her out, the tears just started pouring. Can't wait to have my appointment on Wednesday and hopefully set my surgery date!!!!!

NewMommy, what did you find out? Everything ok?
  5. I have seen a few people mention that as soon as one of their stitches popped inside then they felt a lot better. What is this stitch?

What did y'all think about Victory Medical Center?
  7. And to add insult to injury, she continued to say she saw another lady that told her she was 4 months pregnant. But she couldn't even tell because she was so fit. Lol ummmm so not the right thing to say at that moment.
  8. Thank you for sharing. As a pre-op it's so encouraging to hear other's story.

I didn't think about doing a tour. Do you have to schedule that or can you just show up there?

I just found this YouTube video that was posted today about Victory Medical. It looks nice but Forest Park looks so much nicer. I had a friend that had breast reconstruction at frisco forest park and it was the nicest hospital I've ever seen. http://youtu.be/w6XGbTc08Kw

I'll be sure to ask on Wednesday. Your experience with Victory kinda scares me. When is your dads surgery?

Oh really? I was really hoping to have it at Forest Park but I'm also really hoping to have a hiatal hernia to help cover cost.

I can believe that. I'm not a fan of being in the hospital over a weekend too since they are on more of a skeleton crew so to speak. The worst nurses I've had have been on weekends and the best have been during the week. Does anyone know what days of the week he schedules his surgeries on and which facilities on those days? Obviously, Tuesdays... Which hospital are you at 2x4nomore?

I have no doubt about that!!! There's a reason he's always voted one of the top doctors in Dallas!

That's crazy!!! It's like a factory. Lol I wonder what time his first and last surgeries are of the day. Do they put most people on the same floor post op? Make friends walking the halls.

You will do great!!! I'm always a nervous wreck before any type of procedure/surgery. I had an uterine ablation last year and my ob/gyn gave me valium the morning before I went in and it was a godsend!! I'm going to start asking for that before every surgery. Lol

I read on another thread that he schedules 13 surgeries a day. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? That seems like an awful lot.

    WooHoo!! Good Luck!!
  19. I'm going to be self pay and plan on financing with care credit. My husband gave me a reality check tonight and said, "You know if we don't qualify for credit there is no way this can happen." Has anyone had problems getting approved for what they asked for? We have decent credit, a little bit of cc debt, mortgage and one car loan that is about to be paid off. I don't have income though...is it based on household income? TIA for sharing any experiences you have with care credit!

    Care Credit

I applied for carecredit today and was instantly approved for $4,900. Hopefully I can get them to increase the credit limit and I will be good!

I have my one on one consult on Wednesday! Yay! So excited to have that scheduled! I'm going to aim for surgery sometime in August.

    Care Credit

They offer 0% interest over a certain time period. We've never been denied any credit and have been able to get super low interest rates on cars and etc. we bought our house right before the market crashed so unfortunately because of our specific loan we have we haven't built up enough equity to take out a loan against it. The thought of not qualifying hadn't even crossed my mind until tonight. Lol

That's too bad about Natalia but from what I've heard she's the exception. I can take one bad apple. Eliie, what part of Dallas are you in? Do any of y'all go to any of the support groups?

I've been curious how this compares to c-sections. I've had 3 and 2 of them were pretty easy but one of them was super painful. I remember having to hold onto the railing in the hallway when I was walking the halls and stopping a lot because of pain.
