Liquid phase diarrhea...

I just completed my first week post op and I had those same exact feelings about four days out. They didn't last long. By the next day I was fine, but I totally understand where you're coming from. I was resentful to the fact that I no longer have control over what I eat, but I take solace in realizing that me having totally control is what led me to need surgery in the first place. So, I've been trying to view the surgery and the restriction provided by it as a blessing.

Not as easy as first few months , a couple questions

Being scared and feeling like you're makin "wrong" choices is natural when you're struggling to live a healthy lifestyle, whether you've had surgery or not. Don't beat yourself up for having something that isn't "healthy". Take a small portion, savor the taste and move on. The more you restrict yourself and think that you're failing if you eat a certain thing the more control food will have over you and your life. You have to understand that you're in control. I'm only one week out and I found myself having the same struggle. I feel like I'm developing a love/hate relationship with food. Before surgery I ate whatever I wanted and how much I wanted and now I can't eat anything. I loved food before and I starting to loathe it. Somewhere we have to find that happy medium and a place where we are using food for fuel and not for pleasure. You've got all of us behind you!! You can do this!! -
Hi Dimples. I can't believe they only had you on Clear Liquids for two days. It sounds like they advanced your stages too quickly. If the puréed foods bother you you might want to scale back to clear or full liquids for another week or so to give yourself more time to heal.

Hi! The sodium content in a pack or ramen noodles is ridiculous!! Almost 1000mg per serving. I understand your cravings but please be mindful of everything you've gone through this far. Get that protein in!! If you're looking for the flavor, add some kosher chicken broth to mashed potatoes or brown rice(if you're able to eat those things) or boil some chicken in the chicken broth that might help.

Hi Nique!! We are both three days post op!! I had gas in my chest and my back. Like the other ladies said, walking and moving around helps. I also found that drinking hot green tea helped me too.

Hi!! I haven't lost a nail but I have noticed that my nails are a little brittle and dry since I had my sleeve gastrectomy.

12 days out and can't regain my stamina or strength

Hi nursehr80!! I'm 3 days post op. starting weight 301, today's weight 290. I noticed that I was extremely fatigued the first two days I came home. All I did was sleep. Idk if it was from the pain meds or what but I couldn't do anything. Just like you, walking around my home, showering and just sitting up right were challenging for me. I couldn't take in much fluids because the gas was so bad, but I have noticed that as the gas subsided I'm able to tolerate more fluids. I was drinking too fast at first and giving myself awful pains. It truly is tricky to learn how to gauge my fluid intake and what I can tolerate and what I can't tolerate. This journey is truly much different from what I was told. No amount of preparation prepared me for this actual experience.
