Before surgery...277 pounds -
Hi, I am from Grosse Ile. I had my surgery 6/25 and am down 40 lbs total. I also had mine done at HFH-Detroit but by Dr. Genaw, who is partners with Dr. Carlin. I had a good experience and am doing well so far. Congrats to you!

I think if you are losing weight and happy with what you are doing, then do it! Don't let the PA get you down,. Keep going strong!

Stall Question or Not Working Question
goutt replied to Winsong's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am in the same place you are. I was sleeved the 25th of June. I had a stall for 3 weeks. It can be so frustrating. I keep reading about some people who are just slow losers. It is disheartening to realize I am one of them when the NUT said to expect about 5 pounds a week. However, I keep reading about people who are successful over a longer period of time. I am following the rules and doing everything I am supposed to be doing. We just need to hang in there and count the non scale victories. I am off some meds I was on before and I am at the weight I was when I met my husband 14 years ago. Hang in there all! We can DO it too! -
Has anyone gone out for sushi? What did you order. More importantly. ..how did you eat it?

I had the same psins. Lasted about a week. Doctor told me I was trying to do too much too soon.

June 25th Sleevers? I need a buddy...
goutt replied to pinkeeez83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved June 25th. I am down a total of 33 pounds. Only 19 since surgery. I have been following all the rules but had s period of over three weeks when the scale didn't move at all. So dang frustrating. This week it seems to finally be moving again. Good luck to all! -
I had surgery June 25. I started my journey at 277. I was 263 after my preop. I was 248.5 this morning. However I have been bouncing around 251 and 248 for over a week. Sounds like this is "normal". Hope to start losing steadily again!

The lump in your throat could be reflux. Does your doc have you on omneprazole?

The BIG Book on the Gastric Sleeve!
goutt replied to Alex Brecher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great book! I got it a week prior to my surgery and poured over it all week. Now, post surgery, I am continually looking back at it for information and advice. Thank you! -
Okay, thanks all you smartie pants! I use chopsticks too! I was more asking if you take small bites off of the piece or if you still put the whole thing in your mouth and just chew and chew and chew and chew!

Just curiosity here...has anyone experienced a sharp pain on the side where the stomach was removed? I was sleeved June 25 and have been doing well so far. No big issues. I was walking 2 miles a day and then started biking up to 5 miles. Then about 5 days ago I started having a sharp pain when I move certain ways and stand up straight. It doesn't bother me at all laying or sitting or when excercising. I called the dr and he said over the phone it sounded muscular. Maybe doing too much too soon or do any of you think i should be worried?

There is a recipe on sparkpeople.com for protein crepes made with egg whites and protein powder. It makes 3 crepes. I used vanilla muscle milk powder and it was like a really thin pancake. I put a little SF syrup on there. Pretty good. I could only eat 1 but the others reheated well!

Teachers Supporting Sleeved Teachers
goutt replied to ambervsg2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a 4 th grade teacher from MI. I was sleeved June 25 th. I am down 29 pounds but have hit a stall. Other than that I am doing well in almost all aspects. Still trying to add more water everyday. I am up to 30 oz. I have a question for the experienced sleevers...did anyone suffer from pain in the side they pulled the stomach out for a long period of time? I am not taking pain meds and I was feeling pretty good but the last 4 days I have had a terrible pain in my right side when I stand up tall or move certain ways. If I am laying or sitting it is fine. It is fine on my 5 mile bike rides. Any thoughts? -
June sleevers, what are you eating?
goutt replied to getlownurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved June 25th. I am on pureed foods. Went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant ...first time out to eat since surgery. Had refried beans and guacamole. It tasted good but I didn't eat much...was really worried about portion size. I am allowed crispy crackers on the phase too so I ate 3 tortilla chip. -

Is the premier protein lactose free? -
I was on dulcolax everyday before surgery. The week of my all liquid preop diet stopped that as i was having the opposite problem. I am only 1 week post op now but am still experiencing more of the opposite of constipation. Good luck!

Hi all. I have to take omneprezole (sp?) 1 time a day. Actigall 2 x a day plus 3 other pills for skin allergy/rash. All need to be crushed as I am less than a week post. What is the best vessel for getting down all the nasty meds? Any suggestions? Also...how long until I don't have to crush them anymore. BTW., I have been using jello mixed with a little cool whip per my NUT but it is still terrible!!!

Thanks for the applesauce ideas. Going down much easier!

Have you tried SF pudding made with a scoop of protein powder thrown in. If you use soy milk or almond milk the pudding doesn't set all the way and makes it easy to go down. -
Wow! Fantastic!
