    What if I die?

I felt that way too. I've felt that way any time I go in for surgery. What helps me to move past it is to write letters to my loved ones, especially each of my kids. I know it's morbid, but at least I'm not leaving things unsaid and they'll know I loved them. The truth is any of us can die any day. We could be hit by a car or have a freak fall. That doesn't keep us from living our lives. Most of us do this to improve our quality of life.
  4. I'm feeling ok, but struggling to get my fluids and protein in. I'm going to try and be better about that today. I slept better last night because my cottonmouth was better. I had taken off the antinausea patch yesterday and I think that helped.
  5. I was at Victory Hospital in Houston. I was feeling good and am not worried about being at home. I'm just glad to be off of the IV fluids. My IV's don't last long and they needed to start a new line in the middle of the night. I've had 1 c-section and 2 unmedicated child births (one to a 9 lb. 1 oz baby), so I kind of feel like this wasn't so bad. I start of full liquids tomorrow and will see how I do with that.

    Insurance for complications

I just had mine yesterday. Once I realized I'd be self pay, I found a doctor through the BLIS (insurance) website. I didn't want the added stress of worrying about a complication.
  7. I need to be at the hospital at 6 and am scheduled for 7:30. I'm a bit nervous, but I think lots of my nerves were about the 14 day liquid preop diet and now that that is almost over, I know that I can exercise restraint and willpower and will hopefully be in good stead for the lifestyle changes that come with this surgery. At this point, I just want to be on the other side of this. Of course, I also expect this to kind of be like the last week of pregnancy when you're sick of being pregnant already, just want to have the baby, but don't realize until afterwards how much easier it was to take care of the baby in than out.
  8. Thanks for the responses. I spoke with the psychologist during the psych consult and she basically said what I knew which is that I am doing this for my health and to be with my family for a long time. I do see a counselor and I'll be bringing it up with her. I will be going ahead with the surgery - I'm scheduled for July 1st. I just hope that I can stop feeling guilty about it.
  9. I had my pre-op appointment at the hospital today. It went smoothly other than having 2 kids in tow and the 3 year old spilling her water on the chair in the exam room. Luckily, the nurse has a 16 year old and a 7 month old, so she understood. There is one new thing I'm nervous about. They gave me a special soap to wash with 3 times prior to the surgery to make sure my skin is as clean as possible. However, I have three boils where my waistband and bra are that become inflamed with the heat. The nurse told me to call the doctor to make sure they wouldn't be an issue. I spoke to the nurse at the doctor's office and he said to call back tomorrow to tell him how they are. 2 have drained and will be healed by Monday, but I have one that may not have fully healed by then. Fingers crossed that it won't be an issue that causes a delay - I've been on the liquid diet since the Monday after Father's day and my niece is flying in on Friday to take care of my 3 year old (the older two will be at overnight camp all next week, which is why I scheduled it for the 1st).
  10. I'm getting super excited and nervous. I'm used to my preop diet and have a routine going with it. I've been stocking up on supplies for the hospital and for post op. I cleaned out the freezer to see what foods I have that I can purée for that stage.

    My Texas Sleevers

Missouri City. Being sleeved July 1.
  12. Hi All. I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue in the US. I'm a self pay and the hospital my doctor performs surgery at is not in-network with my insurance. My insurance excludes weight loss surgery, but they are subsidizing it in part because I will also be having a hernia repair. My concern is that, while my fee to the doctor and the hospital has gone down for the weight loss surgery, I'm going to be hit with a fee for having the hernia repair at a hospital that is out of network. Both the doctor's office and the hospital have assured me this is not the case, but I'm still worried. I don't know if this is the proper forum for this because I'm a newbie. Would I be better posting in the insurance section?
  13. Thanks for the response. I called the doctor's office again today and they said I would not be getting any additional bills from the hospital.

I had originally posted this in the self pay section but was informed that folder is for Mexico self pay.
  15. Thanks. I wasn't sure if this was just self pay in Mexico or self pay in general .
  16. Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum, but I'm also scheduled for July 1. I've been on my liquid diet since Monday and am doing ok. I've been using isopure protein shake mixes, and mixing them with unsweetened almond milk. I find it covers up the aftertaste. I spoke with my nutritionist and was able to add some ground flax seed to the shakes to bring up the calories and protein. They said to have 3-5 a day, plus broth, sf jello and sf ice pops. I found that by the end of the 3rd shake, I didn't feel like I could down another one. As for the Torani syrups, I found them in the coffee aisle at my walmart and my grocery store. I have a couple of those to add flavor. The regular low sodium broth had zero flavor and tasted like dirty chicken water, so I made my own chicken soup, with out much sodium, and strained that and it's much better. I hadn't even thought of stocking up on the stuff for the full liquids phase. I guess I should because July 1 is getting pretty close!
