I'm looking forward to soft foods in two weeks. I'm on day 1 of puréed and it hasn't been so bad (yet!). Breakfast was puréed cottage cheese, lunch was left over egg drop Soup, snack was a puréed blue cheese, yogurt and cottage cheese dip, and dinner was strained cold Greek yogurt soup (think thinner version of tzatziki). Not sure yet what I'm having tomorrow, but I'm glad that I've gotten in 55 grams of Protein so far today, and supplemented with only 1/3 a bottle of Isopure coconut. Some of the things I plan on incorporating into my puréed diet are refried Beans, tuna salad, crab salad, salmon mousse, chicken and stew.

My NUT included quinoa in the soft foods phase. For me, that's 6 weeks post op.

Non Scale Victories ... Please Share Your Ideas & Victories
Bredred replied to rickyswife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's not a goal, but it was certainly a NSV. I'm 14 days post op. I'm supposed to start purées tomorrow. Today's my daughter's 10th birthday. She chose to go to PF Chang's. All I ate was the egg drop soup. She has celiac disease, so any cake needs to be gluten free and generally, therefore, homemade. She chose my and her favorite cake - devil's good cake with fresh whipped cream, strawberries, and bananas. I didn't even taste the whipped cream! -
Diabetics who got sleeved....
Bredred replied to ccaramel27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved July 1st. My endocrinologist had me stop my metformin one week in to my 2 week preop liquid diet. I see him in a couple of weeks and will find out the plan then. For now, I'm testing at least twice a day and my numbers are anywhere from 85-97. -

I'm doing well. I'm still struggling to get in enough fluids and protein. The most protein I've been able to have is 51 grams. I need to shoot for 60-80. I've only managed about 50 oz of fluids. I start purées on Monday and I can't wait. I'm a bit nervous because tomorrow is my daughters birthday and she wants to go to PF Chang's. I guess I'll be sipping on egg drop soup. -
Like others, I'm looking forward to not shopping in the plus size department and to be able to go into stores I couldn't have considered. I'm looking forward to being a good example for my kids in terms of leading a healthy, active lifestyle. I'm looking forward to weighing less than my husband for the first time ever. I want us to go to Hawaii for our 15th anniversary in a year and a half being able to do whatever we want to do.

I had a strong sedative and felt very well rested when I woke up. I commented that I could understand how Michael Jackson got addicted to the stuff.

Arsenic is natural. That doesn't mean it's good for you.

Any other July 1st sleevers home?

I'm using the unflavored unjury and mixing it with my own broth. I found a full scoop changes the flavor, so I'm using a half scoop. -

I was supposed to have single incision, but had a fatty liver, so he needed to use 3 incisions but it was still laparoscopic. He did a biopsy and sent it out for tests. I was really good on my 2 week preop diet too. The only time I strayed from shakes or clears was a week before, when I had egg drop soup.

Driving after surgery
Bredred replied to 2013sleevegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drove today for the first time. I'm one week out. I'm feeling pretty good. I had only been using pain meds at night and haven't used any since Thursday night. -
sorry - double post

I paid $9500 at TLC in Houston. They discovered a hernia beforehand. Insurance covered a portion. Otherwise it would have been about $13800. The price includes BLIS insurance in case of complications. The cash pay for the original surgeon I was going to use was around 20k because he did it at a large, expensive, teaching hospital. That cost didn't include complication insurance.

Thanks. I asked when I was discharged and they said to open it for now but I forgot to ask for how long. -

I tried making high protein white chocolate pudding using jello SF pudding mix, mootopia skim milk and 2 scoops of unjury unflavored protein. Yuck! Blech! Gross! So now I'm having my yoplait light vanilla Greek yogurt.

I was only going to use 1 scoop, but the unjury website called for 2. The texture was ok - it was the aftertaste that got to me.
