I was told the same thing. Carbonation can stretch the sleeve! I was sleeved July 29, 2013 and haven't had a diet coke since! I honestly don't miss it at all and I drank tons of it on a daily basis before. Even though it's diet, I really think it makes you crave sweet things. I really don't crave sweets since the surgery. I'm sure part of it is from the sleeve, but I really think cutting out the diet coke has helped the cravings too.

Do you like Greek yogurt? That is a staple for me. I use it for at least one of my meals daily and it has lots of protein. I find eggs extremely filling. I couldn't eat them the first 6 months.

My sleeve was very tight from the beginning. I was struggling to get in 400-600 calories a day! Working with my nutritionist, we decided 5-6 smaller meals a day would be best for me. I also have hypoglycemia, so the more frequent meals help that too. I am now 8 months out and can eat a round 1100 calories a day getting in anywhere from 80-100 grams of protein. Everybody is different. My husband had gastric bypass 2 months after me and can eat twice as much at a meal than I can! I consider it a blessing. I don't ever want to be able to eat like I could before. Keeps me in check!!

Totally teared up from that story. First, congrats and enjoy that feeling! Second, it made me remember a conversation with my brother about 20 years ago. He was always tall and thin and I was always fat. I don't remember what we were doing, but he had no shirt on. At the beach or something probably. His ribs were showing and I said, man you can see your ribs. He turned around and said something about my being fat. I was like, that was rude and he said so were you. I was like WHAT!!??! That's a compliment. He explained that to him it wasn't and that he was self conscious about being too skinny the same way I was about being fat. That blew me away. How could anyone feel that way. I apologized to him and explained how I would never in a million years think he felt that way. It really opened my eyes to see it from the other end.

I am terrified every day of going back to what I was. They way I thought about food and myself. Every day it haunts me! I try to use the fear to remind myself of where I came from and that I am never going to let myself go back there again! The brain is a very difficult thing to retrain. I think I'll be working on that part for the rest of my life! Keep up the awesome work and know that you are not alone in that fear. -
Awesome story! Congratulations! You deserve it. You look like a completely different person now!! Way to work that sleeve girl!

It could be low blood sugar too. I would drink 1/2 cup of apple or orange juice and it cleared right up. -

Thank you! I follow the diet plan and exercise 5 days a week. My relationship with food is totally different now. It was like a drug to me before and now it's just food! I was there! I was sitting next to Tony on the right. I love the meetings. I try to go every month. Let me know if you want to meet up or we can talk at the next meeting. -

Thank you so much! I was losing weight pretty fast in the beginning, so the results were fast. I've had some stalls, but just kept plugging along and they broke. I follow my doctors plan religiously and I exercise 5 days a week. I don't eat bread or pasta. I do eat some carbs because I have hypoglycemia, but try to keep them complex or fruit. It has been an interesting journey and I'm so happy I decided to do this! -

Hi! I had my sleeve at LCOM on July 29, 2013! You are in the best of hands!! My husband also had gastric bypass in September 2013. Have you been to the support group meetings? I usually attend every month. I live in tinley park. If you have any questions or want info, I would be happy to help you out! -

I would def get that checked ASAP! I had a leak 2 weeks after the surgery and the pain was horrible! You should have a cat scan to be sure everything's ok. -

I love the idea too! I would also love to be involved as a leader or co-leader. I love to help people and the past month or so I've been itching for something new to do or get involved in. When I saw this post I said "bingo, that's what I'm talking about"!! Count me in! -
Sounds like you're both doing everything right! Sometimes it's just a stall (gggrrr) and we have to wait it out!

No, I guess not. I was only eating around 600 and increased to 1000 now and that jump started my loss. Maybe try mixing up your exercise a little or increase the time and intensity. I try to do something different each day at the gym. Treadmill, elliptical, bike, aqua aerobics.......I try to go 5 days a week too. Doesn't always happen, but I try. are you drinking enough? I have been off protein shakes for a few months (couldn't look at them anymore)!!! I just started adding one in daily to increase my protein intake. My blood work showed low iron.

I know it may sound crazy, but try increasing your calories a little. It worked for me. I'm almost 7 months out.

Pouch problems any one?
m&m4ever replied to MelindaBaltimore29's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you feel like something is wrong, don't stop telling the doctors. We know our bodies best. My friend had the same issues and they told her the only thing left to do was exploratory surgery. She so to do it and they found a twisted colon! This sounds like your only option at this point. Again, you are in my prayers and I wish you the best. Keep us posted! -
Hi! First off, congrats for all you have accomplished to date! That's a great amount of weight you have lost! Are you doing anything different? Do you track your food? Are you exercising? Drinking at least 8 cups of water? I use my fitness pal to track all of these things and it really helps me to stay honest with myself on how I'm doing. My id is presmariazoe if you want to add me on my fitness pal.

You are NOT crazy! I haven't had this experience, but at our support group I've heard many, many people say that their relationships with their best friends, family members, co-workers went south. You have to realize that it's not about you. Maybe they're jealous, insecure about themselves or maybe they think we took the easy way out (easy way my a$$)!! The only thing you can do is talk to her and try to work it out if the relationship is important to you. At least then you'll know you did all you could to save the friendship. Good luck to you. Keep us posted. Be proud of yourself for making this change to better your life and health!
