Newbie on the path to a new beginning!
ladybug's journey posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! First of all I must say I am SO glad I found this forum as I was seriously thinking of doing the lapband but the more I've read and compared, the sleeve is definitely the right choice for me. I have completed the items required by my surgeon and insurance (blood work, sleep study and psych eval) and everything was submitted this afternoon for approval. I'm excited and nervous all at once but looking forward to the challenges and changes awaiting me -

So I did all my prereq appointments, started attending a support group and had everything ready and submitted only to find out I have to work with a third party wellness program for 6 months before I can be approved. I know this is normal for many people but I wasn't expecting this as I was told it was not required by my insurance; apparently this is required by my employer. I will know more once I talk with the dietitian and nurse. It's just weird as it is all done via phone. Has anyone had these health coaches over the phone? Can someone push the fast forward button? I really want to get to surgery!

I just found out my company utilizes a 3rd party company for us to work with to obtain insurance authorization. Apparently I have to work with their "coaches" as part of my approval process. Would have been nice to know before but no they're talking upwards of 6 months to approve....not what I was originally told. Frustrating but I must remember everything happens for a reason....even if it stinks for awhile :-(

Insurance delay?!?
ladybug's journey replied to ladybug's journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it has more to do with my employer's requirements than bcbs as I was told by my surgeon's office that bcbs is usually pretty quick...good luck to you! -

It seems silly to me some of the different hoops we have to jump through! We just want to be healthy and better our lives...it's cheaper to have the surgery than all the health issues, medications, surgeries, etc that come from us staying this way. Good luck to you! -

ladybug's journey replied to sureaboutme2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too am pre-op and struggling with not telling people. I don't feel it is anyone's business but there are a few people close to me that I may share it with them later but not now. My DH and my best friend know and that's it for now. Good luck to you on whichever way you choose to handle it! -
