    Its A Done Deal

Good for you! It is not a bad surgery at all and the weight does come off. I didn't do the pig out fest I went for consultation on a Monday and had surgery on the following Saturday, my last meal was 1/2 a subway sub and I got sick the night before(had the flu)and threw it up. So best of luck with your new journey. CONGRADULATIONS!!!!

This is a wonderful thread I have enjoyed reading all the posts. I am 54 and can relate to some of the thing you talk about but the best thing is you have all kept your sense of humour, don't ever lose that, goodness that is all that is left!!!!!! Enjoy life to the fullest cause when it is over there is not looking back and saying "I should have........
  3. I was banded on June 2/07. So far I have no regrets. I am down 26lbs and hope to keep going down when I get my next fill. I also was a self pay (15,000), my hubby paid for it, when I questioned spending that amount was like buying a new car, he told me not to put price tag on my health. I am starting to feel better about myself and am starting to get my confidence back again. I have about 120-130 lbs to lose but I know I can do it now. I will not say that it has not been hard work because it has being. But I would with out any hesitation tell others interested to do it, but not to expect a quick fix, it is only a tool to help you, and the tool does work! GOOD LUCK...with your journey to a new life.

How do you deal with stupidity?

SOOO sorry this happened to you, but hold your head up high and tell him to kiss your a**!!!!!!! My sister in-law was in the mall one day and a man came up to her and had the nerve to say "you know for a fat chick you got nice legs" her response was "you know for an a**hole you don't smell to bad " I still laugh every time I tell this story. Some people just don't think...keep your chin up TexasRose better day ahead..... don't let this keep you away from going dancing.
  5. Today is not a good day! I am very depressed and teary eyed as I type. My journey began June 2/07 when I was banded. I have been doing very well with weight loss until this week. I had lost 23lbs and was very proud of my accomplishment and hard work.....today things are starting to look grim to me as they have in the past. This week I have gained 5lbs and I am devistated, I know it is only 5lbs but to me this looks like the same cycle as before I was banded, lose and gain (story of my life). I am a self pay 15,000, and a lot of sacrifices have been made for me to get banded, so this is why I am fearful of history repeating itself..failure again. I thought I was doing good until I went to the nutrisionist and was told I was not eating enough protein, so I bumped up the protein intake but did not go over what I was suppose to eat, and kept my calories at around 1000 per day, I was suppose to eat 1500 cal per day according to the nutrisionist. I don't know what else to do. I went to get a fill last week but put it off for a month because of what the nutrisionst told me I neeed to eat more and I was losing so I was fine with that.. Now I have tried to contact my Dr. to get a fill now or next week but can not reach him. I am not real happy with my Dr. but that is a whole new story. I have a very supportive husband but don't want to let him know how I am feeling today. The clinic I went to does not offer any support groups so right now I am feeling lost and disappointed. I am hoping this is just a bad week and that things will get better because I liked the feeling I had last week when I was losing, this week I feel like this is another thing that is not going to work. Just wondering if anyone else is feeling the same way? ________________________________________________ Banded June 2 2007 Sarnia ON Canada Highest weight last year 328 weight day baned 315.8 weight July 13/07 292.4:clap2: weight July 25/07 297.4

    Canada or US

I was banded in Sarnia, that may be an option for you. But I would stay close to home because going for fills or just followups right after is a bit of a pain. I live 3 hours away from Sarnia, so you are talking 6 hours on the road alone. I would suggest looking into staying close to were you live. If you are close to Sarnia, I was banded at the Bluewater Surgical Centre in Point Edwards ON, you can check them out on the net. I was a self pay and my doctor referred me to this clinic. Hope this helps you. Good Luck!

    newbie from Toronto

Welcome Lisa and Joaniliz. Lisa I am also from Canada but I was banded in Sarnia ON on June 2. I found the best thing for keeping the bowels moving in the early stages was juicing fresh fruit, apples seemed to work the best for me. For the gas...just keep moving and it will release. Welcome to the new world of bandsters, and thank God for our new tool to help us through our weight loss journey. Good luck to you both!

Foood...*sad face* tips for full fluid

Hi Consafo, I'm on fluids and I have added some fat free pudding, and apple sauce, I take about 1/2 c at a time. I also told the doc i was adding these, all he asked was did I keep it down. I found the clear fluids were not cutting it for me either. I was banded on June 2 so I am a little ahead of you, but I did add these the about 7 days after surgery. Good luck!!!

    Hello

Welcome Lainy, I'm and new bandster form Canada. Just banded on June 2/07 down 12lbs. The worst part is waiting to be banded , or at least it was for me. But I only had a couple days of being uncomfortable, and after that it seems to be free sailing. The clear fluid is not good but I' am now on fluids for one more week then onto puree's (can't wait). Congradulations you on your decision and wish you all the best. GOOD LUCK!

    Bulemic state of mind?

What is wrong with you people, you gave up one addiction for another, do you not understand what you are doing is wrong and dangerous. Please stop and go talk to someone about this, I'm worried for all of you that are doing it. I'm newly banded and please tell me that this is not common, because if it is I would rather be FAT!

    question about tt

I was banded in Sarnia ON and paid out of pocket, 15,000. Newly banded June 2/07 and down 10lbs.
  16. Hi everyone, this is my first post so bare with me. I am newly banded June 2nd/07:clap2: so far all is well and I am down 10lbs. I didn't have time to get nervous or pine over my decision I went for a consultation on Monday May 28th and was banded on June 2, I didn't do any pre op dieting, but I did get the flu the day before surgery and thought I was going to have cancel but I was much better by the morning. I paid for this on my own $15,000., has anyone had it covered by their insurance? I have submitted all the paper work and doctors recommendations to my insurance company but have not heard back as of today. I was just curious if anyone has gotten it cover by their insuance. I was banded in Sarnia, Dr Elgamal and Dr Delegarza (from Mexico). Has any one else been banded in Sarnia? Not sure what to expect as far as the future goes, but hoping for a smaller me. I am still on the liquids right now (I did try a small piece of meat once and I paid for it, I think it got stuck, but being a food addict I just had to see if the band was going to work,) but I won't do that again. I have alot of family support but just would like to get other outlooks on how their band is working. I am glad there is a site like this to read about other people trials and tribulations.
