  1. For the past couple of years as weight has piled on I have not been able to wear most shoes. Most shoes cut into my foot and cause me much pain. I have resulted to wearing soft leather loafers. In fact, I finally found a pair of Michael Kors loafers that I could wear comfortable and bought every color. So, they have been my shoe collection this fall and winter.

Christmas of 2011, my mother bought me a beautiful pair of black leather ankle boots. I could never fit them. They just sat in my closet on the shelf. I threw away most of my other shoes thinking I would never wear "regular" shoes again. Anyway, I tried on the ankle boots this morning and WHAM they fit! My foot fit right in!! In less than 2 weeks, this very significant part of my life has changed! So off I go! Shoe shopping!!!

I can almost hear your bank account crying from here in Canada. Haha just kidding, congratulations!! I'm holding off on all purchases until I absolutely need to (which shouldn't be a for awhile, I have had so many dieting struggles that I have goal clothes from years and years back so I should be ok for awhile).

Make sure to take a picture of whatever NSV presents you pick up :P

  2. I eat fruit everyday. Sugarfree applesauce, peaches in their own juices, or pears. It helps me stay sane. My Wellness doc said it's ok. Everything in moderation. 2 1/2 c. Servings won't kill you, but getting your Protein in is key. I know I'm a sugar addict and have to be very aware of what will trigger me to crave sweets. Peaches and applesauce are ok. I've done pineapple too, but not very often. Our goal should be to chew the hell out if everything lol so it doesn't hurt our tummies. When I don't and I eat unconsciously....I pay the price. Best wishes!

I'm not a sugar addict luckily (at least not food wise, beverages are a weak point) so sweet fruit doesn't make me want Cookies and cake. Actually I've found almost everything except fruit is too sweet these days and I Water (or milk) everything down. It's more breads and potatoes that can be my Achilles heel. It's a good thing that I've also been a protein kind of girl! Love meat haha

  3. I think the article posted recently about the nutrition myths has it right: not all carbs are bad. If any food should be considered " bad" it would be refined, processed foods... Which one could argue isn't really food...think twinkies here.

That said, we can overheat any food, so I am kind of traditional in the sense that I think "moderation". Of course this hasn't been my fortee, thus this need for VSG. Seems reasonable to stick with protien first, Water and then Vegs and fruits.....

I think anyone that considers twinkies food might have a screw or two loose :P

I eat mostly raw Proteins, beef and fish. I find raw sits a lot easier on my sleeve where cooked Proteins (especially chicken) makes the discomfort come on fiercely and after only a bite.

  4. Which is not good cause its adding more carbs to my day than Protein... But pineapple is making my body sing with enjoyment (ate 5 small cubes of it over a four hour period yesterday) :(

I thought I was doing good on Protein but carbs (mostly from fruit) are still number one, apparently I am in the market for additional tweaking.

Is fruit the devil now? Should I be labeling it as just sugar and Water and not consuming it?

  5. So true, I've definitely noticed a drop in concentration and brain power, mostly in conversations. I'll be talking and suddenly won't remember what I'm talking about. This is especially true if I'm trying to multi task. Something I could do with ease before takes lots of effort. I assumed it was due to at least dehydration, possibly also lack of nutrition.

I'm 7 weeks out and 25 so maybe age is irrelevant in this instance haha

  6. The lapband can be filled with a needle in a port to help constrict the upper part of your stomach to help restrict your food content. The fills really don't hurt. it's maintenance that has to be done when you have lapband. There is a time when fills aren't as necessary, but I haven't gotten to that point yet.

It's just another type of wls. It's all in what's best for you - but as long as you are successful and lose weight, it doesn't really matter which one you have to go for :) good luck ;)

I tried adding you, it said you don't exist! Try adding me?

  7. You all can add me - I'm jamilyne102668. I use it religiously all day every day. It's also helped me from making bad choices!

I've been banded since 9/13/13. I started out at 242-244 and now I'm 203. I still have a ways to go, but I'm making progress. I've been slow with my weight loss for the past month, but it's still coming off. I've only had 1 fill and I was holding back until I absolutely needed it & I think I do now. I will get one at 1st of the year.

I'm sleeved, so sorry but I have no idea what your "fills" refer to, sounds awful though!

Recording today definitely showed me my brain is screwed up. I thought I was crazy over eating but in fact, MFP doesn't even have units low enough on some items for me to record the accurate amount I consumed.

  8. I'm sure this thread has been started before, but I can't find it anywhere!! Stupid mobile app.

I have been REALLY not logging my days and my mind is starting to screw with me, I feel like I'm overrating and I'm going to stretch my sleeve immediately. I only eat to satiated (only have overdone it a couple painful times haha). Because I feel full, my brain immediately assumes I binged like I used to, where as I find I'm more of a small grazer, I'll eat a portion of Protein but it'll take me all day to do it :P so I figure instead of playing the guessing game, I'll go back to myfitnesspal. Used it before surgery as a weight loss tool and found it very helpful, now I just need to be accountable logging every time I eat!

What better motivation to stay to it than getting some forum friends on there! Anyone willin to add me? User name is: Mouse0nTheMile

Note: the On is spelt with a zero, I deleted my old account but it still won't let me register with my old name haha.
