Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC
MouseOnTheMile replied to Kindle's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Ugh I hear this, I told my coworkers I was having a similar surgery to what the sleeve is, just the reason for having it was different. Worked awesome, I can talk openly about side effects, preop etc without getting the seething "you took the easy way out" look. I couldn't deal with what you are experiencing from them. Question: what is you after surgery diet like? One or two weeks clear liquid? How many weeks full liquid before puréed or soft foods? An how many from there until you start to have zero restrictions (for safety sake). My surgery is on Tuesday, leaving Monday morning to get there and this part has had me curious for a month or two now and I figure, same doctor, probably same after diet. -

Ugh, still five away from goal, sitting around 250 and I don't think I'm losing the other five in the next two days sadly... Hopefully that won't have any negative impact on my surgery but I'm trying to think positively. -

Yes. Keeps everything tight and prevents it from drooping lower as the weight comes off.

I wanna get the gastric sleeve done... looking for help please
MouseOnTheMile replied to Christina Clark's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry I won't be too much help to you. I live in Edmonton and getting in here through insurance is a nightmare. I wasn't willing to wait two years so I'm going to Mexico next week for mine with Ariel Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center! Couldn't be happier with my choice of surgeon this far. Unfortunately, I can't tell you his price, it's in the agreement, but if you email asking them, they will quote you. They are not spammers and will not contact you pushing you to set a date. I asked many questions and they never pushed before I finally set my date. The coordinators are very helpful. But I remember being in your position at the beginning. If you're ok waiting, then first step is to go to your doctor (I tried to go directly to a surgeon and they directed me to weight wise who then told me I need a referral from my doctor). Tell your doctor you are considering the sleeve and go in prepared. Being well informed makes them more confident you have done your homework and are serious. Then your doctor will send your referral to weight wise. They will EVENTUALLY call you for a consultation appointment (I've been on the list a year and still haven't received that call despite calling back and making sure I was on the list, so who knows what the wait for surgery is these days). After that consultation they will send you to some health conscious seminars that its mandatory you go to at least 4 of them and put you on a 6 month diet. If you can reach your goal weight they set for you and demonstrate an ability to maintain healthy choices, they will put you on another list and then you wait for a surgery date. I'm impatient though and hate jumping through hoops so I was like... NOPE, Mexico in a month? Two week preop diet? LETS DO THIS. -

It has begun...Relationship changes
MouseOnTheMile replied to Nurse_B's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my honest opinion, keeping toxic friends like that around is preventing the good ones from entering your life. Winter cleaning time! Make room in your life for positive people and hold your friends to the same standards you would a romantic partnership (don't tolerate abuse from anyone) and you will get amazing people coming your way that, even if they state their disagreements, will love and support you no matter what your choices are. Best of luck -

Haven't dared step on it yet... It's a foul, cruel beast and if its still where it was yesterday, I will probably take it out back ol Yeller style. Then get a new scale and hope it was born on the side of the just! -
