    Alberta Gal Here :)

I think I have decided to get my sleeve done in Mexcio by Dr. Ortiz
  2. Tonight I'm telling my parents I plan to undergo the sleeve procedure, and also that I'm looking at Dr Ortiz in Mexico for the end of October. I'm quite nervous about this and plan to have lots of research printed off for their viewing pleasure as well as information from this site to assure them I'm not going to some chop shop but I still expect the news to not be taken happily. Ugh. Wish me luck >.<

    Alberta Gal Here :)

Where are you from bigred? Who's your doctor? I tried to go that route but they are funneling me into weight wise... Which they said I probably won't even get a consult with them until after the new year. Needless to say I was depressed about that.
  4. I am preop but scared of losing hair, women on both sides of my family are super thin. I found this liquid supplement I'm going to stock up on and thought of post the link here for you ladies who might be having trouble finding liquid Vitamins. http://www.sibubeauty.com/revitalize_and_renew.php Hope all the posts here (including mine) can help you feel better and de-stress.

    Referral sent!

I'm so pre-op it's sad But I had my first appointment with my doctors weight lose nurse and she said she thought I was wonderfully informed (thanks to this forum haha) and prepared. She approved me for referral and sent it in. I'm hoping to go in for evaluation at the hospital ASAP. Just wanted to share my news and see if any people in Edmonton Alberta recently sleeved or in the process could tell me what their wait times were from first appointment to surgery date. Yippee! On my way to a better life.
  8. Hello fellow Edmontonians and surrounding areas! TaniaB, I was wondering how you went about getting your surgery. I tried calling a surgeons office and he directed me to weight wise and then they told me I need a note from my physician (I actually have that appointment tomorrow). I want to get this under way ASAP as I am committed to getting this surgery as a weight loss tool and don't want them giving me the run around. In fact I was sad to hear that in Canada we don't offer self pay because I don't want to fret about being denied approval and would rather just pay myself and have it done sooner. Sorry for rambling, the point I'm trying to get across is just asking what steps you took towards your sleeve if not through weight wise. I'd much appreciate the information

    28 sleeved and proud!

Wow! What an inspiration you are! I am very much pre op, hoping I can get this surgery but I have wanted to see people's results close to my starting weight and you're the closest I found. Thank you so much for uploading these photos, you're so beautiful and congratulations on taking your life back.
  10. Firstly I would like to say I'm not trying to exclude anyone, I have much respect for all of you who have made the decision to begin this journey regardless of age, cause that's just a number anyway. The reason I'm asking is that I am nearly 25, I have the first doctors appointment to get a referral form to begin the process on Wednesday. After much research, I am determined and committed to getting this surgery. I wanted to hear some of the younger Sleevers experience, if you had trouble with doctors refusing you due to age or how your skin reacted after surgery. My concerns are although I am very close to 40 on the BMI counter and have no other health issues besides my weight, they will refuse me. I am also in Canada, where they do not allow self pay. If I don't get approved or the wait is too long I will probably look into traveling to see a surgeon. I am SO inspired by your stories and appreciate any information from anyone. Thank you!

Any 20-30 Year Old Sleevers Out There?

Thank you for your information clk, I honestly don't have much in the way of stretch marks, my weight gain has been slow and steady over my life and the ones I do have are fine and near invisible, so that's a positive I suppose.

Any 20-30 Year Old Sleevers Out There?

That's awesome Jessica, wish everyone had it so easily lol. Did you have a long preop wait? As in did you go through the 6 month dieting? I hope to hear from some fellow Canadians as well, where they went and what not and what to expect with our healthcare.

Any 20-30 Year Old Sleevers Out There?

I honestly wish there was a self pay option so I could go in, hand them cash and say "slice me up!" Lol. I would look into traveling elsewhere but the only person I've told that I want to do this is my best friend and she's scared for me an would rather I tried all avenues here first.
