Yes, eBay, Amazon, even online medical supply stores. The Canadian ones don't stock incentive spirometers and the American ones (though eBay/Amazon) won't get it here in time. I'm having my surgery in Mexico and need to use the spirometer until the day of and then bring the spirometer with me to OCC. I'm swiftly running out of time.

    My Sob Story

Every surgeon is different. My surgery will be about a half hour but I'll be in the hospital over night. To all you moms with your fears about this surgery taking you from your kids, the only thing I can say is (hopefully it doesn't come off harsh, I find I have a blunt way about me so disclaimer: no offense meant) you have an exponentially higher chance of dying prematurely due to obesity related diseases than you do from having this surgery. This surgery is helping extend the time you have with your kids, not rob you of it.

So liquid diet sucks. I knew it would but mannnn lol. My preop diet says I'm allowed 3 shakes a day, 64 oz of water and I can have up to 4 pounds of steam green veggies per day. Now I know it says I'm allowed, but I feel like the veggies are cheating in a way. Someone free my guilty conscious if I eat green food! I just wanna masticate something

    Any Twenty-Thirty Canadians Around?

Nah I'm not nervous at all, just excited, as far as I'm concerned I am going to be see the best surgeon I could have hoped for. His credentials are amazing and the others on this forum who have seen him have nothing but good things to say. My father decide he wanted to come with me so that's nice they've been very supportive through out this process
  15. Say hi and state your date if you have it or your results if you're post op I'm from Alberta, surgery date set for November 12th in TJ, Mexico with Dr. Ortiz at OCC! So excited! Though I start my liquid diet on Monday for 15 days so that's a bit intimidating!

Seriously, veterans, how long does hair loss last?

I'm glad you didn't experience it with your breast reduction, but I know people who have unfortunately. It's not to say it can't bypass some lucky people, and some surgeries are more likely than others to cause it, but it can happen with any major stress put on the body. Hair is a non-essential function for our bodies so its one of the easiest to go hahaha

I'm sorry to hear about everything going on in your life Ringo, food is a crutch for most people here I think and it's totally understandable why you've had a hard time controlling yourself with so many stresses under foot. I am in total agreement with Back2Barb on this one, you do need to see this through and stop putting your life on hold because of others around you. As for arrangements with your children, you're putting up your sister and her family, it's the least they can do is help out with them while you're away for a few days. Built in babysitters! Put them to work!! Haha Stay strong and think about the future. All hard times give way and yield eventually to brighter tomorrows! Don't give up on this surgery or yourself. Make up for lost time and get ready to start this new chapter of your life!

Back2barb, just a question, how useful did you find the Abd Binder? Did it make a big difference?
