Sending a prayer for you!!
-
I started using Nioxin about a year after my twins were born b/c my hair had been thinning right up front in the center since 4-5 months post-partum with them. When it didn't start coming in on its own again I got nervous! I just use the shampoo and conditioner, and I do feel like it worked for me. My hair stopped clogging the drain after a few weeks on it. After finishing the giant liter bottles, I though I was OK to move on to something else. But again, my hair started clogging the drain when not using it. I think I may have to buy it for life!! I like the minty scent of it, at least of the system 3 that I use. Also, I pay around $35-$40 for a liter duo set when buying through Amazon. DO NOT buy through a salon!! I also recommended it to my brother who was greatly thinning and he swears it has helped him too.

I met my surgeon yesterday and feltcomfortable with him. Then had my last visit with the dietician til after surgery and signed my surgery contract. I started my liquid diet today for 9 days until surgery. I also have a cold, unfortunately!!! I will have an upper GI on Friday as a last test and then an anesthesia consultation. My date is July 19! -
Good luck!! I have twins also, who just turned two. How old are yours?

July sleevers! Are we ready!
nmck replied to shannyd4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, Allsun! a couple of weeks ago I weighed in high after a weekend of traveling and restaurant food and was told I may have to back track in the program. They gave me one week to weigh in again and I was totally terrified to eat anything other than protein or produce. It worked, b/c I weighed in a lot lower the next week. Thinkof it as your last diet without the sleeve for help! It would be worth it to keep your date. -

My pre-op diet starts this week so I ordered a variety pack of NSA Carnation from Amazon will arrive on Tuesday. When grocery shopping for the family today, I picked up some sugar free jello and started getting nervous and feeling like I am going to throw up just b/c it's getting so close!! -
I have been preparing for my surgery for months, and my little sister has been very supportive. She is also very heavy, and has been taking Phentermine for a few months. She had a check in with her primary doctoday and told the doc the meds aren't doing anything for her. She asked for information about bariatric surgery and was told by her doctor that it is a cosmetic procedure that most insurance won't pay for!!!! I'm utterly shocked! When my sis said she isn't interested in a bypass but a sleeve, the doc then told her it's not called a sleeve, it's called a lap-band. I told my sis I would be looking for a new doctor. That shocked me!!

I have a friend who had to use carecredit for something also and was going to suggest looking into that. I hope and pray it works out for you! payments on a $2400 loan wouldn't be too bad! Maybe youcould pay it down or off with a tax return next year? -

I am 5'9" and 331 pounds...having my surgery at Penn State Hershey Medica Center in PA. I am aiming for 170-180 for my goal weight! I've never been lower than 245 in my adult life and was well over 330 during high school. I'm ready to shed this baggage once and for all! Where will you have surgery? -
c-section How did recovery compare to previous surgeries?
nmck posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery date is July 18. I am feeling a little nervous about recovery! 5 years ago I had an emergency c-section, followed 16 weeks later by a laparoscopic-converted-to-open fibroid removal. Then 2 years ago I had another c-section for twins followed 12 weeks later by a laproscopic hernia repair. Has anyone had a c-section, myomectomy, or abdominal hernia repair to compare their sleeve recovery to? -
I feel lucky that my family and close freinds are supportive! A couple of my sisters tell me if it goes well for me they are going to look into it. For me, it's the fringe people I won't tell until after the surgery!

I don't have my surgeon consultation until Tuesday, but I just ordered myself an abdominal binder from Amazon liked I used after a c-section and a hernia repairb/c i felt like it made recovery faster. it's just a big, firm, elastic, velcro girdle that supports your stomach. I hope the surgeon says it's OK! -

How did recovery compare to previous surgeries?
nmck replied to nmck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, girls! My c-sections were both tough...Both followed a hospital bedrest so I was weak. First was an emergency after a hemmorhage and the second was for two babies. I really hope the sleeve is easier than the c-sections! This is the first surgery where I was working out ahead of time, so I hope that helps. -
yeah, July 18! I meet my surgeon next week.

My surgery date is July 18! I am having a hard time believing it is finally coming. I'm also getting a little nervous! -
I've told only very close friends and immediate family b/c I know what kind of gruesome stories and opinions people shared during pregnancy!! I didn't want to hear stories of some distant person they had heard of who dies from some ancient WLS. So when we were out of town a few weeks ago and I was making small talk with a salesperson helping me, I felt OK to mention the surgery as a related topic came up. I don't know this person, so why do I care what they think? She immediately asked if I had ever tried Weight Watchers and then told me I looked just fine the way I was...blah, blah. I smoothly ended the convo and later told my husband that interaction confirmed my decision to keep it to myself!!!

I also decided on WLS surgery thinking band b/c I have a coworker who has been quite successful. But when I went to my clinic's info session, the surgeon who leads ther program said she will not place any more bands b/c she thinks they areon the verge of FDA recall due to the high number of side effects. one of their surgeons is willing, but hearing her opinion really made me rethink this. I also learned that the band makes acid reflux worse, and doesn't change any of the body's chemistry that supports obesity. With the sleeve, there will be hormonal changes that reduce hunger.

I felt like this a little as I waited to be accepted into the program I'm in. I gained a few pounds during that time. My insurance will not allow you to gain weight from the start of the program. I actually weighed in high about two weeks ago after traveling to a wedding and eating very salty foods. B/c I weighed in 1.5 pounds over my starting weight they were going to backtrack me in the program. Since I had been traveling they let me weigh in again a week later and I was 9 pounds lighter. (Water weight!) So I am definitely not feeling like eating everything right now! I'm scared!

My date is July 18! I'm having a hard time believeing it until after I meet with my surgeon next week. I had a check in with the dietician today and started to get nervous afterward. I have had 2 c-sections, a fibroid removal, and a hernia repair (Both weeks after a c-section) So I am hoping this will be the easiest recovery since I am exercising now and have been for a couple of months.
