300 calories is really low for a whole day. My program's minimum requirement is 75g. of protein and 800 calories. I'm not always able to get 800 calories but I'm over 600. My dietician said it's like a car...the more fuel you put in, the farther it can go.

I drank so much water before surgery, I feel dehydrated if I only get in 64 oz/day. I don't know how anyone, regardless of surgery status can feel good with much less than 64!

I am 3.5 weeks out from surgery and in terms of fatigue, I feel fine at times, and wiped out others. I will say the wiped out feeling is becomingless frequent, so hopefully I will be able to make it through the days at work when school starts again next week!

Same for me!First 10 days post-op I lost 11 pounds and I lost a bunch on the pre-op liquids too. Now for the past two weeks I have lost only 2.5. So disappointing, but I have read on here about a 3 week stall so I figure this is it!

I only had1 week of full liquid, then purees til week 6, with something new added each week according to my program. I just started week 4 and I have been eating: ricotta cheese (mixed with cinnamon), cottage cheese, greek yogurt, pureed chicken with a veg in it, refried beans, deviled eggs, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potato, and canned crab meat with light mayo. I also made some sugar free pudding with a scoop of unflavored unjury. At this point I can eat about 3 tbsp at a sitting. I findd my biggest challenge is timing everything...making sure I am not drinking close to meals, and fittiing protein shakes in too. I feel lucky to have no trouble getting in my liquids...I'vebeen getting 80-90oz/day/ The clear liquids like water and diet tea I can drink pretty quickly b/c they just go right through the sleeve. I would say I can take in 32 oz in an hour. I worry about fitting it all in with timing when I am back to work when school starts in a couple weeks!

Why did you choose sleeve over bypass?

Happy Birthday! What a wonderful accomplishment/celebration! -
I set a timer on my phone to go off every 5 minutes. And for the first week, they had to be room temp!

Very interesting!

My 21st is in a couple weeks, and im 3 weeks postop. Whats the general consensus on alcohol, here?
nmck replied to robocop12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program asked us up front to commit to a minimum of 6 months alcohol free. One factor is the risk of ulcers is high in our newly healing stomachs. I personally wouldn't, but it's definitely worth asking your doc. -
Picture 10 months and 75 lbs gone

July sleevers! Are we ready!

I'm so confused by too many July 2013 threads!! -
I agree! Regardless of what the scale says, what a great piece of evidence that your stomach is looking smalller.

I also always seem to be on my cycle at weigh ins! I have mine right now as well and have my first post-op appt. on Thursday so the pattern continues!1 UGH! Hopefully it will be OK for you.

I was on Proteins right away. My NUT said the Protein is essential to wound healing, which I knew from my parents' various joint replacement surgeries and my previous c-sections. My OB was insistent on a high protein diet for healing my long c-section incision. I wonder how people on Clear Liquids for a few weeks fare in recovery compared to those who have to have Protein Shakes? And BTW, I did Atkins for a few years and detest their shakes!! The Slim Fast high protein shakes are the same flavor as the Atkins. I'm just making carnation w/ skim milk and adding 1/2 scoop of unjury unflavored Protein Powder per shake.

I was supposed to take protonix for 6 months! I couldn't handle it and had to switch to Zantac. PPIs give me a headache.

I take a children's chewable vitamin twice a day, along with calcium +D (at a separate time b/c calcium and iron shouldn't be taken together) , B12, and Biotin to help prevent losing hair. Why is it stupid to take a flinstone's chewable? They're very complete!

Best of luck!! I have been to spain and the food wasn't that good, so hopefully you won't be too tempted!

Yes!!! I have gotten scared that I am messing myself up and wake up relieved that I didn't really eat this stuff.

I don't understand the post op 2 week diet
nmck replied to hopingtolose2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mypost-op diet is really specific...1 week of liquids, then 4 weeks of purees where I can add certain things each week...tomorrow starts week 3 for me and I can add eggs, refried beans, mashed beans, and hummus. Next week I can add canned meat mixedwith light mayo. I'm not straying 1bit from my program's plan out of fear that I will mess this up!! -
I just caught up onall posts and am so sorry to hear several of you are having such troubles with pain and pain meds. I hope it is resolving by now. CFBarre, I am so sorry to hear about your ordeal! I hope you are home and on the road to recovery now. I'm surprised to hear about the differences in post-op diets...I have a very specific one to follow. The first week was all liquid, then 4 weeks of purees. No crackers or anything like that. I've been doing fine with fluids and protein. Luckily water still tastes good to me. I've been having 3 carnation shakes a day with added protein powder and half a bottle of isopure to hitmy 75 g. of protein. I felt like crap earlier this week....dizzy and exhausted. My primary doc took me off my blood pressure meds already!! Woo, woo!

I too am no expert, but I read caffeine can increase the risk of ulcers in people in general, so it makes sense that is a reason to avoid it considering ulcers are a big concern in the first year. Personally, I hope that after kicking my caffeine habits that I can live without forever!

I just boughtone yesterday!! I used a 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond and my total was $84. I pureed a couple of things today and thought it worked well. I used it to make my Protein shakes and my kids' morning smoothines with no issues. We bought it to replace the magic bullet we've owned and used a LOT for 7 years. (My kids drink their Breakfast EVERY DAY courtesy of the magic bullet!) The nutri-bullet is definitely a step up in power and quality over its little brother the magic bullet, and I am confident we made the right choice. Also, my brother is themanager at BB&B where we purchased and the ninja wasonly $40 more. I asked him which to buy. He said they get hardly any returns on the NutriBullet, and more returns on the Ninjas. Not a scientific review, but I trust him to sway my decision.
