Oh the RAGE
Nursebarbie replied to journeybegins05032013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really love the advice the others have given you. The doc can run some simple lab tests for hormone balance and also assess if you need something for depression and/or referral to a therapist. Worth taking a look. Why be miserable? -
Wow I didn't know that. Last time I couldn't fit anything in soma. G cup. Now I am a triple d. Worth checking out again for sure.

Obamacare will be like that here. Most nurses and doctors I know hate it. Oh well I guess the people who voted for it will find out.

My doc said I could have regular coffee so I did. And it was awful. I was so sick all day. Can't even stand the smell of coffee and I was a coffeeocholic before. Weird.

Nursebarbie replied to Canary Diamond's topic in Food and Nutrition
My surgeon said if it fits inside your wedding ring than you can swallow it. -
Hoping you feel better soon!

This will be the final nail in the lapband coffin. Saw that commercial and thought wow now they are really grasping at straws here.

Past 3 days I have been battling nausea and even vomitted twice. Almost 4 weeks post op so I had thought I was getting better. Then I got to pureed diet. Really hard time coming up with meal ideas. Guess my new blender really didn't puree enough and the bits were irritating my baby tummy. So today I bought a Vitamix. Best thing I have ever spent money on. It purees anything even an avocado seed. You can make low carb peanut butter with just unsalted peanuts. Its amazing and now the food is going down so much better. Worth every penny. Comes with a very nice cookbook.

You can appeal more than once and at different levels. Fyi.

Best money i have ever spent
Nursebarbie replied to Nursebarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Came with a big cookbook for soup, breads, smoothies, all sorts of stuff. My hubby has wanted it forever. I had wanted the magic bullet but since we had gift certificates he won. Otherwise I'm not sure I would have paid $600 for a blender. -
They really can't tell until they look inside. File an appeal with your medical group. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

We saved those gift certificates for a year. Didn't quite know what to use them for. So glad we waited. Maybe others can check out qvc and see -

A brand new cuisinart blender. Didn't even puree all that well. Vitamix purees even roasted chicken! I have more food options now. -
Kaiser, Has Anyone Has Plastic Surgery Through
Nursebarbie replied to tovanta's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Can you call and ask for the bariatric case management dept? Maybe they can help you with getting this approved with Kaiser. Worth a shot. -
I appreciate all the view points and hopefully this is helpful to the OP in finalizing her decision.

Nutritionist - " weigh and measure your food. Here's some hand outs. Eat 1200 calories sugar free fat free. Drink 64 oz Water. Eat 60 gm Protein." Doctor- " exercise 30 minutes every day. Eat less move more. Eat less carbs. Eat more protein. No junk food." Psychiatrist- " any plans to hurt yourself? No? How long have you battled your weight? Were your parents overweight? How did being overweight make you feel?" Same stuff in different versions for me past 30 years. Frustrating when I know if my thin friend and I eat the same kind of sandwich. I will metabolize it slower and retain more calories than her. People know why they are fat. We eat too much food than our bodies can naturally handle. For a variety of factors. I may not be an "expert" on the sleeve (yet) but I am an expert at being fat and its miserable when you are 14 and being teased at school. All it did was reinforce unhealthy habits of trying to lose weight and ruin my self esteem. I even tried to kill myself when I was 15 because I hated myself. This is why I am so passionate about this topic.

Fertility is increased so watch out! I for one, hope to reap this benefit!

And who ever called you a plant is not being helpful. Why are so people getting all uppity on these forums? Now who is being judgemental? Shouldn't we understand intimately how it feels to be looked at as less than human because we are obese? It seems some of us are way too quick to judge and end up putting their big size 11wide foot in their mouths!
