Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

HELLO GUYS! Wow... I read all the post and it is funny to see all of you feeling sort of like I do! I have not had a fill since surgery 4/30/07 and I do feel like I can eat more than what I thought I would be able to before the surgery. However this past week was the first week I haven't lost weight. Although it was an "experiment" week for me. I all of a sudden started having cravings for mexican, meatloaf, chicken wings, Arby's... etc, etc, etc. and well I ate it. Not a lot of any of it, but I ate it... and with NO PROBLEMS!!!! I have a lot to lose and don't want a fill yet so I actually opted (along with Dr's recommendation) NOT to get a fill at my 5 week check up. I don't have another appt until July 17. But I am ok with that. I don't really feel hungry inbetween meals and after my experiment last week I am back on track today... But I do notice a difference in my diet then what I see some others doing. I have a protein drink for breakfast (NO FOOD ALLOWED). Then lunch is 4 oz protein, and dinner is the same. Nothing else. It pretty much keeps me fairly full for the day.... I mean last week when I was craving things it wasn't that I was craving more food, just something with more taste (did I mention I do not cook, like I am really retarded when it comes to the kitchen... my husband does most of it, but we get stuck on the same 'ol things and that was getting old quick) I sometimes believe that this is a mind over matter diet and I have to go back and relearn to eat from scratch. I don't think I was born with the thing in my brain that says to stop eating, but I am learning to find it. Thank you all for your post and making me feel like I am not alone in this!! As WONDERFUL as my husband has been with this whole deal, he is 6ft and has weighed 165 since High School (even after 10 years of me trying to plump him up with junk food , his weight WON'T budge!!-- would hate him if I didn't love him so much!!) ~JEN~

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

WOW.. It looks like a good day to join this group... Sex talk on the first "date" .. I love it! Well, My name is Jen and I was banded 4/30/07 by Dr. Wohgelmuth in Norfolk, Va. So far I have lost 35 lbs (ok, I calculate my weight loss starting 1 week before my surgery since that is when I started my 'pre-op' diet and lost 11 lbs the first week). Anyhow, I am still navigating my way through this website. I thought I was good at computers until I hit myspace and this website -- I would love to join this "thread" and the shrinking violets group.. someone please tell me exactly how that is done... It has been interesting to see what types of post op diets there are out there... That is the one thing I find most confusing is what to be eating and how much... I take it from the fact I am losing weight I am not doing too bad, but per my surgeon I am on solid foods, but I can eat 4-5 oz right now. I drink a protein shake for breakfast (which is what I was told to do) then 4-5 oz lunch and 4-5 oz dinner. No snacks or anything in between. It is supposed to be high in protein and drink LOTS of no sugar/carb/calorie drinks... The protein and drink intake has been hard to muster when you don't eat much and you can't drink an hour after your meals.... I feel like a 2yo just learning to eat. Which I guess in a way we are having to "re-learn" to eat... this time around healthier and smarter!! -- Well I will end my first long note for now... I am open to any positive, funny, forward, honest responses!!
  6. Thanks you guys... I went to ticker factory last night, but got too tired to finish.. hopefully will get it up and going tonight... Since you both had surgeries around the same time.. What are you eating now?? I am pretty much on all solids and haven't had any problems eating them. I have not tried any steak or pork yet.. The only thing I have found that bugs me is eggs?!?!? I get really nauseous when I eat them (have done it twice now and two different varieties)
  7. I WAS BANDED 4/30/07... BY NORFOLK SURGICAL GROUP IN NORFOLK, VA. -DR. WOHGELMUTH... THINK HE IS THE BEST... SO FAR I HAVE LOST 35LBS... I AM STILL CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT TO EAT AND HAVE READ ABOUT THE "SLIMING" AND "PB'ING" BUT DON'T THINK I HAVE EXPERIENCED ANY OF THAT YET.. (AND HOPE TO NEVER DO!!) I HAVE NOT HAD A FILL AS I HAVE A LOT OF WEIGHT TO LOSE AND DON'T WANT TO RESTRICT MYSELF UNTIL I STOP LOSING WEIGHT WITH WHAT I HAVE. I DO WANT TO KNOW HOW TO GET THE WEIGHT TICKER AT THE BOTTOM OF MY REPLIES AS I THINK THOSE ARE VERY INSPIRATIONAL. THIS IS THE START OF A LONG JOURNEY AND SO FAR I AM ENJOYING THE RIDE!
