  1. I returned it, got my refund.... no questions asked. Thanks for the reviews.
  2. I bought a tub of this at the Vitamin Shoppe. It was $49.95. 2 scoops per serving, 22 servings per container. Each serving has 50 Grams of protein, 210 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, and 1 Gm of fat. My question is.... has anyone here used it, and how does it taste? I was thinking I could use 1 scoop as a serving. Should I mix it with skim milk, almond milk or water? Which tastes best? Before I open the canister I'd like to know how it tastes, and if it's worth the money.

    Tasteless protein powder

The only one I've tried is the Unjury, and I'm going to order some more. The reviews I've read say it's the best.

    Torani and Da Vinci Syrups

I wenI went to World Market today and they had Torani syrups 2 for $10. I bought 12, including salted caramel, white chocolate, S'mores, Almond Roca, English Toffee, French Vanilla, Raspberry, Peach, Brown Sugar and Cinnamon and Regular Caramel. All Sugar-Free. That was a real deal, they're usually $6.99 a bottle.
  5. I bought a tub of it, and got 2 packs in the sample kit. I haven't tried it yet, but I was surprised last night when I just had some chicken bullion. I didn't need the extra protein and it kept my calories to 10 and it tasted great. I was tired of the sweet drinks, and it really hit the spot. I think I'll try the Unjury chicken soup tonight.
  6. 1 scoop of Unjury unflavored protein powder, 8 oz unsweetened vanilla Almond milk, 1 oz DaVinci sugar free caramel syrup, few drops of coffee extract. Blend on high adding ice cubes 1 at a time to thicken. OMG, I could drink this everyday for the rest of my life. 120 calories, 1 carb, 2.5 grams of fat, no sugar, 1 gm fiber, and 21 gm. Protein. YUM

    The BEST Pre-op shake recipe

I got the coffee extract at Walmart. I got the DaVinci Syrup at TJ Maxx. World Market has Torani syrups, they're not as good as DaVinci, but it's hard to find DaVinci. They usually have them only around the Holidays, so I stock up when I can. Starbucks also sells their sugar free syrups by the bottle.

    Eating before surgery?

NO NO NO...... you're way past the time for food funerals, besides... think of how many "last meals" you had before you started every diet you went on throughout the years. It's never really worth it.... Whatever you think you want to eat today, will be there a few months from today, and you'll be able to have it... but just in a smaller amount. After the first few bites you really don't taste it anyway. DON'T DO IT !!!! Not only is it unwise, it's DANGEROUS. Your Dr. put you on liquids for a reason. You don't want him to cancel your surgery once he starts do you? That can happen...
  9. I've got 11 days till surgery and I need to detox from caffeine. What's the best way? Cut down gradually, or go "cold turkey"? Right now I drink 2 large mugs (16 oz. each) every morning. I've already cut out the diet coke since I know I won't be able to drink it post op.

    Purée ideas

If you like buffalo wings..... puree some canned chicken with a "triangle" of laughing cow light bleu cheese and a few drops of hot wing sauce. I can't say I've tried it, but it's on my plan for when I can have pureed foods. Also, I think Hummus is classified as pureed. Also, grilled cauliflower, pureed with a "triangle" of Laughing Cow Queso Fresco Chipotle cheese. Since I'm on "full liquids" this week, I've blended a can of Progresso Southwestern Chicken Soup with Veggies. It's 120 calories for the whole can. You can use it for several meals. Just add some unflavored protein powder and cayenne pepper. I really like spicy foods. I hope I'll be able to tolerate them after surgery.
  11. I'm a Nurse too, and I quit my last job (that I really loved) because I just couldn't work 12 hour shifts anymore. I started my liquid diet on Thursday. Thursday and Friday were stressful at work (I work on an Acute Psych Unit). I don't know if it was the stress or the 2nd day of liquids, but I did have a headache and my neck and shoulders were hurting me. I took 2 Tylenols at work. When I got home (at midnight), I took a Flexeril and Restoril and had a good night's sleep. I'm off this weekend, start my 4th day of liquids today and I feel fine. I have 7 more shifts to work before I start my medical leave. I can't wait to board that plane.... Surgery is Aug. 1st in Mexico.

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet Experiment

I'm doing pretty well with the Pre-op liquid diet. Last night I started feeling hungry. I had a chicken bullion cube, mixed it with hot water and really enjoyed it. I didn't think I was going to like it. I just wanted something very low calorie that wasn't sweet. I was pleasantly surprised.

    How to display "My Surgeon"

I had the same problem, but after reading the posts, I went back, tried it again and it finally worked. I can't say how I did it.... just tried clicking on different things till I got the drop down. That was it.

    SO nervous! Aug 1st!

I'm having surgery on August 1st also !!!! This is day 3 for me of liquids, and it hasn't been difficult at all. I think I really prepared myself mentally for it. Plus, I was binging like a maniac the last several weeks, so not eating is almost a relief. At the rate I was going, I wouldn't be able to fit into my scrubs if I'd gained another 5 pounds. (which would have been easy in a week) My Doc only prescribed one week of liquids, but I chose to do 2 just to stop the bingeing, (and get a jump start on the weight loss). I'm not planning on doing a YouTube video diary, but I would like to start a support group for all the August 1st People. My email address is AmyLynnBrock@hotmail.com. Email me if you're interested.
  15. Sorry you had such a rough time, besides the insensitive, uncaring Nurse. I'm a RN, and that just makes me angry that she was ignoring your Husband and your intuition. You knew something was terribly wrong. I also question how you could have lost all that blood un-noticed. Please tell us where you had your surgery, and who your Dr. was. HIPPA laws only pertain to patient's, not physicians.

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

I've been a Psych RN for 37 years. I work for Orlando Health. I probably would have had my surgery at one of my company's hospitals, but I was denied by Health Choice, (our insurance company) so I'm going to Mexico for the VSG as a self-pay. I've got 10 days before my surgery and I'm really excited. It will be interesting compare the quality of care in Mexico vs. Orlando Health's "Patient First" policy. From what I've heard, I think I'm going to be pleasantly surprised. My Surgeon is Guillermo Alvarez, MD in Piedras Negras, MX>

Starting two weeks of liquids today

This is day 3 for me, and I've got to say I haven't been hungry at all. I had a slight headache last night, but 2 Tylenols took care of it. I've been shopping all day today and doing a lot of running around. I didn't feel tired though till I sat down at my computer. They say the first 3 days are the hardest. If that's the case, the next 10 days should be a breeze.

    Day 2 since surgery....

Hang in there.... it's gonna get better. I started my liquid diet yesterday and I'm 13 days away from surgery. I can't say I'm looking forward to the pain, gas and nausea I've read so much about... But I am imagining myself in a pair of Petite size 4 jeans, and FEELING satisfied with a few bites instead of guilty and remorseful after a full blown binge. I'm looking at the big picture, and my future looks bright.

    Pre-Op Begins Today

I was told to do 7 days, but decided to do 14 days of liquids. I started yesterday also. So far, no headache, no hunger and down 3.4 pounds, overnight. Haven't given up caffeine yet and not looking forward to the withdrawal. I'll fight that battle next week.
  20. Consider the co-morbidities you had before surgery, or what your future would have looked like had you not had the surgery. All things considered, I still think the benefits outweigh the risks. Enjoy the new life you have... don't live in fear or regret. JMHO

    1st day, pre-op diet

I made it through day 1, no headache, no hunger, and drum roll please...... I was down 3.4 pounds. Is it worth it. HELL YES !!!

    Not Sure I Do This

I really believe the benefits more then outweigh the risks. If you follow your Dr's pre and post-op instructions to the letter, without interpretation or rationalization you should do fine. Poop happens.... but leaks are rare. I'm not a religious person... but God knows your needs and challenges. Don't live your life in fear. Good luck with your decision. Start losing weight now.... while you're deciding. Even a 5% weight loss makes a huge difference in your risks.

    1st day, pre-op diet

Mine's a 1 week full liquid diet 800-1000 calories / day and 70 gms. of Protein. I decided to do 2 weeks because I've been on a non-stop binge for the last several weeks. I had good intentions of doing Weight Watchers for 2 weeks before starting the liquids, but it's been one "food funeral" after the other. So, I started this morning. I decided to try the Unjury Unflavored first. I mixed a scoop with approx. 16 oz water with Mio Cranberry-Raspberry drops. It doesn't taste bad at all. So it's Day 1 for me... The good news is I'll NEVER be 204.8 pounds EVER again.

    lightweights around 200 pounds

After several weeks of uncontrolled bingeing, I got on the scale this morning and my weight was 204.8. My surgery is in 2 weeks. I am supposed to start my 1 week pre-op diet on July 25th, but I decided to do an extra week as a jump start. Knowing I don't "really" have to start for another week, this will be my test of my own commitment. Technically.... I can still cheat without being non-compliant with Dr's orders, but I really want to make this work for me. I was hoping to be 185 on my day of surgery, but clearly that's not going to happen. I'm 60 years old and 5' tall. My goal is 125.
