    July 18th surgery!

don't fret, many in the same boat. I am sending out my empathy waves. I am only down 2 lb. I woke up in an incredibly irritable mood. I will try to curb myself for my daughters sake (she's not up yet). It's so day by day. I have a lot of gas/bloat too. I am sooo sick of this clear liquid diet and I have a whole week more. 15 days on CLEAR liquids - are you KIDDING me?

    IsoPURE NASTY

It's the WORST ever. I tried a few pre-surgery. gag. I bout a CASE of the coconut as it wasn't as bed as the others but I am 5 days out and haven't even gotten through ONE bottle, and I mix it with (real) coconut Water, regular water and some white grape juice. I know I am not getting enough Protein (about 20g/day) should I be worrying? I know it will be WAY easier once I am on full liquids (10 more days).

    So Much Pain!

how long is it ok to take gas-x, and how much? a couple of times a day i get really bloated and get a lot of back pain. I have had two strips so far today (in the morning) but it says no more than 8 in 24 hours? Oh, I'm 5 days post-op.

    July 18th surgery!

Down 11 pounds! that's great, I'm UP 2 pounds and feeling so bloated that I may give birth soon. Head hunger is there, but not overwhelming (TV is deadly - so many food ads.) There is no WAY I am getting enough Protein or liquid at this point (60-70g/64oz), more like 10-15g/30oz. Also, I thought I was on Clear liquids for 10 days, but just read in the aftercare instructions that if one had a hernia (which I did) clear liquids for 15 days!!!! UGH. Pain is way better, but the drain wound still scares me.
  5. Surgery in the morning. Threw up about two hours ago. Guess I'm nervous. This will be night two with very little sleep. Ugh. Don't know what to do with myself. Sleep well all.
  6. ...although, I remember reading that Mexicali has a high population of Chines people (a diverse city in general), so maybe it IS good?
  7. Yeah, I remember from your post, but Chinese in Mexico sounds sketchy. I'll post in the forum and see what people say.
  8. Where should I go for my all-important 'last meal'?
  9. You are beautiful before and after, but your smile seems bigger and more genuine in your after photos. Congrats!
  10. Thanks Amanda for your original post. Seeing all the positive thing said about Dr Aceves made the choice easy and made telling worried family members easier too. I am getting sleeved on Friday July 19th. Am starting to freak out a bit, mostly grieving an old way of eating (whatever I want!) and worrying that this will be another weigh loss attempt I will fail at.
  11. Oh, I didn't read carefully enough. You are concerned that not enough in pre-op stage will not prepare you for post op. Are you an over achiever? Ha. I know the feeling. Although my Dr only required the week of high protein/low carbs, I started at three weeks out and I started out substituting a lot of meals for Protein Shakes in anticipation of life after surgery. There is no harm in doing more as long as you are still getting enough nutrients etc., and your Dr. knows about it. In fact starting early could be beneficial too, because if you slip early on, you can correct it when it doesn't officially count yet. Does that make scene?
  12. Some pre-op diets are tied to BMI numbers. I also do not require a liquid diet beforehand, only a high protein/low carb for a week. But, I am on liquid for 3 weeks post-op which is longer than many Dr.s require.
  13. Are you on only clear protein? I know those clear Isopure drinks are putrid, but they have so much protein. It's the after-taste that kill you. I drink them while holding my nose, and i keep holding it for about a minute afterwards, until the smell passes. I've heard Unjury: chicken soup and the unflavored kind are decent (I've ordered some - surgery on Friday - clear liquids for the first 10 days). I plan on mixing it with the water zero flavored drink which I quite like. I pray I don't have an aversion to milk and the like - I love milk- that would be a great loss. Good luck
  14. JSCRIMPSHIRE, you are a bit late to the thread. The crisis is averted and she did, in fact go to the hospital. But your instincts are correct.

    July Sleevers - Post Here!

One week to go. I'm getiting nervous. My eye has been twiching for three days. Super annoying. Anyone going to Aceves around the 19th?
  16. I feel your pain. I really try to stay away from processed food as well and the post-op diet suggestions sound horrible. Given how much protein is needed though, I just decided to drink the crap until I can eat pureed food. It's just a few weeks. You can flavor the water with fresh fruit, you just can't, obviously, eat the fruit.
  17. I don't know if this question should be in pre or post-op. I am getting sleeved in Mx on July 19th. I live in Seattle but am from NY. Would I be crazy to book a flight to NYC (for 2 weeks) three weeks after surgery? I want to go visit this summer (my dad is very elderly and my step father is quite sick) and would need to go before my daughter's school starts again in Sept. Am I crazy to consider this? I really want to go. Thank you for your thoughts on this.

    Sleeved June 21st

That was my mantra for 40 - went back to weight watchers for the 3rd or was it 4th time at age 39. Didn't happen - gained it all back. I'm your age now with much the same goal. We will start out journies about a month apart. Well done!
  19. and clk - could you be any hotter in your post op pick? All curves (and tats ).
  20. ahaha - don't cross my legs! I wish. I was making a mental list this morning of things that will be sooo much easier without the extra weight and crossing my legs, at all, was on the list (along with cutting toenails and tying laces). As for staying on track, I will only be three weeks out so I will still be pretty restricted - stage 3 - I think. I figure if I can't stay on track for the first few weeks, I am not ready for this surgery. Thank you for the advice, and, ps, we have the same surgeon!
  21. so relieved, a lot of people were very worried about you young lady! this is the first place i went to this am to see if there was any news, so thank you for checking in and letting us all know. glad you are home.
  22. so many of you reccomend a small firm pillow. i understand why, but what kind of pillow? i can't really picture it? a couch cushion? travel neck pillow? i've also heard teddy bear. is there a special kind, or can i just grab a stuffed animal off my daughter's bed?

    small firm pillow

That's an idea Denn. Then I could give it to my daughter afterwards (she's very anti surgery -she is afraid I will die)! Maybe I will let her pick it out.
  24. Another Seattle here!
