    "Dumping" Syndrom?

I had that after I started drinking my protein shakes. Took about a week for it to stop. Though I'm almost 8 mons post op it still happens when I eat/drink something that I shouldn't have. If you keep track of what you eat/ drink before it happens you'll know your do' & don'ts. Nurse told me I could add peanut butter to my protein shake for more protein & flavor. Tried it, caused the syndrome. Won't try that again.

post op clear liquid diet how long?

Weight loss was rapid from day of surgery up until maybe 7 mons out. I'm at the stage now that it may appear I'm not losing, but I'm actually losing about 5 lbs a mon now.
  3. Whey protein from Walmart. Flavors pretty good, the big tub for $15.99 last for 30 days. Just tried something called Muscle Milk which is good too.

post op clear liquid diet how long?

I was on clear liquids for the 2 days in hospital. Then each stage (4 stages) afterwards was 10 days. It was frustrating, but I was so afraid if I got off course, I'd be in the ER. So I stuck with each stage for 10 days and had no problems at all. Sleeved on 11/7/2012 & down 56 lbs. Was actually down 25 lbs at my 4 week post op.

    Dreading lose skin

Be sure to exercise as soon as you get the green light. As you lose you can tighten little by little. You will have some lose skin, but if you tone & tighten it may not look as bad. Drink your protein shakes. It will help build & tone as well.

    No regrets

Ditto to all of your comments. This is the best thing I could have ever done to get & stay healthy. I'm down 56 lbs and still dropping a few here and there. Cured my health issues. I feel so good & never felt better. So much energy & in the gym 4 days a week to tone. I am loving the results.

    Low Libido

Prior to surgery, my sex drive was pretty good. The first couple of months post op it was low. But I'm 8 months out and my drive have never been better. So give it time.
  8. You got the right idea. I never shopped for clothes at Walmart but bought small pants today for $7 which will do the trick for now.

    Awesome moment happened today

Awesome, that is a boost. I saw my nephew for the first time last month since he left for college last summer. He said "you got little!" Never though I looked big to him before. It's awesome!!!!
  10. Miss Bean, oh how I can relate. I was at 197 wearing size 14 standing at 5' when I started. With back & joint problems among other issues. Down to 142 at last weigh in on may 5. I'm down to size 8 now which is getting a little loose. Doc told me there's still another size or 2 to go. so don't spend too much money buying new clothes now, because in another couple of months, you gonna go down anther few sizes. Never thought I'd say buying clothes was a waste of money, but finding myself saying it now. Once I plateau, can' t wait to buy that new wardrobe.

    Acid reflux

My dr wrote me a script for the prescription strength Prilosec. It worked. Took it prior & after surgery. By my six month post op, took me off completely. No signs of reflux now.

    Feeling Great

Awesome. I was officially removed from the danger list. No more GERD meds, sleep study showed no episodes. Funny thing is while I was removed from the obesity list, I'm still on the overweight list. But no worries, I'll work my way off that list too. I am very thankful for this tool and will continue to utilize it to the fullest to maintain a health lifestyle.

    Feeling Great

Had VSG on 11/7/2012 after unsuccessful dieting for over 10 yrs. Was embarrassed after doc gave me info on morbid obesity during annual exams 3 yrs straight. Though I knew I was overweight 198 @ 47 yrs old, but didn't think I was obese. After being borderline diabetic, in danger of high cholesterol, had GERD & had sleep apnea, and doc said if numbers remain the same or get worse at 2013 physical, he would prescribe medications for diabetes & to lower cholesterol numbers. I really didn't want to deal adjustments due to medications and ailments, so I accepted I was obese for my height & body frame. I spoke w my husband about making a life change to get. With his tremendous support, I accepted the fact that I needed to make a big effort to get & remain healthy. Considered lap band proc, but after going to workshops & education myself, I decided on the VSG. Best thing ever......when I started the journey I was at 198 lbs, since surgery, I weigh 140 lbs & never felt better. Exercising 4 times a week & eating healthier.

    Anyone in ny

I was pretty freaked out too. I was so overwhelmed w the different diet phases, thought, " I'm I really going to be able to follow all of it?" Then I thought to just follow each phase regardless if I liked the choices that was listed. Though it seemed impossible, taking I one phase at a time, really help kept me focused & less stressed. I actually followed the directions word for word & had no complications. I was concerned that it took a few months to be able to drink the required amount of fluids & meet my daily protein requirements, but doc told me not to worry or try to force anything. With patience & pep talks w husband, best friend & doctors office staff during post op appts, I got through it w no complications. No trips to hospital or anything. You will get through it just find. Just think about how healthier u will b, how good you will feel and look. Think about the end results. Very rewarding.

    Getting psych eval tomorrow

It's a screening process to determine if there's any depression and/or addictive habits that need to be addressed/monitored prior to and after this life altering surgery.
