Did ur spouse stay at hospital
Private Sleever replied to huligoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband stayed both nights with me which helped me a lot since I absolutely HATE hospitals. He was so concerned and protective, every time i moved, he was there to help me. Didn't shower, no energy, but sponge bathed. Didn't take much to hospital. Just the normal toiletries and something comfortable to wear home. -
I initially was to stay only one night. I actually felt pretty good, but blood levels were low & thought I'd need a blood transfusion so they kept me an extra night. The thought of that was scary. As it turned out all of the fluid they flushed through the IV & blood thinners diluted my blood. Thank GOD no transfusion was necessary.

I ditto Arts127. I'm almost 8 mons out and only have loose stool if I eat or drink the wrong thing. Like if I ask for decaf coffee & DD, I can always tell when they give me regular. Within like 20 mins. Other than that, 2-3 times a day it's normal.
-
I was told to avoid caffeine, but doc said if I must coffee I could do decaf. Said if I needed a boost to mix it half reg w half decaf. While I loved & had to have at least a cup per day pre op, I may only have a small cup on Fridays (as my treat) & it's mixed.

Suggestion for hair loss
Private Sleever replied to SimplyFAB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed the day that I was able to intake at least 60 gm of protein, my hair lost stopped. My hair is pretty thick, so i only noticed the hair lost while washing it daily in the shower. It was my notice that the day prior my protein intake level as under 60 grams. So I started adding nuts as a daily snack which help me reach my daily protein goals. Hair loss stopped for me after 4 mons post op. -
Yes, I was on a strict pre-op diet for 7 days. Doc said its to shrink the liver so it's easier for them to get to your stomach during the procedure.

Wow, congrats!!! Amazing transformation. -
Been with my husband for 23 yrs, married for almost 19. We've always been known to be extremely physically attracted to each other, even with our weight gain over the yrs. my husband has no problem dropping pounds, where it was never easy for me. But sex has always been great. NOW, after the sleeve is a different incredible experience. While hubbie was very supportive during my struggle to get healthy, surgery or not, I think he's happier than I am now. I think he thinks he has a new wife. I laugh & tell him I'm new & improved. Lol... Everything has gotten smaller, not worried about that because I was a size 3/4 when I met my husband & a 5/6 when we married. So not worried about him seeing my small boobs, smaller bottom, or my very very small scars. Yes, I feel more confident that I no long look like I am pregnant. No longer have to spend hundreds of $$$$ on body magic garments to tuck stomach. Everything has shrunk to both our liking & appreciation. And still shrinking. When I say everything has shrunk, it's left one thing exposed quite often. "Not being shy, right?" So when I walk or sit, I'm turned on. Incredible!!!!!! So you can only imagine what happens by the time I meet up with my husband thoughtful the days. Funny that we do stuff now that I don't recall doing years ago when I was a size 7-8. We laugh now only saying I was still being "conservative" then, now that we really really now & respect each other, the things we do, WOW!!!! I new found attraction. Oh so happy!!!!!

When I get bored: Take a walk Pick up my phone or iPad I have a radio on my desk w the iPod dock & play it low that only I hear it. My music is the best therapy and it gets me through the day. I have my favorite radio station that keeps me entertained in the morning instead of coffee. They say when you get bored, work in something that you can at the time instead of eating. You'd be surprised. It really works.

Yes, people are funny. Me, I don't like too much attention. A compliment here and there is ok. But I have this 1 co-worker that would say stuff that she thought was a compliment but it was so over the top it was offensive. Some would say a form of harassment. Other coworkers say the lady may just be envious. I tried to tell her several times it was too much, but she kept going almost every other day. REALLY. I often find my self just avoiding her now because the very last time she caused such a big stir, had so many people up out of there seats, it was an embarrassing moment. Too much attention all at once for such a private person. Because of office gossip, I didn't tell any of my co-workers about the sleeve. Only told the few folks that I talk to at work that I'm on a major Quest to get & remain healthy thru healthy eating & exercising which is all they need to know. So I would really be ok with little to no attention about the weight at all.

Good luck. You'll be fine.....

Because I know folks often judge & say we've taken the easy way out, which is far from the truth, I told only my husband & 2 very close friends just in case i slipped up. Didn't want to hear the crap, so I kept it very private. I've always been a very private person, so my journey has been awesome & judgement free thus far. -
Sleeved on 11/7 & doc gave approval to drink wine on new yrs eve. 1/2 glass of wine had me pretty tipsy. So be careful.

2 days post op and feel like poop! Also, have questions
Private Sleever replied to cmathews77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My week 2 had me feeing like I got run over by a tractor trailer. Not to mention I was so overcome with emotional breakdowns with major regrets. Worst week ever. My husband stayed home with me the first week taking care of me & keeping my company. He was & is the major part of my small support system because i only informed 3 people that i was getting sleeved, so when he left for work the 2nd week I went nuts. He & my girlfriend would call/text me throughout the day, which helped tremendously. By week 3 my emotions were in tact, i was pain free. Been smooth sailing since then. -
How much time to take off from work for surgery?
Private Sleever replied to pinkowl00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took off 5 weeks. Doc did say I could go back after week 2 but recommended I wait until I was on solid foods, energy level got better & to adjust to a new schedule that included exercising. So she wrote me out for 5 weeks which was the best thing every. Well, the best thing was when I returned, I was 25 lbs lighter & the compliments haven't stopped yet. -
2 days post op and feel like poop! Also, have questions
Private Sleever replied to cmathews77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg, my week 2 was the worst. If the coordinator hadn't warned be about week 2, I would have lost it. She was 9 mons out and told me what to expect from week to week. She said by week 3 things would look up. She was right. So it helps to speak with folks that's been through it. I walked for 10-15 mins every 2 hours & whenever I felt that "gas" pain. That helped a lot. Couldn't lay down comfortably for 2 weeks, so may husband @ I camped out on the couch until it got better. My pain meds kept me relaxed & kept my mind off the pain. Whatever you need to do to relax, do it because your mind and body really need it at this point. In time, you will realize its the best thing you could've done for yourself. HANG IN THERE!!!!! You'll see. -
"Dumping" Syndrom?
Private Sleever replied to ladylaura's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I can tolerate the shakes pretty well. It was hard when I first started drinking them. The shakes that i drink are pretty tasty. But I just recently tried adding the peanut butter for additional. I'm able to consume the required amount of protein daily. Was just trying something different to keep it interesting.
