Keep up with protein, fluids & maybe increase your exercising. I'm 8 mons out and while the weight loss has slowed down, I am still dropping a few lbs per month. -

Co-workers are starting to notice weight loss!
Private Sleever replied to greygirl903's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told only my husband, 2 very very close friends & my HR rep. No one in my famil knows.. Didn't want the negative comments. Needed this journey to be as positive as possible. And it's been just that. When i was out of work for 5 weeks, my family didn't know i was out. when my short term disability was approved, all my supervisor knew was just i'd be out for personal reasons. Due to HIPAA regulations, no one at work is permitted to ask me the reason i was out. Though they may still ask personal health questions about others, they know me to be a very private person and never asked my why I was out. Some did comment acquisitively about my losing weight, but I just gave they a crazy look. After about 4 mons the compliments started. Some a little too overwhelming. they tell me i've kept it off really well & tell me how great i look. some folks ask now how i managed to keep the weight off. I tell them with exercise & eating healthier. -
I started at size 13/14 pants. Bought 1 or 2 pair of 15/16 which is when I said I had to do something. shirts were large & xlarge. Since surgery, I'm now wearing 5/6, shirts small. Been having fun shopping and just decided to try 3/4 pants. While i was able to get into a few of them, depending on the brands some were too tight. I'm actually hoping to plateau @ 5/6, but I won't complain if I continue to shrink if i continue to be healthy. I'm only 8 mons post op & know the weight is still dropping. i was told for my 5' height & body type I should weigh 107. So whenever i reach 107, I'll probably go down another size or 2. Either way, I'll continue to have fun shopping as its been years since I was able to shop without buying stuff to "try" to camouflage my midsection.

Anyone have temporary post op acid reflux?
Private Sleever replied to lynndtt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had reflux for 18 yrs. 4 mons post op taking off of meds and only 1 episode since and that's because I laid down to soon after eating. Otherwise, no further acid issues and I am 8 mons post op. -
During the purée stage, I was given the ok for chicken or turkey as long as i puréed it with a little fat free gravy.

How much did everyone lose before surgery?
Private Sleever replied to Taylor06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Though I wasn't required, I lost 18 lbs before surgery. -
People are different. But for me, I had reflux for 18 yrs. Four months post op doc took me off of meds & I only had 1 episode since.

My doc told me no strenuous activities for 6 weeks & said it included not having sex. I really didn't want sex until after 4 weeks. Once got the green light, it's been great. With the weight loss, I'm feeling better, more confident about my body & looking sexier than ever. Judging by my husband's reactions, I'll say it's better than ever. Sooooo exciting!!!!!!

What if I die?
Private Sleever replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thought about that too, even up to the moment i entered the OR. But prayed about it constantly. No regrets now. All is well. -
My cycle was crazy post op. Came on time a few days after surgery & cramps were excruciating. Lasted for a couple of days. Back to regular cycle for next 2 months. Then no cycle for 2 months. When cycle returned, got it twice in 1 month. Cycle back to normal now. Doc said it was related to hormonal & weight changes from procedure.

Ok, i found it at CVS.

If you haven't already, try putting on some of your clothes you wore this time last year. At 70 lbs down, I bet they'll be falling of you. Go to the mall or something & just try on clothes 3 or 4 sizes smaller than pre-op. You'd be pleasantly surprised.

Never had at flashes pre-op. three mon post-op, OMG. They came with a vengeance! I understood there would be hormonal adjustments, but geesh!!!!! Doc attributed part to hormonal changes from significant weight loss & my age (47). I tried to deal with them for a month with no relief. So I finally gave in & found an herbal supplement that I take daily. Within 10 days, hot flashes & night sweats subsided. Call it my miracle pill because after 10 days, they stopped completely. Thats not unless i miss 2 doses.

WHEN! Oh WHEN...will the scale move?
Private Sleever replied to Karnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe me, it will move. It's only been a week. Your body need time to get rid of all than anesthesia, gas & fluids they pumped in you during the surgery. Believe me, the scale will move sooner than you think. -
When do you start counting calories and protein?
Private Sleever replied to kjordan83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't count calories. But I do count my daily protein & water/fluid. Each day I have a post-it on my desk and make a tally. Each bottle of water, I make a check mark; each meal & snack, I write done the gm of protein. So by the end of my work day I'm done my fluids & most of my protein. By dinner time, my daily protein intake is easily met. -
Same here, got the ok to exercise as tolerated at 6 weeks.
