sensy started following I can eat almost normally, is this right?, Why do you have a scar???, LapBand vs. Bypass & weight loss and and 7 others
-
I have been asked about my scar. What is that from? I don't like telling people about my surgery until I am ready for them to know, so what can I say when someone (especially opposite sex) wants to know about my scar? Any suggestions?

I am feeling somewhat discouraged and I hopefully someone out there will have some answers about this... I know three people that have had bypass surgeries - their weight is falling off. I, on the other hand, got my band in Feb. and have only lost 30 lbs. Everytime I talk to my bypass friends they want to know how much I have lost, etc. and we compare notes. One of my friends had her bypass done around the same time I had my band and she has lost double the weight I have. I don't think I can take another fill because sometimes I do throw up and my band is restricting the amount I eat. What is the deal? I want to lose more weight like they are.

When I drink or eat anything I burp these little burps over and over and over. I don't burp at all unless I eat or drink. I am driving everyone nuts, but I can't help it. Why is this happening?

Jayme - What are somes solid protein foods that are good to eat - ? I am going to try replacing the ones I eat now with something else.

I would like to thank everyone that has replied to my message. I appreciate you lending a helping hand. I feel like I have always tried to eat lots of protein, and I am sure I am getting enough calories, so I don't think that could be it. Things I eat most often are red beans, pinto beans, brocolli, advacodo, cauliflower, cabbage, fish, cheese, eggs, various diff. soft meats, and my salad usually does have chicken or crabmeat on it. I have had my thyroid checked a couple of different times prior to banding and they have always said it was fine. I probably don't drink enough water b/c I do mainly just drink something if I am thirsty, so I need to up the intake on that. This is just a mystery for me, and it is driving me nuts.

I am really looking for some answers to my dilema - please lend any advice - here is my situation.... I was banded in early Feb. 05...to date, I have lost only 24lbs. Most of that was lost when I had a fill that was too tight. I could not eat or drink at all and was vomiting in my sleep. I had a tiny bit taken out and it did make the world of difference. I drink only tea with splenda or crystal light. I eat tiny meals most of the time which usually consists of things like beans, vegetables, salads, cheese, or fish. Sometimes I eat a big salad, but that is all I will have for that day. I'm an active person. I know I am eating at least 80% less than I was pre band. Why am I not losing weight? I can't believe that the scale has not moved in a month. I am too afraid to go back and get another fill because I think that tiny bit will put me back to not being able to drink water and vomitting at night, but I am beginning to think that is the only way that I will lose weight.

After my first fill which was to 1.5cc I gained two pounds. I did feel some restriction with certain things, but I found that if I ate very slowly I could eat just about anything and a lot of it. I am now at 1.9cc and it is MUCH better as it is keeping me from overeating. Ask your doctor if you can come back in for a little more of a fill and you will begin to see.

I went to the doctor!!! He wasn't there...no problem...so the nurse took some fluid out. I was at 2.2 and asked to be brought down to 1.9. It was like magic. I can now drink fluids!!!! Whew! it feels soooooo good because I was soooo thirsty. Eating is still questionable. I can eat yogurt with no problem and potted meat (Deviled Ham), but other things still want to come up. I can also sleep!!!! I am just so happy to be able to drink and sleep I haven't gotten to the point where I care about eating yet. I did lose 14 lbs. during those two weeks of misery, but I am sure that a lot was water weight. I am really hoping that this is the magic number for me and that I can stay with this for a while with good results. Thank you for your advice I certainly appreciate it!!!

This second fill kicking my butt...and I need to know what to do...???
sensy posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Got my second fill after having NO weight loss with the first....started out not able to get hardly anything down - even liquids. Now, I can get little tiny amounts of food and liquid down - very slowly - during the day. I have PB'd quite a few times. When I sleep, during the day for a nap or at night, I feel liquid come up my throat and it burns. It wakes me up and I cough and sometimes spit up. I'm so upset because I NEED restriction, but these things are concerning me. Should I keep giving it time???? or should I go in and have some taken out? -
My problemo is that I LOVE to eat. It tastes so dang good. I eat when I am happy, sad, mad, depressed, bored, hungry, not hungry, any and every reason. I wish I wasn't like that and I wish fast food had never been invented. My childhood wasn't all that bad - I started eating for any reason and emotion I felt because it was something to do and tasted so marvelous. I wish I had some taco bell right now - but my band won't let me - should have got the band installed 10yrs. ago......Now, I think about how I used to eat this or that or how it used to be so easy and pleasureable to eat and I actually question my decision on getting the band. I really miss all that fun and delicious eating!!! but, I want to look and feel good too....what a mess.....

I hope someone out there can help me out on this..... here goes my situation... I got my band - gained two pounds the first month - got a fill - lost the two pounds that I gained the first month and was back at my starting weight - extremely depressing - After the first fill, I did feel restriction some of the time, but I didn't feel that it was near enough for me since I was eating pretty much what I wanted and large quantities a lot of the time - I was very excited to get another fill - got it two days ago - now, I can't keep liquids down. When I drink, I take a tiny sip and it feels like it is sitting on my chest like a lead weight. My question is --- do I wait a while to see if this will pass? or do I call the doc and have some taken out? I wanted so desperately to get good restriction so that I would start losing, but now this....what to do???

I am not sure what the deal is, but my band feels like it doesn't work after 5pm. I have restriction during the day which keeps me from over eating, but by dinner time I can eat way way more than I would like to. This is the time that I am the most hungry and it seems like my band is almost non existent. What is the deal? I have had one fill so far and that was about 3 wks ago.
-
I, too, could eat just about anything and could eat a lot more than I expected to be able to before my first fill. I just had my first fill three days ago (boy did I need it) and now I REALLY feel a big difference. The doctor put 1.5 in and things have been very different thus far.
