    tall female sleevers...

I am 5' 10" and am shooting for 170. I lost a lot of weight 10 years ago and got down to 155, my high school weight. Looking at pictures now, I was too thin. I think that as you age (I am 45 now), being too thin can make you look gaunt and older as you lose the softness in your cheeks. In any case, anything is better that 314 pounds!

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

So glad someone redirected me to this thread! I am 5 weeks out from surgery and started the C25K today. Reading this has been inspiring!
  4. Anyone else want to join me? It's a free app which gets you running a 5K in 9 weeks. You train every other day. I ran for the first time in months today and my ankle didn't hurt! Yay!

    People think I am sick!

My top weight was 314, and at 5'10" it takes 20 pounds for me to drop a clothing size. I am now at 268 but it's not dramatic enough for people to be sure I've lost weight. I did have a friend ask if I've had Botox, which made me (age 45) very happy! I lost 120 pounds ten years ago and I remember when I got to my goal weight several people saying that they hoped I was going to stop because I was getting too thin. This time I shooting for 15 higher for my goal weight. They mean well ... I think!
  8. Congratulations and you look amazing and healthy! You are an inspiration. I tried yoga at my heaviest (300+) and it was so hard to do with my gut in the way! Am looking forward to trying it again when I am thinner.
  9. I am eating the Stage 3 diet four weeks out and am wondering about my sleeve capacity. For dinner tonight I ate 3 ounces of chicken and 1/2 cup of steamed Swiss chard. It doesn't look like much (compared to my family and my former self) but does that seem normal? I felt comfortably full when I was done, not overfull.

    Food question, 4 weeks out

I have lost 15 pounds in the last month, by the way, for a total of 40 from my highest.
  11. I am 3 weeks out tomorrow and down 12 pounds. I am eating protein shakes, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, applesauce ... I get to start eating real food this Wednesday after I see my nutritionist. My new stomach/sleeve feels fine, tolerating everything so far. I am still having pain in the abdominal muscles, though, which is frustrating. It is the central two incisions and only hurts if I bend at the waist. I haven't taken any pain medication since 5 days after surgery. I am looking forward to the muscles healing and being able to be more active without worrying about hurting myself.
  12. I have been drinking 4 oz hot prune juice in the morning (replaces my coffee) at the suggestion of my nutritionist. It has 90 calories but I prefer it to medication.

Dry heaves . After getting sleeved

I am a nurse so I requested Zofran and the patch before I went into the OR. Had no nausea or vomiting (thank goodness). You can take Zofran by mouth but anyway you take it, it is terribly constipating, so be careful!
  14. I know this probably seems nuts, but I am looking for some reassurance. I was sleeved on 9/23 and by 1 week post-op I was down 10 pounds. (I had lost an additional 25 pounds prior to surgery.) In the past week the scale has not moved and I am freaking out a little. I am eating what I am supposed to (puréed foods and protein shakes) and exercising almost every day, though not as hard I I was pre-op as the incisions are still a bit sore. I read about other people who the weight just seems to be falling off and worry, even though we are all different, I know. Any words of wisdom or reassurance? I am thinking about not weighing every day.

    5 days post op

I had my sleeve surgery on 9/23 and day 5 was my low point (so far), teary and feeling like, "What have I done?" I have been on full liquids since day 2, so 3 sugar-free Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes a day plus 8 oz. of soup, some juice, and broth if I can get it in. I am getting in 64 oz of fluid a day (counting everything) and I see my doctor tomorrow. I am hoping to advance to some mushy foods this week after I see him. My biggest stress is trying to get it all in and then wondering, "Is that feeling being overful? Am I stretching my sleeve or popping staples?" The mental part of this surgery and process is not small. Best of luck, everyone!
  16. I am new to this, as I am still going through the pre-op work-up for surgery, hoping to have it at the end of August. My question for the people who have already had the procedure is this: were any of you compulsive overeaters before surgery? I am wondering if I am alone in having concerns about making the lifestyle and diet changes needed for this surgery. I am very committed, but have failed so many times before at keeping weight off. I lost 120 pounds 10 years ago and was at my goal weight for about two months before I started gaining it all back, plus 10 more pounds. Tell me your success stories dealing with these changes and keeping the weight off, please!
