    Two Years Four Months

Sorry to hear about the ulcer...but...Congratulations on your success!!! I am almost two weeks out so I have a long way to go to get to goal. I was having extreme cramps today and I could not take any of my usual meds...Motrin or Alleve! I ended up at my doctor's office in tears and she gave my tramadol - which is a non narcotic, non-NSAID medication. As a back up, she gave me a script for flexeril - which is a muscle relaxer. Happy to report that the tramadol worked! Check with your doctor to see if these are appropriate for you to use in the future. I pray that all goes well for you.

    Onederland! YEA

    Wow! That is fantastic! Congrats!!!
  3. Ok, so maybe I am expecting too much. I had my VSG exactly one week ago and the scale has not budged. I even try to step up really slowly or lean from one side to the next...no change!!! Lol...but seriously.... I have not cheated. Because I am so heavy, I started my pre op diet early and I lost 29lbs prior to surgery. I figured that the weight loss would continue after surgery. I have heard of people having 6 month stalls or 1 year stalls...but 1 week??? Really? Granted I haven't been moving as much but I do walk ( very slowly) for 10 minutes twice a day! What gives?? :-(
  4. Thanks Brian! I'm going to get my sneakers right now! I appreciate the advice!
  5. I agree with Doreen70. Adding things to the shake has helped me tremendously. Bananas are great. i even put a little frozen mango in one. Nice on a hot day. :-) My problem now is the Isopure drinks. I can't tolerate them at all now. Before surgery, they were fine. I even did a taste test and all of them make me nauseous now. :-(
  6. I am 3 days post op. Sleeved on June 27th. When should I expect to have a bowel movement? Hope this is not too personal...
  7. Hi Everyone, I'm five days post op and when I swallow my chest feels sore. I'm assuming this is my esophagus that is a little irritated. Just wondering if this is part of the healing or should I be concerned. I took the meds for acid reflux...no change. Tried cold water and warm tea and warm soup...no difference. Anyone else experience this?

    Is this normal?

Right? :-) I don't want to over react but I also don't want to ignore something that might be serious. Guess I'll give it a few more days and see if it gets better. Thanks.

    Is this normal?

No, they said the surgery went great. No complications. I might be expecting too much.
  10. Ok....so what is everyone putting in their coffee? I tried a little Truvia. It's ok but I could use some other ideas. I miss my cream and sugar.
  11. Me too...but I switched to decaf. :-)
  12. I was sleeved two days ago. I came home yesterday and I can only take small Sips of water so far. The nurse told me that I must get in 4 bottles of water each day....sipping some water every few minutes...all day long. Can't wait to heal up! I'm sort of miserable right now. :-(
  13. Thanks so much. I really love this forum. Lets me know that I am not alone. Thank you all.
  14. This was helpful. I'm going in tomorrow at 1pm!
  15. Hi Everyone, I am on day 12 of my 14 day pre-op diet. My surgery is this Thursday at 1pm. (June 27th) Just wondering...For those who have already had the surgery, do you have any last minute words of wisdom? Is there anything that you wish you would have known before going into surgery that no one told you???? I am very excited but a little nervous... Any advice is appreciated!!
  16. Thank you so much! That is great advice. Today, I finished my food shopping and I am going to clean out my cabinets and refrigerator before Thursday! I also have a good support system of friends and family so I will keep busy chatting with them. I have even recruited a few to come "walk" me!! Thanks again!

    Post op

HI Everyone, I am am two days away from my VSG. I am very excited and a little nervous. Just wondering...did you have to do a pre-op diet? if so, do you think that the diet had something to do with the gas or is this just par for the course?
  21. Wow! That is great! I am on day 12 of a 14 day pre-op diet. While I am fine now, the first few days were rough! I hope all goes well for you. My surgery date is this Thursday at 1pm. I'm so excited!!!!
  22. Hi. I am scheduled for surgery on June 27th. I am so excited! But I have a serious concern. I have back aches and knee pain. I was told that Tylenol will be my pain medication after surgery. I tried two Tylenol for pain yesterday...not the same at all. Has anyone found anything else that works for pain after surgery?

    2week pre-op diet...

You are not alone. I was ranting a few days ago because I was soooo hungry. My surgery date is June 27!!! I am on day 3 of the pre op diet. I can have 4 high protein slim fast shakes a day, a handful of fruit and some veggies. The first 2 days were rough! I was cranky! I think is was the withdrawal symptoms you spoke of! But today I am ok. Praise God! I drink my water so that fills me up and I drink the shakes BEFORE I get hungry. This tip really helped me because once I get hungry my mind starts to think about old habits. I have to realize that my previous relationship with food is over. :-( It's almost like breaking up with a boyfriend that you had an unhealthy relationship with!! Hang in there! It does get better.
