What's everyone eating at 4 weeks out?

So weird how different all the doctors are- mine said to aim for thumb-sized portions. I am nowhere near a cupcake portion!

What's everyone eating at 4 weeks out?

I am exactly 4 weeks today, here's what I had yesterday (the first time I had 3 "meals") Breakfast- soft scrambled one egg with some cheese and ate about 8-10 small bites over about 45 minutes Lunch- about 1/4 of Greek yogurt over about 30 minutes Snack- less than half of an Atkins shake Dinner- less than an oz of chicken salad and it took me an hour to eat (made with canned chicken, mashed boiled egg and mayo) I tracked everything and I only got about 15 grams of Protein but I was SO FULL! I'm hoping that since I'm starting to eat more real food that I will get more protein from food and be able to tolerate a full shake a day. I also drank about 45 oz of water/crystal lite. Right now, I'm enjoying half a slice of shaved turkey lunch meat and half a laughing cow wedge.
  3. I will be exactly 3 weeks on Monday. The past 3-4 days, I have only been able to drink Water and gatorade and maybe 2 popsicles. I cannot get past 2 sips of Soup or Protein shakes. So basically, I have gotten no protein in! I am nauseous and the thought of food disgusts me. My dr did not seem too concerned and said it is normal and it will pass. BUT, how long will I feel like this? Week 2 was great- why the sudden turn? Anyone else go through this? By the way- I am still taking my Vitamins, B12 and taking pepcid in the morning and at night and gas-x a couple of times a day.

3 weeks out- nausea and can't eat

The nausea has been there with and without the dairy so I don't think it's lactose intolerance. I think it is a lack of Protein and maybe the heat? Yesterday was horrible and as a result I barely drank or ate anything all day. Today I made myself eat and drink and I've felt so much better. I still think I'm calling my dr to ask for something for when the nausea hits again. I still cannot get the Protein drinks down- I've tried the bullet shots, RTD Isopure, Atkins, and Advocare!
  5. When will it happen? I started pureed stage today and my first meal was about 8 mini bites of refried beans. I went really slowly and didn't drink anything while eating. My stomach feels ok, kinda rumbly, but I haven't had any of the horrible dumping symptoms. How long does it take for your stomach to decide it does or doesn't like the food?
  6. Thanks everyone! I am terrified of throwing up (I did enough of it in the hospital)!

3 weeks out- nausea and can't eat

I'm going to be really upset if it's a dairy thing! I was really looking forward to some cottage cheese tomorrow!

3 weeks out- nausea and can't eat

I just saw your other post and made me wonder. Some of the shakes may have had milk in them but the last two days I haven't had anything but the Isopure. Which kind of lactose-free protein are you doing?
  9. I don't think we would be the best ones to help you. We are only 2 weeks post-op. Might want to check with others that are further out.
  10. I'm a June 10th too! I've lost 30 lbs total so far (10 from pre-op and 20 post-op). I am getting close to getting in the liquids each day, but am no where near the amount of Protein I need. I just bought the New whey Protein Bullets in grape and I hope that will help. I am so sick of shakes! I'm not allowed to start purees until next Monday but I cannot wait. I have been to family social gatherings involving some really good food and it has been tough, but I've realized as I eat my Soup that I'm not really hungry, it's just in my head. I meet with my NUT for the first time this Friday so hopefully I will get some more advice and info then. I'm also going to a support group at my hospital next month so I'm fingers crossed that this is all worth it!
  11. I am not concerned with the fat and calories (right now anyways) because I can only eat 2-3 super small bites at a time. I was really just wondering if it would be considered a pureed food, since I can have sugar-free popsicles right now. I am just getting SO SICK of soup and protein shakes that I cannot wait for some different tastes!
  12. I'm wondering if it is from the introduction of cream soups? I've only eaten less than an ounce at a time so I don't think I'm over-eating. Anyone else experience some yucky days for apparently no reason? (I am 10 days post-op)

    Cruise?

Cruises are known for wanting to please you any way they can. I would try to talk to someone beforehand, tell them your situation and ask what accommodations they can make for you. Maybe they can make smoothies or other soft foods specifically for you?
  14. I am dying to find some Protein shakes I like! I have not even come CLOSE to getting enough protein. Before the surgery I was doing Advocare and I really like them, now though I cannot even get down one ounce. Tried the Lean Muscle Milk today in the vanilla flavor and could only get down about 5 sips- yuck! My dr didn't seem too concerned about the lack of protein (yet), he just wanted me to get enough liquids in period, but I am not on mushies for another two weeks. I do not want to lose a lot of hair!

I was on all liquid, but my dr said I could have a Lean Cuisine every other day for dinner. I am 1 week post-op and can barely get my Protein shakes down at all. I am drinking maybe an oz at a time! But my dr said it will get easier and I've been trying to check out other protein choices. I am on the full liquids for 2 more weeks. I am down 20 lbs as of today so yay!

The pre-op diet was super tough for me too! I was HANGRY all the time, but I did lose 12 pounds and it made me excited for the surgery. My only advice is don't burn yourself out on the shakes, because you'll be drinking plenty of those after the surgery!
  17. I was sleeved June 10th so this week has definitely been tough! But my question is about my incisions- I have 6 incisions, 5 really small, barely noticeable ones and then one larger right next to my belly button (in fact it's hard to know which spot is my belly button and which is the incision). This one is ugly and indented into my stomach and is causing me pain when I move around. It feels similar to my stomach muscles being cut when I had my c-section. Is this normal? I've asked two friends who have been sleeved and they don't remember any real pain in the incisions.

My dr has me on liquids, chewables, or crushed meds for 6 weeks. I am taking 3 Flintstone multi-vitamins, liquid B-12, one pepcid ac each morning. Then I take one more pepcid at night, along with some gas-x as needed. I think I will start the Calcium Citrate next week. It's a lot to remember! I would definitely have the gas-x and pepcid ready and then ask your dr about the vitamins you will need.

My dr said that it should take 15 minutes or 6-8 sips to drink an oz! I've been monitoring my bathroom breaks so I hope I don't have to go back to the hospital!

I'm impressed with everyone getting in all of their liquids and Protein so easily! I am struggling daily to do this. My surgery was the 10th and I have not gotten to my goal (or very close) at all. I'm sipping all day so I do not get dehydrated but can only get in 1-2 oz of Protein shakes a day! Maybe I'm taking too small of sips?
  21. I will be going on a week-long vacation exactly six weeks after surgery. I'm interested in hearing what people have eaten while on vacation (going on a plane so can't really bring a tom of my own snacks). I'll be at Sea World for 2 days and the beach for 2 days and it will be HOT! Anyone have food ideas?
  22. Thanks for all the great ideas! Little problem- I do not like seafood. I have tried many kinds throughout my life and have never found anything I liked. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that some of my tastes will change with this surgery. Salmon and shrimp always look so good!
  23. My surgeon was Dr. Davidson too! His main thing- Don't break the sleeve!
  24. I will actually be in San Antonio and then Corpus Christi, but thanks for all the great ideas!!!
