I tried the lean shake from GNC when I ran out and it was really good. My problem with GNC is that they don't have a protein drink with more than 25grams of protein and my nutritionist recommends one with the most protein and the least fat content.

Some questions for a nervous nelly...
chibabyy replied to nervousnelly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
30 mins of exercise is good but as time goes by, you will have more energy and you might not even realize when you are going to 1-2hrs at a time. I'm not there yet but there was a point in my life when I lost a lot of weight just starting with 20mins on the bike and increasing to 1hr on the treadmill. It felt good but I didn't even know when the whole increment happened cos I was having fun. Can't wait to have that much energy again. 30mins is better than nothing, it's excellent. -
Some questions for a nervous nelly...

Hi nelly, 2weeks will be fine but ask your doctor first, that's what I did. Also, even though I'm not a soda and beer drinker, I would tell you not to be surprised if your stomach can't handle the things you used to love. I am saying this cos there are things that I used to eat a lot that I can't stand anymore ie ice cream, I figured the other day to try ice cream being that I'm on purée. The whole ice cream came back up when I was on my last spoon and I only had half a scoop. Good luck in everything. -
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. My last app. with my surgeon, I weighed 301. Then my clearance interview at the hospital, I weighed 296. On my surgery day, I weighed 287. 1wk after surgery, 281. 2wks after, 271. Today the 3rd wk 276. How is this possible? Let me tell you what I eat: every morning, protein shake and water which I sip all day cos my stomach can't handle much. Noon: I mix Greek and light & fit yogurt and it takes me about 1hr to finish but this is after about 15-20mins walk cos I want to make time to eat and my lunch time is only 1hr. After work, I walk about 20mins to the train station instead of taking the bus. At home, I eat 2-3 spoons of retried beans or fruits or tuna and then more water. I get bad cramps when I eat more than so I try to avoid eating more than what I listed honestly. So, what am I doing wrong? Why is everybody dropping pounds like water and I can't? Is there something wrong with me? I'm really pushing myself cos I know I will get results but it seems like nothing is within reach.

What is it that you hate the most about being sleeved.
chibabyy replied to vane86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I refused to tell my coworkers because I don't feel like its their business but I had to tell my boss. Whenever my coworkers ask me what I'm doing, I tell them my nutritionist put me on a diet. My family knows and that's about it. I like to keep my business to myself. -
10 days post-op--shouldn't I be dropping pounds everyday?
chibabyy replied to Paradise Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad you brought this up and so happy to read all the responses and encouragements. I will be 3weeks post op on 6/26/13 and lost only 10 lbs on my 2nd week. I weigh myself only once a week and I'm not impressed with my numbers. I'm happy cos that's 10lbs I wouldn't have lost if I wasn't sleeved but I guess I expected more. Thanks all for the words of encouragements. -
Thank God you mentioned that. I was sleeved 6/5/13 and it just felt like I was sleeping all the time and tired. It's getting much better now but I still do get sleepy at times.

It seems like since I got sleeved on June 5th 2013, the days has been dragging. I bet you if I didn't do this surgery, it would be December already and I would be dragging my weight around. Can't wait for my 3months weigh in and 6months, 9months and a year. Excited to see what I would look like cos I've never been thin all my life.

3 months post-op pics

You look amazing. Keep it up, good job. -
Am on day 18 today 6/23/13 and was upgraded to purée on 6/20. I thought that I would love the upgrade but the thought of cooking or making something soft and end up eating two or three spoon is tiring for me. So, I'm sticking with my pudding, yogurt and protein shake especially at work. I tried ice cream at work today out of greed I guess and it just came back up when I'm almost at the last spoon. Any ideas on something interesting that I can make/cook without filling the whole pot? By the way, I'm not impressed with the amount of weight that I have lost so far. Only 10 lbs from my surgery weight on my 2nd week. My coworkers are noticing the inches lost but I'm not. I still look the same even though I walk before lunch and after work. Any words of encouragements? Thanks all for listening.

You were wrong, for not slapping him before responding to his rude comments. What a nerve he has.

I had a c-section too before my sleeve and the pain of the c-section was much worse than this but it's not to say that the sleeve is a breeze. You will be in pain and uncomfortable for a few days or weeks but just think about the end of the road. Good luck and God bless.

my long journey to being sleeved finally.
chibabyy posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello all, my journey started late 2010 when I decided to get a bariatric surgery. I called up my insurance company which I have from my job and asked if they cover for bariatric surgery and they said that they do. I was even more excited when I found out that they do not require a 6month weigh in as other insurance company as long as my BMI is above 40. I got a note from my doctor and started the process and by 2011, I was done with all the test ie upper GI, psychologist ,cardiologist etc. A month after I was done and about to make an appointment to see my surgeon for the last time and schedule my surgery date, I realized that I have missed my period and started to get nervous. I took a pregnancy test and I was pregnant. I cried so much because I was happy to be pregnant after trying for so long and sad because I was so close to my surgery date. Anyway, I had a handsome baby boy in 2012 and decided to start the whole process again before I go back to work from my maternity leave. I finally did and found out when I went back to work that my job has made changes to our insurance and the surgery will cost me 20% compared to $250 if I had done it by December 2012. Also, they now require a 6month weigh in which was not fun at all. My surgery was scheduled for June 5th (my birthday) because I wanted that day to be a memorable day.
