Don't apologize, they can't help but post in here, especially when conversations about our junk are going on.

    Post Op Liquid Diet

Most of your hunger hormone producer is gone, but your body still has some in it. I get ravenous if I haven't eaten in 18 hours. So basically, if I skip breakfast, I'm ready to eat a cow, but then after 4-5 bites I'm all back to good. And the sleeve doesn't let me eat the cow

    Hunger is back

I haven't done counseling cause I haven't found I needed it. But I have found that hunger isn't an issue when I get my Water and Protein in. Hunger really does go away at the onset of surgery. I understand that it can come back for a lot of folks, but I'm only 6 months out at this point. The sleeve prevents you from overeating so that should be less of a concern. But, if you find yourself stuffing yourself to the point of feeling bad or throwing up or consistently eating when you are not hungry, then getting some counseling would be ok. I too was worried about my compulsion to overeat and I can tell you 6 months in I feel in control of it for good.

    Hunger is back

Days I workout, I make sure I get extra protein in. The sleeve only quashes hunger to a point. Your body will still be screaming for more if it really needs it, like your muscles need protein after lifting that often each week. Try upping water those days and I think you'll find the hunger going away.

    Muscle Loss Sucks

First day I was cleared for weights and it's amazing how much I lost. Basically was working out with 25% less weights than I was 6 weeks ago when I had the surgery. I knew it would happen and not trying to bitch or anything, just kind of amazed how much it was. Anyone upped their Protein and calories after 6 weeks to over 100 grams and 1,000 calories? My goal right now is 80 grams and about 850 calories. The calorie one is arbitrary as my surgeon just wanted me to get between 60-80 grams of protein and didn't say anything about calories other than obviously don't push it and don't eat around the sleeve.

Thanks, but keep those to yourself.

    Guy's any regrets?

This just tells me that you know what you are getting into and are ready for it. You'd be surprised how many people don't know much going into the surgery.

    Guy's any regrets?

I can honestly say that I've never had any regrets. In the days leading up to the surgery I kept thinking to myself how dumb it was to be having it, but that was just my mind worrying. Woke up from it and haven't looked back once.

    5 months, 78lbs Lost

Congrats on the weight loss. I'm 4 months out and also down 10 sizes. I get between 80-100 grams of Protein a day and don't have a problem lifting 4 times a week and gaining muscle mass.

How and when to stop losing weight?

Man, you are going to end up well below 190. You're what, 5'10"? I'm guessing you will end up around 170-175. As far as stopping losing weight, purposely eating bad foods can be a slippery slope that could result in a constant grazing or eating of junk foods. And that could result in weight regain. These forums are filled with folks who have regained significant amounts of weight after being at "goal."

    Surgery Date set 2-3-14

Heating pad on high helped as well. Worse case, take some of those prescription pain meds they gave you!

    12 days after surgery

I was that way when I was at your stage. The missing of food gets much less as time goes along and you realize you can still eat the meals you love, just a lot less at once. But that means we get leftovers, which is awesome (until you start throwing them out because you can't get through them all).

To tell or not to tell...

I told friends, family and coworkers. I didn't and don't keep it a secret. It was no secret I was morbidly obese, even if I didn't see myself that way. I also didn't want to lie to anyone when the questions about how I'm losing this much weight started coming in. Now, I don't tell my clients because at some point, I'm tired of talking about it as much as I have been and I don't see them often enough for it to matter. I got a wide range of support when I told people. Most are really supportive, some don't care, etc. I had one person tell me in a roundabout way that he thought I would fail because I wasn't committed. But whatever, my success isn't dependent on him. I'm down 114 pounds in about 4 months so he can EAD.

    Muscle Loss Sucks

Also, protein should be your best friend on lift days and should be getting 20-25 grams within 30 minutes of lifting. On lift days I aim for 100 grams of protein. Get some jerky or something to help you get there. Jack Links is what I go with since they sell it at Sam's. 13-17 grams of protein per ounce-ish of jerky. I'll eat an ounce before lifting and a couple ounces afterwards. I don't know as much as to the different types of proteins and powders (powders and shakes have always made me nauseous) so others can address that. Too little protein on lift days and I actually feel hunger, which I take as my body really wanting nourishment to repair the muscles.

    Muscle Loss Sucks

I personally rotate between two workouts: push and pull. And that includes pushing and pulling legs. I also try to mix in big body movements to get my heart rare up a bit. How long are you lifting for each day with 12 different exercises and 4 sets of each? Are you trying to build bulk or tone?

Monday is the big day, not to nervous..

Best advice that I got and did was as soon as you can, get you can, get up and start walking around the hospital. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

    Lesson learned

Yeah, definitely. Liquids only stay in your stomach for a few minutes whereas solids, even refried beans, stick around for a lot longer. I'm 3.5 months out now and I can comfortably eat 5-6 ounces of dense protein in one sitting.

Yeah, post your workouts. When you are getting started, the biggest thing to get down is form. With bad form, as you lift more and more, you are more likely to get hurt. Bad form also prevents you from maximizing your workouts. A good app is called Full Fitness. It has routines and videos, so you can see proper form.

    Gummies and Fish Oil

Fellas, doc told me I could start doing gummy vitamins, which is great because I'm tired of these chewable vitamins. Anyone taking any? What kind do you all like? Also, I'd like to start taking fish oil again but I'm not allowed to take the big pills that they typically come in. What do you all take?

Dropped 3 pants size in 2 months

I was sleeved same day. I was a 4XLT and wore a tight 50 inch pants. Down to a comfy 40 and either an XLT or XXLT, depending on who's making the shirt. I don't have any damn clothes in my closet anymore! Good thing January is clearance month at most clothing stores.

Getting nervous due to all the comments I am hearing

I just followed Dr's orders about what to eat and when then walked a lot. I've dropped 100 pounds in 3 months since surgery.

Getting nervous due to all the comments I am hearing

For me, my doc wanted to see me drinking liquids. He didn't tell me that until 6 pm the next day. I hadn't had any because I wasn't thirsty (all those liquids they pump in you plus ice cold water was hard to drink) so I had to stay one more night. Woke up the next day, had 32 ounces by noon and was on my way home.
