That'll do it. I find when I stall for a couple days that high protein, low carb and LOTS of water (at least 3-32 ounce powerade zeros) kick me back into weight loss. Or it's just a coincidence but I'll take it!

I actually felt a really really minor twinge on the left side of my abdomen the other day when I was finishing up some crunches. I'm 3 months post op and only time I've noticed it since starting exercise again.

Cool. Welcome and nice handle.

Good luck tomorrow!

I'm still in weight loss mode (aim for 1,000 calories a day but usually don't get there) but I'm back to lifting 3 times a week and seeing the strength come back. I just push to get to 80 grams of protein on my lift days. I don't think you need to wait until maintenance.

I Want To See Before & After Pics!
cubbies76 replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm bored so I'll play as well. First one was taken on 9/2/13 and I was probably about 390ish (surgery was 10/14/14 and I dropped 7-8 pounds before surgery date). Second one was taken 1/5/14 and am down just under 100 pounds from the date of the first picture (294). Goal is to drop another 60ish to get to 235 (I'm 6'4"). Was going to post one of me just wearing a tie but I think that's already been done.... -
Not necessarily just strength. Look at my second post in this thread. I've lost even more, down about 23 pounds in muscle now. I'm now making sure I get 80 grams in and I am lifting 3 times a week now, trying to rebuild muscle mass. I don't want to look like I lift 400, just want good definition once I get closer to goal.

You'll find the whole not drinking while eating then waiting gets easier. Did for me at least. Getting 64 ounces of Water is the only thing now that I *have* to do. Preop diet sucked big time. Mine was two week of 5 Protein shakes a day. It seems like ancient history when you wake up from the surgery. All those hunger feelings are gone.

I'm guessing you mean the BMI charts. That chart is somewhat flawed. It was developed a long time ago and is just a quick formula. Often it can be fairly accurate, but everyone is not built the same. But the body fat analyzers also aren't super accurate. So, I'm just going with seeing what I'll,be when I'm down to 240 of so then reevaluate if necessary.

How'd it go? Enjoying the pain meds? Be sure to try to get your fluids in these early days and try to walk around the hospital as much as you are comfortable doing. That will help make you feel better sooner.

Welcome! This is a good place to get a wealth of information. Good luck on your journey! -
You mean you want to lose 100 pounds, not weigh 100, right?
-
I'm 6'4" and and down about 95 pounds right now. 180 seems a little low. Have you done a body fat analysis? I did one and I'm finding my non-fat body mass is about 200. A normal body fat % for guys is about 18% so that means my "ideal" body mass would be about 240. Body fat analyzers aren't an exact science so it's just an estimate. 180 might be what you need to be, but maybe consider seeing what your non-fat mass is. Just my humble suggestion. Good luck on your journey.

What new habits are you trying to build?
cubbies76 replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have seen a few people talk about planning for a late night snack. I think that's a great way to get around it. If we know we are going to snack at night, let's plan for it. Eat less for lunch or skip an afternoon snack. It makes sense to me that we'd be hungry at night if we eat at 6. By 1030 or 11 it's been a long time since we've eaten! -
What new habits are you trying to build?
cubbies76 replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm about 10 weeks out and I'm still working in eating slower. I'm also working on getting in the habit of waking up early and going to the gym, no excuses and no telling myself I will go after work, because I know that won't happen. Finally, I'm really trying to build the habit of getting in enough water. I find the only way I can do it is if I conscientiously make myself drink it or if I put sugar free Kool Aid or Crush in it. But I'd like to reduce my aspartame intake. -
Preop diet and feeling cold
cubbies76 replied to night_owl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, it's normal. Your body is getting a lot less than it needs. But don't worry, it'll adjust and you don't feel tired. I am colder now, but that's due to the almost 100 pounds lost this year. -
extreme gas pains on sides and ribs
cubbies76 replied to rxkid2384's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far out are you? Your body just may not like pizza anymore. Kind of a good problem to have I can't handle eggs anymore. Don't get gas pain but they just don't sit right for a few hours after eating them. -
I didn't have any problems getting fluids in starting on day 2 post op. Liquid only stays in your stomach for a few minutes, so you should be able to drink an ounce of water every 4-5 minutes. That's 12 ounces an hour, so not hard to get in the 64 for someone not having any problems with nausea or vomiting (which was my case). I would go walking for an hour or more Nd made it my goal to consume a 20 ounce bottle of water while I was walking which helps too. Hardest part was just remembering to drink water (still is).

Don't feel full three weeks post-op
cubbies76 replied to lynzi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing and even had crazy thoughts like "did the surgeon actually do anything besides make the incisions?" As soon as I was on soft foods (crackers and cheese) I felt full really quickly. I couldn't even finish 5 crackers and a laughing cow cheese triangle! -
Yeah, I wouldn't weigh every day. It will definitely drive you crazy: up a pound or two one day, down 4 the next. It's crazy. It's tough to walk by the scale and not want to step on it, I had to put the scale away on a shelf in my closet.

Shopping list for the hospital etc.
cubbies76 replied to donaboss's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could get away with nothing but a basic toiletry kit (toothpaste, toothbrush, comb/brush, deodorant), Chapstick and underwear. I was in a gown the whole time I was there and wore home what I wore to the hospital. -
I've got a closet full of clothes that could double as hospital gowns at this point after dropping almost 100 pounds in 2013. My sister, who is visiting for Christmas, is making me get rid of them. I haven't kept them for any reason other than just being lazy about getting rid of them. I'm expecting to be shocked by how few things I have that fit. I've already finally gotten around to buying new clothes and I've got a long way to go to replacing my closet of clothes. I hate clothes shopping though. But, it's a good problem to have.

Looking good, especially since you aren't wearing that Cowboys jacket in the new pictures
