    sore tummy

I had some big bruising with a few incisions too. Along with everything everyone else said, try icing it. I actually alternated ice for the bruising and than used heat to help with the muscle repairing at night. I feel like some people are more affected by the blood thinners and get big bruises around the incisions.... All that being said still watch for the fever, discharge, etc to sure its not infected. Also walk, walk, walk! The longer a person lays around, the longer it will take to heal. Good luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Incision color

I had a lot of bruising around the one where he removed my stomach. Actually, I'm 20 days post op and its still a pale yellow color around it... I didn't have any drainage tho. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    25 y.o. Pre-op

I'm down 17 with preop diet, 7 being post op. Liquids are slow going, but doable. My NUT gave me an hourly eating/drinking schedule that really helps me to males sure I get everything in these first few weeks. It was really difficult in the beginning because I felt so bloated! I felt like I couldn't fit anything else in my stomach cavity (not necessarily my sleeve). GasX is a miracle worker!! There is a lot of learning by trial and error the first few days. You will figure out what is too much and when you've had too much. Make sure you listen closely! Walking is great!!!! Besides meds it was/is the best thing for pain! My first night, I walked about every 1-2 hr because I would wake up with chest/shoulder and gas pressure. Walking helped me so I could go back to sleep. For me the pain wasn't terrible, unless I twisted or bent wrong. As for daily activities... I was in the hospital 2 days. My first few days i spent at home focused on drinking, walking, and sleeping. it was nice not to be woken up for vitals! I started driving myself day 6. Day 5 I spent at a family get together. Other daily activities have been normal with minimal bending, twisting, and lifting. I have my boyfriend to do those for me :-). I have 2 dogs that I'm not walking again yet... They are 50 lbs and 30 lbs so they could do some damage if they pull... I'm a teacher, so I didn't have to start work yet. I did have a training today. It was fine. It was actually harder to be sitting for so long. When do you think you will have the surgery? Sent from my iPhone using VST

    25 y.o. Pre-op

Welcome! I'm 26 from Minnesota and I was sleeved 9 days ago. Everything is going great for me. There is soooo much helpful information on here you will be on info overload trying to read it all! My biggest advice is to follow the nutritional plan your surgeon and NUT have for you after surgery. Everyone seems to be advanced at different rates but just follow what your told by your own... Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  7. I had my surgery on 7/30 and everything has been going good. Pain is alright, so I'm weening myself off of the pain meds starting this afternoon. I've been walking a lot, at least 3 miles outside because it actually helps with the pain (throughout the day). I'm on Clear liquids for 1 week, with a minimum goal of 48 oz that I have been reaching... All that being said, 8/1 I started to have BMs again. However they have been... Well complete liquid. It was manageable until about 10 last night I started having to run to the bathroom (OUCH!). My stomach area sounds like Jurassic Park and its getting more frequent. I do not have a fever and I do not have stomach pains with it. My 1 week follow up is Monday, but is there anything I can do I the mean time???? I'm seriously desperate to quiet to dinosaurs in my tummy and make my trips to the bathroom less frequent. Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  8. Some meds are not crushable tho, particularly if they are "extended release" tablets. You will have to talk to your primary doctor about comparable pills that are crushable or in the capsule that can be taken apart. Most meds are offered in various forms :-) Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Warning gross poo question

Lol!! I've heard this before, but its something that you can't ever hear enough :-D I assume that means all white pants/shorts should just go into the donation pile immediately after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Warning gross poo question

Well at least I know its normal! Thanks for sharing! If you have any advice that will make it less frequent I'm all ears. It woke me up every hr -45 mins last night to run to the bathroom... I'll try taking Imodium once a day until I see my doctor on Monday for the 1 week. Now to focus on the positive reasons I had the surgery like not eventually getting diabetics, feeling comfy in a wedding dress, riding amusement park rides, and feeling good about myself Sent from my iPhone using VST

    HELP!~ POD 3 Feel like I'm choking

Are you taking long enough breaks between sips? You could also try different temperatures. Some people do better with cold, some warm. See if another temp works better for you. I had mine on 7/30 and my surgeon told me that right now with the sleeve being swollen, our esophagus is actually larger then our sleeve. So maybe really small sips would be helpful until the swelling goes down. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Anyone from Minnesota

I was sleeved on Tuesday through Park Nicollet clinic in St Louis Park by Dr. Jones. The entire process was fabulous! I loved how supportive and helpful everyone at the clinic was. I honestly can't say enough about how great they have been and how happy I am with them :-). Anyways I "broke out" of the hospital yesterday afternoon :-). It feels so good to be home, but its hard to get all the liquids in with all the napping. I'm constantly sipping but if I'm not moving I fall asleep. Feels good to be on the losing bench! Had my sleeve on tuesday

I also had surgery on Tuesday, so I'm right there with you! Make sure that you are walking like everyone says... I actually feel good when I'm moving and hurt more when I've been sitting too long. Also don't let your pain meds wear off yet. I accidentally did that yesterday and boy did I know it!!! If they said to take it every four hours, take it every 4 hours. Plus gasX is helpful too :-) You can also try alternating ice and heat. I forget which does what, but they both do good things to help with healing and pain. Good luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Is this normal?

I very much second the previous statement of go to the ER right now!! That sounds like it could be very serious and you DO NOT want to chance it.

    Anyone from Minnesota

I'm kinda weird in that the RTD ones make me gag except for Isopure. I found a recipe book for Protein drinks online that helped me become creative with the powders. "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein Shakes" by Nikki Madsie. It's soooooooo much better and easier now! Also did you try the sample packs of powders? Some are really good others not, but the variety is nice... All stuff I'm sure you're heard before :-)

    July 31 sleevers

My day is the 30th so its close... :-/ I keep flipping between nervious and excited. I've been wanting to do this for a while, so I'm ready but I'm still anxious. I'm crazily cleaning the house this week and reorganizing cabinets. I feel like I have to be busy all the time! I hope everyone is doing well on their preop diets! Only a few more days :-D

    cannot stomach vitamins!

There are a gummy version of almost every mineral/ vitamin and they tend to taste good. They use natural fruit flavors. For a mutil vitamin, I've been taking centrum flavor bites. They are much better then the other chewables I've tried. There are also gummy multi vitamins, but my dr told me to try centrum first...

    Care Credit

When I applied, I was approved the same day. I wasn't married, but I am a home owner with average credit. I used it for my boyfriend when he did not have dental insurance a few years ago. One thing to be careful of is if you use it and you don't pay it off during the 0% time limit (depends on the doctors office) you have to back pay the interest. It can be a big whammy!

Welcome from Minnesota. :-) I'm a bit far away, but I wanted to say hi and good luck with everything. People on here are very friendly.
  23. Smartbody nutrition and bariatric pantry were where I got 2 different types of sample packs from Syntrax Protein powders. One is the nectar and the other is the matrix. They have tons to flavors in both! It was hard to find a sample pack with ALL of the flavors included... I haven't gotten any unjury yet...
